Avatar n tn Whatever you do not let anyone perform the Potassium Chloride test (KCl test) because this test is only 70% reliable. Plus if you do react to potassium chloride (that is one of the theories) then it will be a very painful test. I was on the 30% who came out neg luckily my doctor (another doctor than the one who ordered the KCl did not go by the results but by my symptoms when he decided to the cystoscopy with hydro-distention.

1618806 tn?1304734477 Hi, You don't need to avoid them- just try to be consistent! It's much harder to monitor your potassium levels and see what effect the lisinopril is having if you go on "salad binges" or something like that. Haha. Fruits and veggies are great lifestyle choices- I don't think anyone would tell you to avoid them just because of their potassium content. I'd say just stay away from potassium supplements or salt substitutes like Mrs. Dash and you will probably be ok.
456906 tn?1208569831 i dont kno but i do kno i was taking my vitamins and wound up in the hospital beacuse i almost passed out when i was like 30 weeks pregnant. come to find out everything looked fine but my patassium was very low. so i had to take potassium pills in addition to my vitamins.....
Avatar f tn I also cannot not drink apple or orange juice (I am sure it also goes for grapefruit but since I do not like it, I will never know.) Also I know being gluten free helps because IC is autoimmune. I also take Elmiron-- it is a pain because I have to take three times a day on an empty stomach, but for me it is worth it. It is expensive I hope you have good insurance. Last did your doctor say how he would diagnose it-- the potassium chloride (KCl) test is not very reliable-- I know I had it.
Avatar n tn Potassium and Calcium and important electrolytes in muscles. Potassium is one of those electrolytes you dont really want to be messed up in your body. High potassium levels can cause heart dysrrhythmias, since your heart is a big muscle, Other signs of hyperkalemia(increased potassium) are nausea vomitting, restlessness, irritability, I am looking in my book right now to make sure i can give you the most accurate information. Chloride there is not much on.

Avatar f tn re already eating mostly gluten free unless all you eat is bread and pasta. And pasta is readily available made out of gluten-free grains, unlike bread, which is quite different gluten-free. In other words, using brown rice is still using brown rice. Spices still taste the same. You're just switching grains, not everything.
Avatar f tn s is a brand of gluten free baked goods you may find pretty good. Canyon Bake House makes a terrific gluten free rosemary focaccia bread that is actually soft and not crumbly.
Avatar f tn many people have tried going gluten free in hopes that it will help with thyroid. There is little evidence that it helps with thyroid specifically. However many people report feeling better in general. So regardless of whether or not it helped specifically with thyroid, if they felt better then it was worth it. From what I've been reading, it takes at LEAST 6 months of gluten free as a minimum before you may start to see the benefits if any.
Avatar f tn My Gastro specialist says I do not have Celiac but gluten is like an allergy (multiple generations with gluten trouble). The hard part is sorting out what I need to take less than why. SamE has really helped with my arthritis in knees as well as mild depression from having to be mostly home bound. The trouble with multiple disorders besides lots of specialists is that they overlap. I am trying to find a naturopathic doctor.
Avatar f tn Luckily many grocery stores around me carry gluten free foods and there is a strict gluten free/dairy free/vegan bakery close by if I get a sweet tooth.
