Avatar n tn ve also been on Vagifem for 2 years and love the effect, however, my last ultrasound showed a build up of the lining of my uterus, so now I need an endometrial biopsy. My doctor said it could be from the Vagifem which is estrogen without progesterone. I just read the leaflet and it does say that if you have a uterus, you should discuss adding progesterone to your regimen to counteract the possibility of the vagifem causing this lining buildup.
Avatar n tn Hi there is now a generic for Vagifem, I am thrilled as the other was so expensive
Avatar f tn When Vagifem or Estrace is prescribed for a post menopausal woman with a uterus, should a progestin always be prescribed as well? I've been taking Vagifem for 2 years without a progestin, and now I have to undergo an endometrial biopsy because of some buildup of the lining of my uterus (I have no bleeding....it showed up on an TV ultrasound...small changes and endometrial thickness of 5mm).
Avatar f tn t change the color. It is not normal to have green discharge as a result of using Vagifem.
Avatar m tn I have been prescribed 2x daily Vagifem tablets as part of a fertility treatment with Clomid. I have been told that should I fall pregnant I would have to continue this treatment for 6 further weeks (~8 weeks treatment with Vagifem in total).
Avatar m tn Hello, Vagifem is inserted intravaginally. 1 tablet is inserted daily for 2 weeks, followed by 1 tablet twice weekly. However consult your doctor before starting Vagifem as it should be used under medical supervision. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn HI, I'm 27, my gynecologist put me on vagifem for vaginal dryness. My period is now a week late which is very unusual for my cycle. My boobs are achy but not sore to touch. Could my period be late and sore boobs because of vagifem??
Avatar f tn ll stop taking the Vagifem until I speak to her, but does anyone know if Vagifem is a risk factor if you have a post menopausal ovarian cyst? Thank you!
Avatar f tn ve just had gyno issues in past few months of a burning sensation inside my vagina and sometimes outside too. It is very uncomfortable at times. She prescribed me vagifem and betnovate to use for 3 months consistently before I go back to her. I'm worried after reading on internet about cancer being linked to it and so on. Also I know steroid creams can thin the skin however when I mentioned this to her she said that it's nothing to worry about and some women are On It for life.
Avatar f tn m a 59 year old post menopausal woman who recently had my 4th follow-up transvaginal ultrasound because of a small ovarian cyst. The cyst is still there (but quite small), however, my latest ultrasound has caused my doctor to schedule an endometrial biopsy for me. Here are the findings: "The endometrium measures 5mm in thickness. Tiny cystic changes are noted involving the endometrium. This finding was not seen on previous examinations.
Avatar m tn Has anyone anything good to say about Vagifem [Estradiol hemihydrate]. I have used it for only a week and have had bad headaches, plus terrible pains in my womb. Also pins and needles down my left arm, and even my teeth are feeling very sensitive. I can't believe this is doing me any good. All replies will be welcome.
Avatar m tn Has anyone else suffered the dreaded Vaginal Atrophy. Have been prescribed Vagifem which is helping a little. Main problem for me is burning after urination. Don't like using the prescribed betnovate cream too often as this burns. Now trying the yes products. Some days I seem much better and then the next day it returns with avengeance. Sitting at School working with children is not ideal and aggravates it even more.
Avatar f tn I was just given a prescription for Vagifem and I have my Uterus. I'm using it because I feel like my skin is tearing during sex. It's very painful. I'm not sure if it's going to work or not. The drug has so many side effects that I'm somewhat worred about taking it. It's one thing that I could harm myself, but what about my spouse?
Avatar f tn Hello again, I forgot to ask this in my prior post regarding Vagifem. I exercise a few days a week with weights...is it okay to continue lifting weights now that I know I have a cyst on my ovary or could I be risking having it rupture? Is cardio okay to do? Thank you all.
Avatar f tn I agree with cherie, i had the same problem, go speak to GP and he will prescribe hormone treatment to help there is also a pill you can insert inside called vagifem which help to plump up the skin inside again, to get things back to normal.
Avatar f tn I would not discontinue any of that medication without a doctors say. Prednisone is dealing with an immune issue, Heprin is thinning your blood so blood clots don't form. I take both these too. I would think your doctor would probably have you stop the estrogen and progesterone between 10 and 12 weeks. I know it's a lot right now to take but it's so very important to make sure you take these meds consistently right now.
Avatar f tn I am needing a rectocele repair, badly, if I can find someone who will take my traditional medicaid. What I want to know is how long before the surgery should we use the estrogen (I have both vagifem and estrace cream)? I had a hysterectomy, total and done vaginally, in Oct 2009, then bladder fell 2 months after, had the cystocele repaired and then around 6 weeks later the rectum and top of vaginal vault fell.
Avatar f tn There are sloughed epithelial sheets in my urine. I think that they have come from the urethral epithelium. Is it normal that there are thick epeithelial sheets in the urine sediment? They cannot be from vagina. The vaginal smear showed plenty of squamous epithelial cells (due to local estrogen). There were also some crystalline formations, maybe from gloves or from Lactal balans or Vagisan. The concretions were much like some CaCO crystals but also resembled those of starch (from gloves).
Avatar f tn After having had a hysteroscopy which found 'no serious problems', but did show some Atrophy, I've been prescribed Vagifem 25mcg pessaries. I've started using them but was concerned to find on reading the patient leaflet that these are HRT and I'm wary about the risks. I'm 61 and have been post-menopause (with no menopausal problems) for several years.
Avatar f tn Your tissues are so dry that they cut and bleed with any friction. Luckily, there is a remedy. A vaginal estrogen pill (Vagifem) or cream (Premarin) can be inserted into the vagina on a regular basis and it will help rebuild the tissue and prevent this type of dryness. I personally prefer Vagifem because it is less messy and each comes in its own applicator. You will still need to use something like Astroglide duirng intercourse to have even better results.
Avatar f tn It can really help with the burning and itching. I have also used Vagifem, which is a tiny tablet that comes with a slim applicator - no mess! When we go thru menopause those delicate areas can really take a beating and even if we take systemic estrogen those areas can still need some applied right there.
Avatar f tn Estrogen is used to help the viginal skin, mucosa, become more healthy so it will heal better after surgery. Estrogen does help some symptoms of prolapse such as urgency, vaginal dryness, frequent urinary infections.
Avatar f tn I am 51, postmenopausal, my official age of menopause is 47, my symptons have been repeated UTI which have been treated with antibiotics, I have also been on Vagifem which I must admit I have been very lax at taking and have only used one box, I did use the last one a couple of days before my symptons appeared, my symptons are, blood stained discharge for a day or two, pelvic pain, low back ache, lightheadeness and slightly bloated, I went to see my GP who has put me on a two week referral and m
564491 tn?1320360393 God gave us the knowledge to do the things that we do and what we need to pray for here is that God gives the doctors she is seeing Wisdom. If he decided to heal her, then GREAT! I am a Christian also. Now, as your your problems, did you know that oxygen can cause headaches to be worse? Maybe you need to turn your oxygen down a little bit. CBT is cognitive behavior therapy, something that would probably help your sleep problems, I am about to go through it myself.
8725523 tn?1399590462 Hi, Osphena (ospemifene) is a non-estrogen medication that reverses certain changes in vaginal tissue that are caused by menopause. Osphena is used to relieve pain during sexual intercourse in menopausal women. Premarin is an oestrogen cream and can be sued along with progesterone creams for better results. Consult your Doctor. Hope this helps. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations.
Avatar n tn Dear Healthy4now, I apologize for not being clear in my previous response. Let me try to explain again. Cervix is the lower end of uterus which is 2.5 cm long and has an internal and an external opening. Cervical stenosis is the medical term used to refer to a closed cervix. Most of the time it is the internal opening which is closed. In women with cervical stenosis (closed cervix), an instrument cannot go inside the uterus but microscopic cells in the cervix itself can be collected.
