Vicodin is a narcotic and addictive by it's self... I would be cautious about asking for additional pain medication... Lyrica is not a narcotic but may help reduce your pain... make it more manageable, and help the Vicodin to work better... Personally I hate Vicodin and avoid taking it except when I absolutely have to in order to function... its just too addictive for my liking.

It sounds like you got a dose that was way too high. Usually, it takes a bit of experimentation to get the dose adjusted to the weight, age, and level of ADHD. You will get some good advice and support here but it is up to you to read some of the other posts so you can see what it is like to complete the beginning of this process but it is a lifelong battle. 2. Tapering off of psych meds is difficult too. Did he start you on anything else? 3. Anything worth having is not easy to obtain. I wouldn't advise trying to quit so many things at once.

Isn't there a law that states a doctor who gives you narcotic pain meds for several years then discharges you, that he has to, at least, write you out a prescription for one month so you can find another doctor?

I dont take more then the recommended dose which is 4 tablets a day. Panlor SS is acetaminophen, caffeine and dihydrocodeine. This may sound bad, but somehow I am out of my script 5 days early. My doctor wont renew my script till the 13th, and Im trying to figure out what im going to do for pain. The info I have on Q is 8 to 12 hours and I think the 8 hour range is more realistic. With him lasting about 6 hours he is on the low side of the range. As I said above - time of duration is a decent indicator of strength of dose. He is on a fairly low dose. I don't know his age, but I would imagine that the docs would start off low. And, adding a kicker of M in the afternoon is a fairly standard approach.

After reading your post I explained your situation to him, knowing there's NO way I could ever go. I just do not understand how a doctor could let you sit in pain and not help you. I know you said that the pharmacist is the go between, but can you buy anything not through a pharmacist? Tylenol, Ibuprofen that type of thing?

What dose did your dr give you of norco? 5/325, 7.5/325, 10/325? Norco is a different name brand of lortab with the same narcotic in it as lortab & vicodin which is hydrocodone. Norco has LESS tylenol in it....which is where the 325 comes in. Usually when you get your lortab it probably says hyrdocodone 10/500...so he is just reducing the amt of tylenol b/c it is hard on your liver. Hope that helped you some!

A lot of people say Tramadol is helpful. It is not considered a narcotic, though it acts like one on pain. (That was how my old doctor described it to me.) It made me very light-headed and tired so I got off it after a month. (I tend to be sensitive to medications and their side effects.) Although it's not narcotic and a lot of doctors will say it's not addictive, it seems as though it is addictive.
