Hi, I have for the past few days started to get cold like symptons, started with a sore throat, then blocked ears and blocked nose and now my right eye look red and feels a bit itchy. Hi, I recently moved to Florida and appear to be suffering from allergies. People have told me that the new area may be what's causing the problem. Last year I got sick twice and both times people were saying allergies could've been the culprit. This year (in early January) I started with an itchy throat. Back in December I had a problem with my ears itching (I assumed they were just dry and used Mineral Oil to ease the itching).

Around late January, I had an acute attack of itchy throat accompanied by a horrible non productive cough. Along with the cough I get a metallic taste of blood in the back of my throat. The attack can last for hours or until I break a allergy capsule in my mouth and swallow it without water, that and over regular antihistamines keep it down for a day or so, then I have another attack. I live in the south and at this month of March our pollen count is up around 5000...
hi i have a badly swollen face especially under the eyes-can hardly see my eyes. my skin is red and itchy and oozes. my throat is scratchy. i am in mexico for 6 weeks and developed this suddenly in the first week. i don't know what to do and am in severe pain. i am worried that it is chagas disease but the head of research says no. (i am at a biological reserve in jalisco, as my husband is on sabbatical). could you tell me what it is? i had fish ceviche the day it happened but am not allergic.
I've had the same symptoms as most of you, swollen and itchy eyes and lips that comes and goes. My whole face was also itchy. My fingertips have little bumps all over them. I have not changed anything in my diet or cosmetics. I went to the doctor and she said I have eczema and gave me Desonide cream for it. This helped a lot for the itchy face but all the other symptoms(swollen and itchy eyes and lips, and bumpy fingertips) have returned.
I am still dealing with dry eyes since early February '07. I went through a bad winter, with more colds and illness than normal and feel like I haven't been the same ever since. I had a blood exposure in later Oct '07 at work and got sick a week later with a bad sore throat (coincidence?), then was sick a couple other time right afterwards...felt out of sorts for about 7 wks. Over this time I developed dry mouth. Not sure if it was due to all the stress and anxiety or an underlying disease.
I have rashes inside of my eyes, nose, ears, throat ( I have a mild case of discomforting tightening in the throat and my chest) scalp, esp., in between my toes, hands, palms of my hands and feet (my hands and feet feel like all my blood is rushing in upside down) my face. Due to all day itching for almost over a month, most of my body is severely bruised...yuk!
But each summer for the last two summers, my eyes, nose, throat and lungs burn - especially I think when the AC goes on. No runny nose or sneezing or itchy eyes. It just burns. Like the AC lubricant or freon or radon or something else? No one else in the family feels it either! Oh and my lymph nodes swell up, too. Last winter though, it went away and I was fine for months. Then it started to get warm and it came back just as strong. I can hardly stand to be in the house.
The symptoms of my allergies (grass, ragweed, dust, mold, cats and cockroaches) has always been itchy eyes, sneezing, congestion and an itch in my throat at the sides of my tongue about where the Eustachian tubes drain. For the past couple of months the throat itch has become more like an attack of pin jabs further down the throat that makes me cough until I gag.
But it has other associated signs and symptoms such as cough, runny nose, inflamed eyes, sore throat, fever and a red, blotchy skin rash. Hives or urticaria causes red and sometimes itchy rash on the body such as face, neck, trunk, arms, and legs and perhaps anywhere on the body. They are usually allergic (food, medication and insect stings) but may also be due to infections and stress. Many a times no specific cause for them is ever found.
When hay fever was bad I would use a saline rinse in my eyes and in my nose and in my throat every hour to wash out pollens. My dust allergy got so much better once we got rid of all the carpeting. I now use indoor/outdoor rugs only as they don't absorb dust. I still have dust and tree allergies as well as cat and am sensitive to smokes, perfumes, fragrances. When I buy a new product I try to get hypoallergenic ones without fragrance.

You should drink plenty of water, eat a healthy balanced diet, try some calamine lotion for your skin, warm saline gargles for your throat and tear drops for your eyes - and schedule an appointment with your doctor. Let us know about how you are doing and if you have any other doubts. Regards.
Started with a sore throat.
hives (raised red blotches, itchy or painful) swelling of the tongue/ lips/ throat, dizziness, and other symptoms like itchy watery eyes and asthma. I would suggest you obtain a referral to an allergist or an ENT who does allergy testing. That is the only way to reliably know what is causing your allergic reaction. Some allergies can be life-threatening as they can precipitate anaphylactic shock in which the swelling can be so severe that it impairs the ability to breathe.
My energy levels are much better but still find from time to time that I have a sore throat and notice that my eyes feels dry, gritty and itchy - my righ eye is red on the lower eyelid. The primary symptom of rhinitis is a runny nose along with sneezing, watering of the eyes, congestion of the nose and itchy nose, throat, eyes, and ears. You are right in saying that steam inhalation is beneficial in rhinitis. Along with steam inhalation, you can take nonsedating antihistamines like cetirizine (Zyrtec) or loratadine (Claritin). Moreover decongestants and topical decongestants may help in reducing congestion of the nose.

I think you may be having more of an allergy/sinus problem. Itchy ears, throat, eyes, the pain in the back of the nose. Yep. I suffer from them frequently. What happens is your sinus drains to your throat (post nasal drip). This causes mucus to accumulate in your throat, cough, scratchy/sore throat. Do you get frequent headaches? Especially behind the eyes? You may want to talk to your doctor about this. If I am right, you may have to start on an allergy medication.
