itchy

Thanks for all of your advice on itchy arms - I have suffered this problem for 30 years -it is getting much worse now as I get older - calamine lotion used to help years ago when it was mild -then i started taking antitistimines and they helped for a few years, but now at 55 even they no longer work. It is much worse in the summer months.
I have suffered from unbelievable burning/itchy arms for over 25 years. Ice was the only thing that gave me relief. I scratched until I bleed and it came and went with the most severe problems in winter and at night. Same pattern for so many of you who posted here. I have been to 22 different doctors - dermatologists, internists, neurologists, Therapists, Herbal remedies, Acupuncture - no answers at all. Then I find this web site and people are talking about Chiropractic relief.
I have been suffering from itchy arms for about 10 years now. I am actually up right now in the middle of the night with ice on both arms. It is awful and defintely wakes me up. If this is related to the sun, how do you avoid the sun on your arms. I play tennis at least once a week and am a big sweater, so covering my arms would not work. Does anyone know if using sunscreen will help or does your arm have to be covered up?
all itchy arm sufferers....please look into brachioradial pruritus. My arms, and only my arms, have itched for 10 years. no rashes, no psiorias, excema etc. The creams, allergery pills..my list is extensive as to what I have tried but nothing worked. ---------------The only thing that helps are ice packs.
The rash is GETTING WORSE by day, it starts spreading on my neck, arms and legs..... Very itchy, some areas just flare up like sunburne, others look like leopard skin with purple very itchy square-ish rash spots. I am taking Clarytin, Hydrocortisone cream, but nothing helps much. The talk seems to be ok on the inflamed areas, but not enough. anyone knows does the rash disappear after you finish treatment? How fast?
My mom has been getting the same itchy bumps on her arms for almost a year now. Nothing seemed to work until I suggested she start taking an Antihistamine. This seems to help alot. She has no history of allergies, bug bites or what have you, but she does get cold sores and suffered a severe outbreak on her entire face due to contracting bacterial menangitis where her immune system was so impaired, the herpes ran rampant.
I to have suffered from itchy arms for about 10 yrs. I rinse my arms in cold water for awhile and it has a temporary result. Now it seems to be only on my right arms, sometimes I swear it's just nerves, but caffeine and stress seem to set it off. I've tried creams from the dermatologist, and no luck. Seems to make it worse. I'm interested in lack of estrogen problems. Two times my dermatologist gave me a shot of cortezone, and boy did that help for about three months, then back again.
The skin constantly stays red and irritated even when i haven't touched it for hours, and the bumps never change in size or shape. It's almost like having red arms with extreme, itchy, goosebumps, except concentrated on the inside of my arm. That's how many bumps there are. And the rash stays warmer than the surrounding skin all the time. Can someone please help me? There's got to be something that can be done, I'm about to itch the skin right off my arm.
i also suffer from itchy arms i cop many weird stares from passers by when im standing in street on a hot day tearing my arms to pieces from itchyness i have been to many doctors and dermatologists all have no idea what it is caused from but all prescrfibe creams that just dont help i have two young kids and in my despiration 1 day to stop my itching found that paw paw cream relived it temporarly ....
I have almost unbearable itching on my arms. There are raised bumps, but they are not terribly noticeable until I have scratched them into bleeding and scabbing. I've used Banadryl cream to no avail. I have had some sun exposure (sunny Texas)but the rash preceded that. I have had it for several months. I have few allergies - Texas Mountain Cedar, cat dander, molds, but they typically present as respiratory or sinus complications, not dermatological.
My daughter who's a holistic health practitioner and aromatherapist uses a few drops of Organic Peppermint Oil over the itchy areas. You may also try Aloe vera gel, as this works well too. ACV (apple cider vinegar) may help also, but do a test on a small area first, just in case you react. The above suggestions are for relief only, not cure. Wish you well.
Now have perhaps 30 each side of my back, with some down my arms and a few appearing on my chest. They vary in size from a couple of mm to 1cm accross, though there is one much larger on either side of my back, maybe 2cm. The spots are a dark red colour and are slightly raised. Some larger ones have a 'crusty', dry appearance. The spots do not particularly itch, and I have noticed no other unusual symptoms. Any ideas? Cheers.
And I have chicken skin at the top of my arms. My mum says its rubbish when they say its a syndrome or disease. I get itchy legs for standing 3+ minutes. Any help is good. Thanks.
I have dry red itchy spots on my inner arms. I rarely get them on other parts of my body. They come and go. They can get really itchy, but I try not to scratch them, because if I do, I can feel my whole arm skin throb with pain. It can keep me up at night for sure. I've tried using lotion, but I think the fragranted lotion I have makes it worse/doesn't help.
I'm also going through one of my itchy rash periods right now -- under my upper arms, on the insides of my thighs and lower legs. Noticed several other people posting about this. I take Levoxyl and am due to have levels tested. Has anyone found anything that really works to ease this itching? I've tried the Aveeno soaks and use Sarno cream. One doctor says it's yeast, another says it's atopic dermatitis and prescribes a steriod cream. Have had this last episode for about 2 weeks.
Hi, I got this really annoying itchy rash 2 weeks after giving birth vaginally to my daughter. medicine and sarna lotion don't seem to work. It itches even more when I scratch and at night. I heard other moms had postpartum rash too. What can I do to alleviate the itch and what is the cause? I breastfeed and it's unbearable at night with the itch.
We did not use Rid or Nix (permethrin), only a couple different otc natural remedies. We did not seem to have any allergic reactions to those remedies, whose ingredients seemed fairly mild, when we used them...With all of the other symptoms I also got these weird dark moles and my older daughter has white patches on her legs now, but again, we don't know if they are related to the rest of the symptoms either, but noticed all happening this summer!
I have blisters on several of my toes (on both feet) and it's not from athlete's foot or poor shoes. The blisters are extremely itchy/sore and are the size of a pea. I have one on each of the first 3 toes starting with my big toe. They are mostly on top of my toe between the last knuckle and my toenail, but one is on the side/tip of one toe. They are not true blisters in that there is no fluid sack. It is simply a very swollen and red hive. It seems like really firm and inflamed tissue.
OK, I'm 36, and I've had the same itchy leg problem since I was in elementary school. It only comes up when I walk or jog in COOL weather, not in the heat of Summer. It happened again this morning and I hate it! It can definitely drive someone completely insane! I'm not sold on the 'rise in body temperature' theory b/c I'm able to exercise when it's hot - and we also have a hot tub that has never given me a problem... I'm so tired of not knowing why!
Since the outbreak I have had itchy palms and occasionally itchy ankles and feet, but my only outbreak of DH is on my elbows. Celiac Sprue or an allergy to wheat can be very silent and difficult to diagnose without the proper blood tests or biopsy of the small intestine. I'm hoping that following a gluten free diet will resolve my DH and itchy hands and feet, not to mention my chronic anemia.
It was all red and bubbly skin. My arms and hands broke out with 100s of little itchy bumps (like an allergic rash). In days, it spread to various parts of my body including my scalp, my stomach, my thighs (front and especially back) and my forefeet. I can only sleep several hours and am awakened especially by a burning, itchy (suffocating) rash around my neck. The little bumps stay but kind of fade out after a couple of weeks. The itching attacks come randomly throughout the day.
For the past 5-6 weeks, I've been having numbness/tingling in my arms, hands and legs and feet. I've also had tingling in the face area.........mouth and tongue. My eyes sometimes feel itchy as sometimes my skin. I've had headaches and felt light-headed. Sometimes my face gets flushed and so do my arms, like I'm burning under my skin. My finger joints feel sore. I can't hold a book or magazine and turn the pages, my hands and fingers feel sore.
but I'm still itchy and there's a rash on my arms that comes and goes (it's here now, tho)... Also, I have beautiful aloe plants, and having been using that, too... it's a bit messy, but works... :) I just started week six (with INC), and am UND at 4 weeks... yea!
I think i could also be linked with allergies because my husband has allergies and he always is itchy as soon as he wakes up he is itchy as soon as he gets out of the shower he is itchy it never stops! I always get him to wash himself with qv wash its ph balanced and qoats milk soap it is soothing and helps him a little bit. I have herd oats are good too for itchy skin.
My Legs are soooo itchy!!! I keep putting on lotion every time it gets really itchy! I itch so hard, I end up getting cuts and scrapes on my legs! I guess it's a good thing I bite my nails. When I stopped shaving and my hair started to almost fully grow back out it wasn't as itchy anymore or not itchy at all. It was like I forgot to itch my legs or something!
For 4 months, I have suffered from a numb, itchy, and cold/burning right upper leg. It is also sensitive to the touch and I sometimes get stabbing pains in the same area. In June it started as a quarter size area...now it has increased to my whole front leg. I do have an appt. for an MRI next week, but am very curious about this until I get a final diagnosis. The doctor I chose to go to did not offer much info...he thinks I may have a damaged nerve in my back.
I have had problems with the palms of my hands for about a month and a half now. Started out with itchy, red blotches, now my palms are just itchy, peeling, and look striated. A little better, but no great improvement. Have tried everything over the counter, except for cortisone products. Can a deep burn cause these types of symptoms, and for so long? I had worked a part-time job at a mexican fast food restaurant. I stopped working there a week or so before these symptoms began.
I have had an itchy, blistering rash with numerous lesions for several months. At first I believed it to be poison oak, but the lesions will not resolve, and new ones continue to appear, despite having no further contact with the plant. The lesions are on my upper thighs, calves, and arms, and I recently developed one below one nostril, another on the middle finger of my right hand, and today a new one is forming on the same finger of the left hand.
I experience severe pain and numbness in my arms (especially my elbows) and hands when sleeping. Sleeping is difficult as a result. I can sleep as little as 15 minutes before the pain wakes me or sometimes a couple of hours... (this is when the pain is the worst). I usually just change positions and feel relief after a minute or two allowing me to return to sleep. This happens repeatedly all night... every night. This has been happening for several years. I am 44 yr.
Approx 2 weeks ago, I developed wrinkling (crepe paper look) on my forearms (near connection of elbow) and on my upper arms. My arms have gone from 44 years old to looking like those of a 60 year old woman. Approx 5 days ago my skin started sagging and I have now developed that "flap" by my triceps. My arms have always been my pride and joy..I work so hard at them, and they have been so tone,..now they look flabby and sagging with wrinkles. I am in a panic.
