Common Questions and Answers about Itchy nipples means

itchy

For the past couple of weeks, my left nipple has been itchy. It seemed a little dry, so I thought it was just a dry skin itch, but, after using moisturizer on it, it didn't stop itching. I'm also noticing more tenderness in the breast as well. I don't feel any lumps. I've scheduled a mammogram for next week, but in the meantime, I'm kind of obsessing over this. Any thoughts on what it might mean?
For the last two weeks or so, I have had persistant itchiness in my right nipple (not both nipples). There doesn't seem to be any swelling, though my right nipple may be very slightly larger than the left. Recently I started having a dull pain as well. The pain may be the result of a nipple injury, in which it was squashed against my bed with a lot of force. The itchiness certainly has nothing to do with the injury.
For months my left nipple has been very itchy. There is no discharge and no rash. Then, a week ago, my left breast started hurting. Mostly a dull ache with occasional stabbing pain in the same spot. I am 48 years old, have 2 children, had a complete hysterectomy a month before my 30th birthday, am not on HRT, and have had a benign biopsy of the left breast back in '94. My mother had a radical mastectomy at the age of 50.
Hi everyone So for the past few day Ive been very gassy, feeling bloated and crampy on and off and constipated, and have very sensitive itchy nipples. I had these same "symptoms" and more late last year/early this year and was sure I was preggie but found out it was just the BC I was on (Ortho Tri-Cyclen which makes your body actually think its preggie and once I stopped it and got on Yaz in Feb all that stopped).
i was just wondering what dry and itchy nipples means? if anyone can help i would appreciate it..
Hey Ladies Just a quick one Had EXTREMELY painful nipples for over a week and tested BFN. Since then the pain has gone away but i still havent got AF (Which isnt unusual as i havent had my period since coming off the pill at the begining of sept) Has anyone ever heard of a woman having VERY VERY VERY sore nipples that have stopped being sore but have still been PG or does this just mean its a no-go?
Went to the Drs. this morning, he told me it was an occlusion cyst and removed it in the office. He indicated that it may never return or it could come back and removal could be done by me by applying hot compresses and gently squeezing. He showed it to me, it was a white lump. He also assured me that it wasn't cancer. Thank God!
I notice it mostly while taking a bath because it leaks out while in the warm water. I find that through the day my nipples become irritated a little itchy from the discharge drying. I had an ultrasound done on one of my breasts that tends to be tender and there is some fulliness. The results showed no lumps and I was told that my breasts were very dense and that it was very unlikley that at my age that it was cancer. I have a history of Breast Cancer in my family.
I have had a small rash with discharge under my right nipple for about 4 weeks, it dries up then starts again and is itchy at times but not painful. When it first came about it was swollen and tender much like a cellulitis but now it does look like eczema. Has anyone had a similar occurence and could it be hormone related or precancerous. I had been breastfeeding two months prior to this without problems.
I am 26 yo F. I have always had lumps in my breasts. For the past year or so my nipples have also started to point up, and invert in. My PCP has told me when I asked about breat cancer that I am to young to even worry about it...but this is always on my mind. Is this something to be worried about? I know I need to do monthly tests, but I always feel lumps so it's hard to tell if there is a new one or one I should be worried about.
I would doubt cancer at her age .... inverted nipples occur due to something in the tissue beneath the nipple that is pulling the nipple inward. This doesn't necessarily mean that the problem is cancer .... it could be any number of things. Some women have inverted nipples for years for no apparant cause. If there is an itching problem then it is probably some type of skin irritation since the skin on the breast is the same as skin on any other part of the body.
Has anyone ever had really try nipples before/when the found out they were pregnant?

Does any one know what it means when your nipples are itchy its only my left one and i am naseus aswell ?

Everytime I knock or touch my nipples they have gotten even more sore and itchy...is there anything I can do to help them not be so sore?
Hey, i have read that when you are pregnant your nipples are "sensitive",would that mean they keep getting erect? Lately i find mine just won't calm down and it's starting to hurt! I've also had a few other symptoms, like my last period was lighter then usual and I never get light periods and no cramps unless i've been working out ( which i haven't been for 3 months or so) and one more thing, someone pointed out my boobs have gotten bigger.
Now for the last couple days my nipples (only nipples) have been very painful. They seem to be hard all the time and that makes it worse. I cannot wear a bra unless I want to be in pain all day. What can cause nipples to be this painful? They are not dry or cracked. I am also feeling bloated....
i would guess that changes in temps may cause changes in nipple color? also when nipples get errect, they do get darker, which im sure you also know. i also think there may be a circulatory problem as the other poster suggested. check in your phone book. they list lots of places you can call (like a hotline) for breast issues. do this for now while you wait for an appt. to go to the dr.
A friend of mine has had an inverted nipple that the Dr. has been watching for some time. At one time she actually had a little blood coming from her nipple as well. Now she is experiencing a lot of redness, inflamation and pain of the breast. She has had an ultrasound and is waiting for the results. Should she insist on a biopsy or ultrasound? Are these symptoms indicative of Breast Cancer? Thanks!
So right now I'm 30wks and 4 days and for the past month my breasts and nipples have been very itchy I mean like crazy. I would try my hardest not to scratch but eventually I give in and start scratching. Is there anything I can do or what so you all suggest? Please anything would help.
I have had a thick greenish (dark) discharge from my left nipple for as long as i can remember. My nipples tend to get itchy and tender each month...I have previously breastfeed 3 children and the youngest is 6...Last year i had a ultrasound and mammogram as i have a strong family history of breast cancer...
I was awoken last night with some very severe itchy in my left breast. I have had breast agmentation about 7 years ago and have had no probelms. But the itching has gotten worse through the day. I itching is coming from inside my breast, I don't have much sensation on around the outside since my surgery. The only way to stop the itchy is to pressure on my breast. Is this as serious as I have found online- llike cancer?
Like Jenster84, in addition to the itchy left palm I often get an itchy sensation in my right nipple. It drives me crazy! I only experience the itchy palm when I am up (as in not lying in bed) and mostly when I am sitting at my desk. Years ago I experienced a problem with both of my hands itching - to the point that I would make them bleed when I scratched. That finally went away and didn't have any problems until recently when my left palm started itching.
Three weeks ago I noticed that my left nipple was itchy but no scaling or discharge. No change in any detergents and it is just the left nipple. At times, it is a little red. None of the rest of the breast is red of feels warm to the touch. The itching comes and goes and is not so severe that I must scratch it and I have not scratched it. It is now always sensitive. My wife cannot find any lumps.
But we remained very confused as to what exactly I have - if I had outbreaks on my nipples only, does that mean that the virus is only going to be located on my nipples, and that outbreaks will only appear on the nipples and breast area? Or does that mean I could have outbreaks on my genitals and mouth? Could I still pass on the virus through unprotected intercourse, even though I was not diagnosed with Genital Herpes and never had an outbreak there?
