It includes softening the lid margins, removal of lid margin debris, applying an ophthalmic antibiotic ointment and avoiding the use of eye makeup. Application of hot compress could further facilitate recovery. This needs to be practiced long term for relief from repeated attacks of allergic symptoms.

645800 tn?1466860955 Hi Dennis, From what i'm aware, itching, burning and watery eyeballs would generally be the more common signs of allergy or infection. If the itchy eyeballs precedes the burning and watering and it's also happening at different times and not everyday, to me it actually sounds like it 'could be' an allergic reaction to something eg pollen, grasses, dust, animal, medication, aircon/heating etc.
Avatar n tn Hello, It is unlikely for the water urticaria or water allergy to develop all of a sudden. It seems that you may be allergic to pollen , dust mites etc which may be causing allergic rhinitis and itchy, red , watering eyes. Other possibility is of any eye infection causing red eye. Allergic rhinitis is a collection of symptoms, predominantly in the nose and eyes, caused by airborne particles of dust, dander, or plant pollens in people who are allergic to these substances.
Avatar m tn Could it be that the pollen process this year was a bit later for all over the country due to a brutal winter? Just a thought that maybe your shots started to take effect earlier bcz of the later pollen --- the other thought is that maybe since this isn't the first year you are getting the shots maybe your body is beginning to form some immunities ??? Just my two cents as a member, not a medical professional.

Avatar n tn t think it is going to help you if I gave you a list of 20 possible things it could be. That would be pure speculation. Avatar f tn Right now the pollen is high and i just woke up in a sneezing fit and my eyes are crazy itchy. I dont know what to do about this. I feel helpless. Is there anything i can do for allergies?
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, swollen eye indicates allergic conjunctivitis or angioedema. You have a positive history of allergy. This can be complicated by bacterial or viral infection. Also swollen eyelids or face, esp. in early morning, are sign of kidney disorder. The renal disease (kidney) like nephrotic syndrome, glomerulonephritis, and renal failure can cause such symptoms. You need to undergo urine analysis, renal function tests and radio imaging of the kidneys to rule out the cause.

7639611 tn?1392877261 Since this is the first winter in Colorado and a great change from New York climate, the red, itchy, flaky skin could be due to extreme cold. This causes extreme dryness of skin. Apply a good moisturizer three to four times a day and use a mild soap with good quantity of skin softening ingredients (called emollients). You also get medicated emollient soaps over the counter which you can use. Keeping a humidifier in room is a good idea.
2039791 tn?1329805342 Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens. These are substances like pollen, dust, animal dander, certain foods, insect venoms and certain medications. Exposure to allergens causes a runny nose with a resultant post nasal drip where secretions from the nose go backward into the throat and irritate. You will need to consult your primary care physician for proper clinical assessment. In the meantime for relief from your symptoms you could do warm salt gargles and take OTC antihistamines.
Avatar m tn I sneeze so much that the next day my upper body is extremely sore. I get the itchy eyes with it as well. I have Flonaise(sp?) but have not used it consistantly. I usually take Claritin dissolve tabs which help a little. Can anyone PLEASE reccomend a better treatment.
Avatar f tn Urticaria is usually triggered by allergens, such as drugs, foods, insect bites, inhaled substances, in response to sunlight, cold, heat, stress, exercise, or a viral infection. Other common allergens are pollen, mold, dust, pet dander, or cosmetics. Since you experienced an itch, just go over these possibilities in your mind. Something may strike you. In many cases, hives clear up themselves and don’t require diagnosis or treatment.
Avatar f tn Make sure my hands are clean 24/7-obsessive washing basically- allergy eye drops really help eyes, saline nasal spray helps clear dust/pollen/anything irritating my nose, and believe it or not lozenges help clear my airway and help me get a handle on my sneezing and itchy throat. I do all of these together for the best effect. If you are having swollen. and super itchy eyes, do the drops and then put a cold wet cloth folded over them for about 10 minutes. It can REALLY help.
Avatar n tn Seasonal allergies are generally due to pollen or dust. Any cosmetic you apply on face or eye or even for your hair like shampoos or dyes too can cause allergies. Over the counter antihistamines, decongestants, non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs all help. However you must consult an eye specialist or your family physician first. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
