Supposedly a temp of 38 or above is a hallmark sign of swine flu. My mum had everything else but the temp and was given tamiflu. For three days she slept in bed, looked really poorly and had sips of drinks. By the third day she began to improve. At the moment she's poorly in bed again with a throat and chest infection. I think everybody should be checked for swine flu. My neuro put me on amantadine for fatigue, this was one of the first anti virals that came out for flu.

Glad you are going in to get checked out. Weird that they are putting the two with swine flu on Tamiflu. I read that doesn't work for H1N1, but I guess they know best! It doesn't sound like you have many symptoms so far, so try to stay calm... I'm betting it's just a reaction to the vaccine...

i was about 7 weeks pregnant and went to the ER,they said they werent sure if i had the swine flu or flu but not sure so they treated me for the swine flu anyways because i was pregnant,they gave me tamiflu....i wanted to know if there was any risks to the baby from having the flu or from the tamiflu?

hi... i have recently been diagnosed with swine flu and am on tamiflu (with two days of the course left to go) I have also got some kind of chest infection on top on this and my doctor has given me prednisolone steroid tablets and an inhaler. the chest infection is not getting any better (cant get in touch with my doctor till monday now) what is worrying me today is that my breathing is still bad..and any slight movements walking leads to coughing and lack of breath....today though..

Tamiflu as I understand it was used for the Swine Flu. So it is not likely to work if you have a different strain of the influenza virus. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

I was just going to ask everyone that would to pray for me and the baby, my husband has just been diagnosed with swine flu!!!! I just got out of the hospital last week after getting a virus and being dehydrated, and not even two days later my hubby started coughing and running a fever, the minute the fever started I got a bag and packed my stuff and went to my moms till he got to a doc. My doctor started me on tamiflu when he got his results back just to be safe so I dont get it!!!!

OB says to take Tamiflu and start today, but Tamiflu is not recommended for pregnancy based on unknown reactions to unborn children. Hubby and I don't know what decision is the best for us. Any opinions? The prescription is waiting for me...just so scared either way. I am leaning towards taking my chances and not taking it, but that is not the recommendation. What if I harm my baby by taking it? What if I do by not taking it??

Some health officials are now recommending that people get three flu shots this flu season. The first two shots for H1N1 specifically, and one shot for the seasonal flu. However, the shots won’t be available in the US until mid October. I am taking steps to prepare myself now, instead of waiting on the vaccines.

i am 3 days into taking tamiflu and i need to say im thinking myself lucky that this is mild for a flue as unpleasant as it is, sore throat high temp general weakness and the worst part a very painfull chesty cough wich im off to see about later today as im told antibiotics will be needed if it turns out to be any kind of chest infection fingers crossed iv also had no hidiouse side effects from the tamiflue .

Hi Zodiacqueen, This is unethical because it will take away medication that is needed for people who have Swine flu. I think Dr. Choi mentioned this in one of his blogs.

I agree with whitie the major concern is children 5 to 17, secondly 5 and under, and thirdly pregnant women....... hardly the pattern we have seen with the normal flu. It is really important for everyone to get the "real facts" of how serious the swine flu is to the general population.... gosh I live in WA and one of our colleges of which many of my friends have children that attend and I have been around 2K of 9K tested positive for swine flu which made national news..

i went to the er when 7 weeks preg. and they said since im preg and think its the flu or swine flu,they treated me for the swine and being pregnant does make it worse...i was so sick and didnt want to go anywhere for about 2 weeks,and if they perscribed you tamiflu...that made me start throwing up....i hope all is well and you get feelin better sooner.

she said that there WAS something going round, but no, it wasnt swine flu. so, now i know i javent got swine flu. the simptons i have are lack of breath, wheezing, and coughing. they usually keep me up at night. i get up in the darkness, and reach for my puffer, and puff myself a couple of puffs, and i breath in and out slowly. my mum usually comes in to give me some cough medicence, and paracetomal.

I am being treated for it right now with Tamiflu...and I am absolutely miserable. Obviously, I am VERY worried about the potential complications it can cause during pregnancy. :( My doctor is most worried about dehydration, since I am already having preterm contractions and we obviously want to avoid delivering too early. Just thought I would see if any one else is experiencing/experienced this!

I received my swine flu vaccine yesterday and I'm glad tha I did.

Could this swelling be due to my previous bout of swine flu? Or a side effect of tamiflu? Even though I have no sign of being ill. The node is noticable, and is easily felt. It does not hurt, came on gradually and does not move. I have been to the doctors and have had several blood tests, which have been clear. Also a chest x-ray which was normal. I have now been referred to the hospital where I will be having a biopsy in March.

I heard a report this morning from the CDC that said anyone who has experienced flu-like symptoms probably has/had the swine flu, as the seasonal flu hasn't appeared yet.

I know you are all probably tired of hearing about swine flu but where I live in Texas it is running rampant I have always been a worrier and always think the worst of everything. I have had a pretty rough first pregnancy. They found a subchorionic hematoma that was huge and I bled until I was 6 months pregnant. Would herpes cause strong flu symptoms without the sores? my doc recons i should take tamiflu as it sounds like swine/seasonal flu. hope it is! am of course goin for a sexual health screen but have been recommended to wait 2 weeks as things wont show before this.. so in the meantime.. i'm gettin a little worried. :( any advice would be very helpful. also.. any other stds cause these kinda reactions? I was just wondering if anyone has actually spoke to someone or actually seen anyone, either in person or interviewed, with the swine flu diagnosis. I mean with the actual dianosis by a Doctor and the CDC. I was just curious since I have a few friends that went to Mexico about 10 days ago for a wedding and noone has any symptoms or has been sick from the flu and there was 60 people that went to the wedding. I have not seen anybody come out on tv or by satellite that has the flu.

Hi ladies: I was just wondering if anyone has had or is planning on getting the H1N1 vaccination?? I was a little nervous about getting the shot being that I am pregnant and all but I was just watching the news and this lady had the swine flu last year and she was 27 wks pregnant and she actually lost the baby but she was ok. The docs had to put her in an induced coma for like 5 wks. They did take the baby out but the baby didn't make it.

You have no other symptoms that would indicate swine flu. Remember that H1N1 flu is much like the seasonal flu, and is only worse in people who have a compromised immune systems. The warmer than usual temps don't help either because that means more people out in close contact with others.
