Is oxycodone in percocet

Common Questions and Answers about Is oxycodone in percocet

oxycontin

Avatar n tn Percocet IS oxycodone. Oxycodone is the opiate ingredient in percocet. The -cet part denotes that there is acetominophen (tylenol) in the pill as well, so percocet is actually oxycodone with tylenol.
1452984 tn?1415426980 Yup, I'd agree with that.
590280 tn?1310087366 Percocet is Oxycodone and Vicodin ES is Hydrocodone.
Avatar m tn Dilaudid is a much stronger narcotic than oxycodone ( oxycodone is the narcotic ingredient in percocet). Percocet is tylenol and oxycodone combined. I think you will have much better pain control with the dilaudid for sure.
558096 tn?1255887002 Oxycontin is a 12 hour sustained release form of Oxycodone, and then there is an Oxycodone immediate release, taken every six hours, which I think is Percocet. Percocet is a combination of Oxycodone and Acetaminophen.
Avatar f tn I mean, I know Oxycontin is slow release, but percocet is Oxycodone and how is that different from the Oxycontin? I thought they were the same only, one was slow release and one was not, but there must be another difference... Right?
203003 tn?1210855907 5 mg and 10mg. Percocet is oxycodone and tylenol. Oxycontin is oxycodone in a time released pill. They used to make a capsule of 15mg of fast release oxycodone that people called percocet 15's but that was a misnomer. I'm not sure that they still make them here in the US.
667913 tn?1242700488 t have to take it as often(usually every 12 hours). Oxycodone is faster release. Percocet is oxycodone but it also comes stronger. Does she have a history of drug dependence?
Avatar f tn Percocet is Oxycodone and Acetaminophen. Percocet is a brand name and there is no liquid Percocet. There is a liquid version of Oxycodone and Acetaminophen called Roxicet, however. It's not necessarily measured in mg's though. It's measured in ml's in which 5ml contaings 5mg of Oxycodone and 325mg of Acetaminophen. Now that I've written all of that...I have to ask..why do you ask?
Avatar n tn Just a quick correction...Percocet is oxycodone with Acetaminophen, and Percodan is Oxycodone with Aspirin, not Tylenol. There are other, less common combinations, like Vicoprofen, which would be Hydrocodone with Ibuprofen instead of Tylenol (Acetaminophen). Vicodin, Norco, Lortab are all Hydrocodone. Dilaudid comes both in oral and injectable forms, with doses starting at usually 1 mg. Fentanyl patches typically start at 25 mcg/hr (micrograms). I have seen lower doses, 12.
Avatar f tn I have been there but now I have control over my pain. I am not pain free and still have flare ups but my life is no longer in bondage to pain. My pain regimen includes the Fentanyl patch which I wear for 48 hours along with oxycodone IR for breakthrough pain. I also take Gabapentin, a muscle relaxer, valium, an anti-depressant, and OTC Aleve. The latter list of medications are known as adjuvant medications which help the opioid medications work more effectively.
Avatar n tn Because saying Percocet is the only safe drug for your fetus makes no sense to me at all Percocet is still an opiate and is infact the exact same as the 30mg oxycodone you have been taking. The only difference is that the Percocet is a lower dose of oxycodone and it contains Tylenol but its the same narcotic in both meds and is no different except I would think Percocet would be worse because of the Tylenol which can be DEVESTATING to the liver.
699217 tn?1323438700 Here is the easiest way to look at it, (i think?) ... Percocet has tylenol in it, however, oxycodone and oxycontin are just straight percocet, no tylenol. I believe that oxycodone is the generic name for Roxicodone, which is also obviously percocet without the tylenol. Oxycontin and oxycodone are the same thing, EXCEPT oxycodone is a quick release tablet, and oxycontin is a slow release of the same med. Hydrocodone is the ingredient in Vicodin and Lortab.
Avatar m tn It is most likely the oxycodone in the percocet that is making you sleepy. Unfortunately it is just a side effect of the medication for some. I take hydrocodone and as the dose wears off I become sleepy. Sometimes if I am idle I can doze off for a few minutes. I find that caffeine helps. As soon as I take my next dose the sleepiness subsides. I am not positive but I think this is a fairly common side effect. I hope this helps.
1326416 tn?1370927001 I switched from Percocet which is (Oxycodone and Acetamiophen) to OxyIR....Plain Oxycodone....There is also Roxicodone (comes in generic as well) which is straight Oxycodone too. The maximum for Acetaminophen daily is 4000 although some studies are now lowering it to 2-3OOO. So...it's really not up to the patient...but the Dr. and what type of treatment they want them to be on. For me...I made the switch after having nausea more often...and now use the OxyIR as my BT medicine.
Avatar m tn As many of you already know, I'm in pretty bad shape. I am going back to my PM doctor on Wednesday. Since I have been switched from the fentanyl patch to ms contin for my around the clock pain medicine it has been mega pain city for me this month. Since I have been titrating to the correct level for my ms contin, I have been pretty much living on my hydrocodone, and as a result, it is losing its effectiveness.
Avatar f tn I would go with the oxycodone (percocet) over the hydrocodone (vicodin), because it's possible to get the oxycodone in it's pure form in a pill without the tylenol in it. The -cet suffix on the percocet is what denotes the acetominophen or Tylenol. In the generic form, it would give the mg strength of the pill (ie, 5/500) and then say APAP on the label.
Avatar f tn oxycodone is the drug in percocet and oxycontin. Oxycontin is just a brand name.
Avatar n tn However his drug of choice is probably percocet (oxycodone). Codeine is not nearly as strong as oxycodone and I assume his PCP is aware of his problems with oxycodone. Indeed it would take many codeine to compare to one oxycodone. His PCP may have prescribed him only enough for several days. If his physician felt he required the drug for pain he may be cutting him some slack. I have a friend that can handle hydrocodone without a problem but he can't handle percocet.
Avatar m tn 00 AM and along with it take a Percocet (Oxycodone) at 10:00 AM the answer is no, it is certainly not recommended. Ask the physician that prescribed both of the meds for you how he/she meant for you to take them. They are both narcotic pain medications. The percocet is stronger than the Norco. However that doesn't mean that it will work better. Hydrocodone works better for me than Oxycodone.
Avatar f tn Percocet is immediate release oxycodone with Tylenol Oxycontin is time released oxycodone
Avatar f tn I dont know about percocet but i know i was given lortab during my pregnancy.
