Itchy eyes near tear duct

Common Questions and Answers about Itchy eyes near tear duct

itchy

Typically at least once a week, my right eye near the inside gets itchy. If I rub anywhere near it, the itchiness increases tenfold, sometimes so bad I have to put cold compresses on it to relieve it. My job is as a groomer so I deal with lots of hair flying around, but it never truly goes away, even on vacation.
need someones help!!! about 6 weeks ago my left eye started to get itchy near to my tear duct. At first i just thought it was dust etc but over the last few weeks the condition has got worse. Every morning when i wake up my eyes are really puffy, eyelids appear swollen, they feel sore and slightly bloodshot. This carries on throughout the day but slightly improves throughout the day, but then worsens again towards the end of the day. They are itchy a lot too.
Over the past 2 months, I have had red, itchy, swollen eyelids. Sometimes itchy near tear ducts. Nothing seemed to help, moisturers, vaseline, it would just burn. The right one worse than the left, and the right one started scaling over. Once the scales were gone, it almost looks like a sunburn. I have drier eyes too. Finally went to the family dr and he gave me a script for Elecon, and advised to use very sparingly. It helped but was right back if I didn't use it.
Now my eyelids a swelled very much so and my eyeballs itch as if I have cotton or sandpaper in my eyes. My eyes arent red just swollen and itchy. I do not have allergies and the eye doctor said that if my symptoms did not clear up to come back. Does anyone know by chance what it could be or what I can do for my symtoms? I have never had this problem and my symptoms are changing everyday and not in progressing towards clearing up. Help!
I have tried over the counter eye drops once or twice when I had itchy eyes but that did not help much. I read somewhere it might be a blocked tear duct and that I should massage it. I did not understand the instructions that clearly so I am pretty certain my attempted massage is very incorrect. Any help would be appreciated. Its only in one eye.
The swelling is really painful and is also along my nose and tear duct. Of course, my lid is hugely swollen too. Discharge, itchy, red, red, eyes, etc. Headache too. I'm at a loss. It's the swollen glands on my right side that are concerning me. Thanks!
It said to put warm compresses on them and to take a q tip with baby shampoo on it and cleanse the eyelashes. 2 days later it was gone. Also had dry eyes, that the opto put in tear duct paks in eyes that helped alot.If you haven't been to opto dr. its a good thing to go, he also found cotton wool spots( blind spots) fron the interferon.Hope it clears up for you.
Dry eyes and allergies and blepharitis are not highly likely because they are usually bilateral and not hard to diagnose. I would say the most likely diagnosis is a partially blocked tear duct on the symptomatic eye. I would suggest seeing an oculoplastic surgeon Eye MD. If you live in the USA find one near you at www.aao.or OR contact one of the ophthalmologists you've seen in the past and ask them to refer you to an oculoplastic surgeon.
I hadn't worn any make-up or used any products on or near my eyes at all on Sunday, so I'm confused as to what caused it to return. On Monday and Tuesday, several people commented on the state of my eyes, especially the right one, which seemed to be in a worse condition. My eyelids were dry and painful to touch, especially in the corner and it was continuously weeping, until yesterday afternoon when it seemed to heal up to the point where it looked sore, but no longer felt it.
I have had this problem for well over a year now. I lived in Florida until March where it is humid and California where it is very dry. This has persistently gotten worse in Cali. Late last year when I had health ins. I went to a dermatologist that prescribed to me (2) different expensive creams that only made it worse. My Mom had the same problem and gave me "Desonide," which is a steroid, and as you know dangerous near the eyes.
So later I learned that it has atropine in it and I wondered if that is what eventually led to the dryness since I used it for so long. Never had tear duct problems though. Still don’t. Mostly I have just linked it to dry air and have been dealing and complaining and God knows I’ve been blowing for a year and ½ now. I have believed it was this condo because it’s the only change I made that was different. I bought dust mite mattress and pillow casings, and saw no difference.
I keep hearing and reading how Urticaria, usually has signs on the skin surface but I don't, except for the really bad itchy feeling. Sometimes I question whether or not I have something else because it's really bad and it feels like I have a sudden burning rush of nails/needles stabbing my skin and I can't even move but only twitch. It's like this on a daily basis with my skin, whenever my body temperatue goes up. I feel like my body's thermostat is broken and I'm constantly overheating.
The pain is odd at times and since it affects my eyes, worries me a lot. I am really near-sighted as it is, so I don't like other things interferring with my eyes. The pain has evened out now more to the front of my face though. Also, I have constant post nasal drip, but little or nothing coming out my nose. Are others having this? I hope the ENT can help me. Good luck to all.
Thanks for the info Melanie, Since I've been taking Vicodin I have noticed darkening around my eyes and eyelids with bags under my eyes, also the whites of my eyes are no longer clear, they have taken on a hazey slightly pink glaze. The darkening is worse on my left eye, it's darkest in the corner near the tear duct. It hasn't made any difference how much sleep I get, I usualy get eight hours sleep a night. Could this be caused by Vicodin or could something else be causing this?
Hi, I too have upper right quad pain just below my ribs. I am a male, 46yrs old 6ft and weigh 175 lbs. My pain comes and goes and has for about 6 months. It is not severe pain, but at times is more annoying than anything. It feels like there is something in there pinching me. I went to an internal med MD in July. He ran blood tests that all came back fine. He sent me to have an abdominal ultrasound which showed only "healthy" organs.

okay i've had this for about 3 days now which is my first time. it's stinging because it's near the place i pee. then on top of that i've had the flu & today i started my period again so it stings x289432 when i pee. :( i've started my period cycle about 2 1/2 years ago i think i see the puss area which is where it stings. unless i'm looking at the wrong thing.
Thats basically my situation too. There's a low level 'mustiness" but no prevailing odor. Someone at work told me once, they knew I was near because they're nose started itching. Another question for everyone: Who has had any skin rashes (including scalp), especially chronic or recurrent ones? Were they identified? I'm looking into the possibility of a skin fungus/yeast. They're are strains of candida that live on the skin and can cause very severe rashes and hyperkeratosis.
Through all the terrible tragedies, I've never seen my father shed a tear. He went through the deaths of two siblings and never cried about it, and yet here he was...the hug he gave my sister and I before he went to hospice was actually the only time he has shown any type of affection for us - but of course, we always knew that he loved us very much).
My biggest problem was the PIP joint locking up, which the stretching really helped (I did it to the point of pain with my eyes closed so I could focus on not re-injuring myself). I also found that beginning these exercises/stretches in a hot shower to be very effective. It has been 3 weeks since I last visited the PT and I have regained 90% of the movement, and hope for a full recovery considering I still have lots of swelling and muscle loss around the area.
The feelings change from tingling to burning to sore to pulsing to itchy. It is primarily on my left side, but I get a little on my right at times. I am on zoloft for the anxiety and working with a therapist, but the pain is still there. I thought there must be something seriously wrong with me. I can't believe how many others mention this same pain. Has anyone received any type of explanation from a doctor?
Our understanding is that one milk duct is involved and that the area around that duct will be removed. The objective, of course, is to remove any malignancy that may be present. He will also check the lymph system to ensure that nothing has moved to those nodes. I am hoping that someone out there who has knowledge of this procedure can answer the questions that I don't even know to ask.
When the doctor pressed near the belly button, I felt pain there and it radiated to my lower right abdomoen. I had a CT scan which showed normal apendix and gall bladder. As a matter of fact, they said everything was normal from the CT scan. However they never mentioned ovaries, uterus or any of the reproductive organs. What they DID say was that I was experiencing muscle spasms. Yet, they didn't say what muscles were going into spasms.
Hi again ladies. I'm curious and forgot to ask. Is this your first IVF? I was so excited about you, Lwitte, I was telling my DH last night and he was asking if this was your frist attempt. We know the chances are 50/50 but it's so nice to hear about others getting a BFP! Talk to you both soon!
If I had my choice over again I would not have gotten involved with porn, I feel that it is to late for me now, I must admit looking at porn helps me to achieve orgasm easier and I do enjoy it so I dont expect to stop in the near future, from what I have read I guess I am lucky I can still reach orgasm at my age.
