Common Questions and Answers about Itchy rash lips

rash

I found out last year that I have a severe mango allergy. One of the symptoms was swollen itchy lips. Prednisone made it go away (after the Dr. and I tried lots of other things). No more mangoes for me!
I have almost similar condition too once in a while. My lips woulds suddenly feel itchy and the area around the lipline would peel. My lips would also feels crusty and I could see peels of dried skin on certain part of my lips. Once it got so bad that my lips were actually swollen and red. I went to 2 dermatologist who prescribed antibiotic cream to me but it didn't work. In the end, I went to see a pharmacist who told me that it could be caused by dry weather. I took note of it.
I cut all these things out, but he is still getting the reaction - itchy lips, slight rash on cheek/chin, some slight lip-swelling sometimes. Sometimes it seems to be more of a nuisance to him, other times the itch seems to be quite intense. However I give him benedryl in both cases. I pretty much cook all his food, because it is now impossible to find frozen/pre-cooked food at the grocery store which is nut/wheat/garlic/meat tenderizer free.
It cleared up, but the day after I stopped taking the steroid, the red itchy rash came back. My doc gave me a topical steriod and this seems to keep the inflammation down, though it still itches. Now the skin on my face is incredibly dry, and I have to moisturize it frequently during the day. I basically had to change my whole skin care routine, now using gentle moisturizing products, as opposed to the oil and acne fighting products I had to use before.
Dear doctor, i'm 14this year, and few months ago, after i went tanning one day at the upper part of my lips it started to develop some itchy rash, that on the surface it looks cracked, few days later the thing slowly disappeared, but my lips started becoming very flaky, the skin from the lips will start to flake off and it itches and gives of a burning sensation which is painful. Hello, Burt’s bees is for mositurisation of the lips and for itchy red lips which can be due to an allergic reaction or cheilitis, take antihistaminics like Benadryl or Claritin and apply mild steroid creams after a prescription from your doctor. Also keep them moisturized by using plain Vaseline. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
A rash with some swelling has appeared around my lips. At the same time I developed a slight sore throat. The rash is not itchy but feels hot and somewhat painful. Since it is the weekend the only place to go is to the emergency room which I would like to avoid; however, the rash is getting worse. Any ideas for treatment until I can get to my doctor?

Hello, Red itchy vagina can be due to a number of causes. First of all it can be due to allergic reaction or contact dermatitis to your undergarments, sanitary napkins or tampons, soaps etc. There is no change in the color or smell of discharge in this case.
I also develop an acne-like rash on my cheeks and get white head spots around the edges of my lips. A couple of times the red part of my skin around my lips started leaking puss. When the reaction starts my lips start tingling and burning and are extremely uncomfortable. At first my doctor thought it might be a food allergy but it has recently started flaring up when my skin comes in to contact with something, for example the latest reaction flared up 2 hours after kissing my husband.
I have tiny itchy bumps on the left side of my lips - almost on the corner, but not quite - and near the edges. This started about 2 days ago. I am living overseas where I don't speak the language & it's hard to tell if the doctors understand (just on previous visits when I had a cold). The day that this occurred I tried a sample of a local homemade regional dish and was offered to take some home and ate some that night. The girl who offered me rinsed her fork but didn't wash it.
My 10-year old out of know where has come up with a itchy dark red rash around his mouth and chin. It is a little painful. It just started a couple of days ago. He has never had anything like this before.
The only issue with this is that the rash is over my entire body (except my face, other than a few bumps on my lips), and the rash is itchy, which the HFM rash is not supposed to be. We did do a blood test for HFM but won't get the results for several days. Basically my doctor told me all I can do is wait it out and just treat the itching, which I'm doing with an antihistamine and Aveeno cream.
It starts out as a clump of tiny bumps on my lips on either side of my lips (not the corners) and during the days it spreads to around the corners of my lips. From far away I just look like I have fat lips, up close they look like little bumps all around. Sometimes they pop and water leaks out but other times they're just there and won't go away. They don't bleed, but worst case they spread to just above my lips and it's been so bad before that it's spread to the bottom of my nose.
I had also had braces after the poor dental work and now wear a night time retainer (w/ wire), could the retainer be giving me a rash on my lips? Also sometimes have some white spots on inner lips afterwards that don't itch. Could it be a contact dermatitis or from lip sticks wearing, a yeast infection? What things could it be so I know to bring it up to my dermatologist and ask to have tests if needed?
**I decided to post this else where** I'm not really sure where to put this but I have this itchy rash on my earlobes that darkens my skin (I'm part black). It's kind of flaky and sometimes feels raised and has little bumps on it. It won't go away. If I don't scratch it it leaves but the skin is still discolored. It's only on one ear now, but it's moving to the side of my face and I'm getting worried.
Hi, I got this really annoying itchy rash 2 weeks after giving birth vaginally to my daughter. medicine and sarna lotion don't seem to work. It itches even more when I scratch and at night. I heard other moms had postpartum rash too. What can I do to alleviate the itch and what is the cause? I breastfeed and it's unbearable at night with the itch.
I just developed an itchy rush above my upper lips yesterday. I never had this before. I'm afraid I am equating this with the rash one develops during HIV acute infection. It's stupid but I should say I had an unprotected sex three weeks ago. Suddenly I developed severe headeches and this rash. Could this be symptoms that develop during HIV acute infection?
ps. the rash isn't itchy at all but the dryness has made me skin a little tight, and my 8 year old nephew also had the same rash..(he lives at our house like 4 days of the week) and his did not itch either. and there have been no new soaps.
I have had a red symmetrical rash at both corners of my mouth for last 6 mths. It is not DH and it is not itchy. My lips seem very dry and burn. I've had my thyroid checked and my internist & dermontologist have no idea what it is but she proscribed flucinolon acetonide which only lessons the redness. I do get DH on my hands when I've been exposed to gluten but I've never had a rash on my face & doctors don't have a clue What could this be & how to I get rid of it???
A few days ago my face started itching, mainly my forehead, behind the ears around my mouth and chin, etc. There wasn't much of a rash, just itching. Then it moved to my genitals where there was some redness, but no bumps or anything that I could see. It just itched. Now I've noticed what might be small little bumps on the surface of my lips and when I pucker my lips there's some wetness or oozing, perhaps. Just clear fluid.
