My 3 yo daughter has a bumpy, itchy rash on her knees and elbows. She has it most of the time but only sometimes does it itch. I put hydrocortisone cream on it when it itches. Should I take her to our doctor for some other medicine?
I feel that it is aggravated by the humidity and heat. The red itchy bumps are only on my knuckles finger joints elbows and knees. Please let me know how to calm the itching/ inflammation and what you think it is.
But the others, my doctor cannot identify. The back of my hands, my feet (esp pinky toes), knees and elbows have a non itchy , red rash. The ones on my pinkie toes hurt because I have to wear shoes, but I really can't feel the rest of them. Benedryl doesn't do anything except ease the itching of the injection site rashes. I really don'ot want to get shuffled from specialist to specialist , only to be told...uh we don't know--which is usually the case. I am thinking maybe viral arthritis?
Hello, about a year ago I developed small itchy bumps on my butt near the opening of my vagina. Since then the rash of itchy bumps has spread to the the fronts and backs of my knees & elbows, my hips, my inner thighs, and my stomach. The itching comes and goes and is most pronounced when I remove my clothing. These patches of itchy skin are not at all painful. They also do not blister. I scratch them but it only provides a brief period of relief.
I have hot feeling itchy rash type bumps on my elbows and knees and when I take that 1% hydocortisone cream it goes away, but when I stop it comes back in same place. It most inflames at night and and in the morning or when my skin gets greasy.

I am itchy in my armpits, inside of my elbows, around my groin, backs of my knees and even sometimes in and around my belly button. I have noticed a rash on the inside of my elbows and a bit of a rash in my armpits. Any ideas what it could be or what is causing it. Ive had a look at certain rashes for more severe diseases such as meningitis and im pretty sure it isnt something like that.
I have an itchy red rash over most of my body including arms, legs, genital area, buttocks, and even my head (can't see it, just feel it). None on my hands or feet, underarms or breasts. Started on my right forearm in a small patch around a surgical site a few weeks ago, but just recently started to itch and now appears to be spreading. Any ideas?
This morning I noticed that she has lumpy red bumps all over both knees and both elbows. They are reddish and do NOT itch or hurt. There are probably 50 to 100 bumps in all, of varying sizes. They do not look like the molluscum she has had in the past. Any guesses as to what they are and/or what we should do for them? I really don't want to take her in again if it is just more molluscum.
They don't itch or hurt, and eventuallu fade. The bumps on my elbows and knees are not a rash, they're definite bumps. Weird.
I've been getting a rash on my finger joints, elbows, and knees since I was 6 or 7 years old. It just flared up again for no apparent reason. When it is really bad, like it is now, it is both itchy and painful at the same time, and my skin feels tight and hurts when I bend my fingers. The rash looks like many small bumps of different sizes, not everywhere on my hands, just on the knuckles and joints of the back of my hand.
My tummy really didn't itch, it my knees, elbows, and breasts that have been bad. I will definitely try not using soap. Thanks for the advice!
For the past few days, I've had a red and itchy raised rash on my thighs, inside of my elbows, neck, face, wrist, and the back of my knees. The bumps on my thighs are a darker red, small raised bumps. The same appeared on my wrist, neck, and face later on but not as red. The bumps on the inside of my elbows are larger, but appear to look the same as the rest. Just today the ones on my face appeared, no colour, but itchy and raised bumps. I also have red puffy eyes and they are just as itchy.
Hi I'm a 52 year old woman who has had an itchy rash on either my left or right elbow for the last year now. I showed it to my PCP (who is a nurse practitioner) and he said "Hmmm... it almost looks like poison ivy" Which I know it is not from poison ivy as it was in the middle of a cold New Hamphshire winter when it came on. He recommended taking an anti histamine, which does help the itch and when I take the anti histamines around the clock it takes the rash away.
I have had a extremely itchy rash mostly on my torso (below my breasts, around my waist, armpits, inside of my elbows, behind my knees, etc.) for a few weeks now. There is no rash on my legs. I went to the doctor a couple of weeks ago and he said it was due to detergent. I took all of the steroids (10mg) he prescribed and it subsided. Today, it is back and very itchy! What should I do next? Is there something I can try OTC to get rid of this? I tried Cortizone creams, etc.
The first batch was centered around my knees and elbows. The out break lasted 4 days with the rashes appearing and disappearing within hours. Now two weeks later rashes are popping up again. However this time the rashes have not faded as quickly. Its been three days and the first spots are still visible but are now looking like bruises. Some of the rash bumps are in the rows that are the shape of half circles.
Since March I have been experiencing a itchy rash that is located on my upper thigh (not genitals), the inside of my arms, elbows, knees and sometimes hands. I have been to four different dermatologist. Who had diagnosed me from folliculitis to scabies but the rash will not go away and it itchy intensely and when I say intensely I mean I am not able to think or sleep.
The bumps started as a few on my hands and have exploded all over both ands, my elbows, knees, and are starting to show up on my feet. I've had them for a little over a week now. I tried soaking my hands and elbows in hot water and Epson salt and that seemed to help the itching for awhile at least. I'm not sure why, but it seems like the pros on this site pick and choose who they want to answer. Hopefully they'll choose your post since mine was completely looked over.
Hi, I'm not sure if this is Anaphylaxis, but several years ago I went through a phase of waking up and the skin on my knees and elbows was red and swollen- the joints themselves were fine, but the skin felt hot and itchy like bad sunburn. The feeling would get worse, then calm through the day. After a few weeks my ears also began turn red and hot, and later the skin around my mouth also turned red, in quite a clear cut blotchy way.
My friend and I recently returned from a vacation in South Beach, Miami and erupted in an itchy rash primarily on our arms and shoulders. It was also present, yet not as severe, on our legs, knees, and feet. After going to the doctor, we were both prescribed pretnasone. After reading about the drug, I decided not to take it. My friend just finished her prescription. It is 10 days later and the pimple-like rash has changed and is now centralized on my elbows, lower arms and hands.
This is often called eczema, common disorder of childhood that produces red itchy, weeping rashes on the inner aspects of the elbows and in back of the knees as well as the cheeks, neck, wrists, and ankles. However it is commonly found in patients with asthma and fever. It can be treated through proper medications and consultation.
The first xyzal, this worked fantastic in reducing the redness in my face/neck, but then I began getting a rash on my elbows and knees. This seemed like an allergic reaction so I stopped. Went back to benadryl, the rashes on my elbows and knees went away but my face got inflamed. So 2 days later I tried 180mg Allegra, and the same thing happened! My face/neck calmed down but the rashes on my elbows knees came. Do xyzal and allegra have a similar ingredient, or what could this be?
It appears on my neck, bend of elbows, behind knees, around armpits, and groin. The bumps are very very small, barely visible. About the same size as goosebumps. They are very very itchy. I take antihistamines, tried fungal medication(Lotriderm) and then 2% HC ointment but none works. What can this rash be?
I found this while looking for answers on my own mystery rash from the knees down. I was snorkeling in Cozumel right before the rash appeared. "This is my first note, it's more of a warning for not-so-savvy tourists. The first day we arrived in Playa del Carmen we couldn't wait to go swimming but when we got to the beach we noticed that there were a ton of people sitting on the beach but not too many swimming. We went swimming anyways.
Hi I am a healthy 26 year old woman. About three months ago, I had an itchy rash on my chest area, shoulders and back. My doctor diagnosed it as pityariasis. I had a biopsy of the rash and it showed that it could be a type of dermatitis or something viral. I took a medrol dose pack to get ride of the rash along with some ointment. About a week or two later, I developed hives on my back. They were flat and slightly raised.
