marinol

Avatar n tn Marinol is legal in all 50 states from what I know, but is only available by prescription and is used almost exclusively for cancer patients. Medical marijuana is legal in 20 states and D.C. but not in Mississippi.

Avatar m tn Just to provide a little more detail on Marinol. Marinol is legal in the US and is available by prescription. It is not real marijuana but man-made or synthetic THC. THC is one of the psychoactive components in marijuana; however real marijuana has other chemical componds that Marinol does not such as CBD (cannabinoid) that isn't very psychoactive but helps significantly reduce inflammation, relaxes muscles, and relieves pain.
Avatar f tn People that do not know what they are talking about should not say a word until they do their own research. Marinol can be prescribed by any doctor, and it is legal. Stop giving advise until you know what you are talking about. That is the problem. Sandman2 do your research. People depend on advice and yours is wrong.
917763 tn?1311628896 Medical marijuana is not legal in our state. I spoke to my PA about getting Marinol for the awful nausea I had, and she said it's usually prescribed to cancer patients, and would probably be questioned by the insurance company. Instead, she prescribed Zofran, which is also used by cancer patients, and is very very expensive without insurance.
Avatar f tn The reason I ask is because there are some doctors out there that will support both medications as long as medical marijuana is legal in your state. They are hard to find but typically the doctor you would visit to get your MMJ license renewed would prescribe the opioids or refer you to another doctor that is MMJ Friendly. Another option is for you to ask the doctor for a prescription for Marinol...it is synthetic THC.
Avatar f tn Sad but true it is legal in some states in the USA I know a girl that went to nc and I had it done I was shocked I'm mean if u r tat for along and don't want that baby let someone who wants a baby have it
Avatar m tn Medicare coverage depends on doctor's DIAGNOSIS which must be "cachexia related to cancer" along with dose not exceeding FDA label maximum for the diagnosis. I do not know the FDA rules. The "alternative" is just dronabinol, the generic name of marinol. Marinol is synthetic THC, an oil/liquid at room temp, but provided as gel tabs which must be kept refrigerated. Marinol is NOT the CBD discussed on TV for kids.
620048 tn?1358018235 His facility will not recommend the use, but he supports the use if a doctor outside his facility recommends it. In Colorado, it is legal (Amendment 20 to the Colorado Constitution) and the recommendation costs about $60 a year. I guess to address twopack, the idea is not to get "wasted" like highschool, but to get enough to function or sleep and reduce the prescription drugs. No one has ever died from a Marijuana "overdose," but Tylenol kills several people a year.
1747881 tn?1546175878 t realize as mj is not legal here. My niece worked in California and talked to me about the shops. That they have 'doctors' in the shops to write you your script for medical marijauna if you have any symptoms that are on the store front (such as headache and other things that EVERYONE has from time to time.). This was never what I thought of for medical marijauna.
Avatar m tn Marinol is just pharmaceutical MJ, and docs cannot prescribe it for w/ds. I agree with the others, ride it out. Anything you're feeling won't harm you....just just have to get through it. Wanting to turn to another drug to ease the w/ds from the first drug is how people stay stuck on the merry-go-round.

Avatar n tn Chronic Pain has driven many a patient to make difficult and sometimes unwise choices. Medical Marijuana is not legal in most states. I think (hope) in time that the laws will change but for now it's illegal. I've read and heard that even in states with Medical Marijuana it is tightly regulated. It requires a prescription just as our opiates require one. Even in states were it is legal - taking it without an RX would still put you in violation of a Pain Contract.
Avatar f tn ) I live in Washington where even recreational usage is de-facto decriminalized. Medical use is legal for most chronic illness. Marinol is now only schedule III, which is less than most opioids (which Dr.s have given me without batting an eye). Part of it is that I see a psychiatrist, and have had to undergo evaluation for transplant. Both assesments have deemed me an exceptionally low risk for addiction. (In addition, there's been no drug abuse, alcoholism, etc.
1162446 tn?1262804903 The laziness it can cause really can be a problem with the youth of our country and people in general, however, people who are going to sit around and get high all day, are probably going to do it whether MJ is legal or not. Opium was also primarily smoked before they made it into the pain relievers we have today. I would hope they could make a class of THC based drugs that might be able to help people in the same way.
163305 tn?1333668571 I say if it helps, it should be available, period! It cannot be any more dangerous than the side effects that other drugs do.
Avatar f tn I don't think Marinol would be a replacement for any of the ms meds - mostly it will serve as a calming aid or as mentioned above to help people gain weight. It won't actually serve any neurologically protective function. My neuro when I first was dxed last month told me that there is a strong hope that an oral tablet option will be available by next fall/winter.
Avatar f tn Usually there is a law about how many years you can have between you. I think its 2 in my state. So if you are 16 and he is 18 its legal but if he is 19 or over its illegal. And yes if he got you pregnant and you are under age, or the other way, if he is under and you are over, then the person who is over age would be prosecuted for statutory rape.
