Is skelaxin better than flexeril

Common Questions and Answers about Is skelaxin better than flexeril

skelaxin

Avatar f tn I just got switched to metaxalone 800mg and i cant say if they are better or worse than flexeril as they dont seem to affect me either. I am afraid to take more than two since they are 800mg but it might affect me, if it doesnt work i think i will switch back to flexeril as i feel safer taking a higher dose, honestly just because of the size of the metaxalone pills, which i know means nothing but I heard flexeril is the strongest so if something will help maybe that will.
Avatar m tn also, everyone is different. flexeril works for some and not for others. skelaxin works for some and not others. you may have to try different ones to see what works for you. soma is only dangerous when mixed with other meds. just my opinion.
Avatar m tn My pain clinic is no longer writing for soma. I have had flexeril, robaxin, skelaxin before and they aren't as effective. What can I try?
402205 tn?1230481005 I will try to avoid them right now tho because they make me sluggish and I am already fatigued with my cut in dose of hydrocodne..anything can be abused...skelaxin is a fairly safe muscle relaxer.....
Avatar n tn Hello Shirio and welcome to the Pain Forum: First let me tell you that I'm sorry for the discomfort. The meds you have are not meds that can help you type of pain. You need a stronger Muscle Relaxer like Flexeril or Soma. These will work much better than Skelaxin which in my opinion is the "Baby" of the Muscle relaxer meds. It is wise to stay on an anit-inflammatory like Motrin but you might want to try 800mg Ibuphropen (sp) Also.
Avatar m tn All of these non-narcotic medications are better choices than narcotics, as they are not subject to the tolerance that is such a problem with the narcotic medications.
Avatar m tn I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin. My lower back tightens up and I just need some relief. I have been taking it a bit more often than I did say 6 months ago.
Avatar m tn Celebrex, Neurontin, Baclofen, Skelaxin, Relafen, Flexeril, to mention some. Things thar really work for me are Baclofen and Lidoderm patches, although some days I still have the spasms. A Cervical MRI showed: Straightening is noted suggesting spasm. Correlate clinically.
Avatar f tn I just finished a course of oral prednisone which helped a little (maybe) .. I also started Adderall and that is helping .. I saw neuro yesterday and he upped the Adder. and may switch my Copaxone to an interferon .. depending on what the neuro-opthamologist says about my eyes ( very hinkey) .. Neuro also ordered Skelaxin for constant spasms ( some showed on my mri ?? ) , if that doesn't work he'll try Baclofin.
Avatar f tn The residual symptoms of insomnia and depression can last another few months. Thus, it is not easy, but it gets better and better over time and you can look forward to a drug free healthy energetic you in the future. When you take opiates for a long time like you have, your body's physiology has been altered.
Avatar f tn Same thing with having a muscle relaxer to take as needed. Flexeril, Skelaxin, Robaxin, Baclofen, or Zanaflex. This is very useful for those times with bad muscle spasms... Again...an opiate does not target spasms. An opiate just makes our brain not "care" as much. And sure, it can be a small part of one's treatment...but it should never be the main part.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I've tried both Soma and Flexeril (not at same time!) for muscle relaxers (I have fibromyalgia, lupus, severe arthritis). Really the only side effect I've experienced with the Flexeril is that it makes me VERY sleepy, but when I'm hurting and having trouble getting the rest that I need, that actually is a good thing!
1415174 tn?1453243103 t cross that leg properly and was told to stop trying to cross it for about 6 months until my pain when down. The pain is getting better but I tried again to cross it and it still is frozen. I need to be able to dress and can't bend either. Will I be able to loosen it up if I keep trying? Is there something wrong that I should get checked or is it just scar tissue? what should I do?
210982 tn?1280983895 There are many other muscle relaxers such as skelaxin and robaxin that are non addictive. Try those instead. Soma is merely a barbiturate in sheep's clothing.
Avatar f tn You best get to a nurosurgen fast and have a mri done!! Ive been having probs for years with fms neck and back degeneration, ect...my docs screwed around with me tooo long not believing my pain... so now i just had to have forastic herniated disk sugery!!!!! Your pain is just like mine was when mine blew out , then i got to were i couldnt bend over or even put my shoes on!!!!!!!! The pain under rib cage gets unbareable, and the upper back starts burning verticaly, the pain is so bad so go now.
Avatar n tn They are similar to soma - not as strong - flexeril is cyclobenzaprine (check spell)and soma is carisprodol.......
Avatar f tn Hi, I started taking ultram for multiple vehicle injuries. Ultram didn't work, they tried Tylenol3, tylenol3 didn't work they tried hydrocodone, that didn't work..so they tried percoset 5/325 6X a day. I got used to that dose now im on 7.5/325 6x a day. The more I NEED them. The more I want them. I am definitely addicted but it is not a good addiction. I get very mean, and emotionless over nothing. I go to physical therapy 3x a week. So it is all legit.
1415174 tn?1453243103 s impossible for me to guess if the Flexeril or one of your other meds are contributing to your PVCs, if that is what you have. Only a Cardiologist will have those answers and he/she may not be certain. You know you are always welcome here. However for this particular concern I think you will find more suggestions from ppl that know in our Heart Rhythm Forum. Here's the link: http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn So I do not have a lot of experience with medications, and I am not knowledgeable about anxiety disorders. All I do know is how Flexeril affected me, and that is why I think it is the culprit and source of your father's problems. I did a little research at the time Flexeril caused me suicidal ideation, and I read other stories like mine. Everyone is different and brain pharmacology is an interesting, infinite abyss.
Avatar f tn I have a very high tolerance when it comes to medication. I have a pinch nerve on my left shoulder (going to get it Xray to see what it really is), which only gets aggravated when I'm stress or overwork it in the gym. My Dr has tried Flexeril, Skelaxin, 500 mg of naproxen and it hasn't work. Now she prescribe tramadol. I have read bad things about it and its side effects. Everything is dated from a few years ago, so I would like update from anyone that is taking it.
Avatar f tn not really..skelaxin is not sedating as a rule..i am glad ur klonopin dose is not high...but possibly the reason u can not sleep is because of the adderall/as it is an amphetamine...u r taking sumpin to get u hyped up..then u r having to take sumpin to slow u down so u can sleep...do u see the cycle here? A muscle relaxer like zanaflex, baclofen, flexeril..many more can help right now..skelaxin may help a bit tho if u dont have the others...do u have any phenergan?
