Is lump in armpit cancer

Common Questions and Answers about Is lump in armpit cancer

lump

I cannot assure it is something related to breast cancer. My mom had it too and removed it. Breast cancer runs in my family. When I touch it, around it there's nothing but right in the middle I can feel a bean-size lump. I notice that there was some pain but i didn't realize it until just a few days ago. I read also it is something related to pregnancy which I am not. Any answers will be appreciated..
my fiance is pregnant and has a lump in her armpit that just developed a month ago and the doctor scheduled her for a biopsy. my question is if it turns out she has breast cancer does that mean we will lose the baby due to treatment? She is only 7 weeks along in the pregnancy. please get back with me as soon as you can. thank you.
Also, a sudden painful lump in the armpit is more likely to be infection or some other type of inflammation. You do not state what type of x-ray is ordered. X-ray is useful for identifying some problems but not all. You may want to discuss the type of x-ray with your doctor to find out what he is looking for. If, in your doctor’s opinion, this is most likely infection, it may be reasonable to “watch” it for a week or so to see if it improves.
Now i stopped taking valtrex and i get a mild pain in armpits after i shave a week ago and had a lump on my right arm almost sure it is lymph node from what im reading in the internet. The lump is 1cm not big at all but it hurts. This was last week thursday, i applied warm water and stopped shaving and took a valtrex and a keflex, the next day the bump went down and the right armpit is so much better.
Hi, Usually painful lumps are not indicative of breast cancer, but any lump in the armpit is concerning. It could be a swollen lymph node which can enlarged due to shaving, waxing, using a deodarant and other infectious causes. If this lump persists more than 2 weeks and does not decrease in size.It would be better to consult your doctor for evaluation.
woke up one morning with a lump in my armpit..doctor put me on antibiotic for 10 days and told me to change deodorants so i did then on day 4 the lump went down, i continued what he told me but day 6 the lump came back, it is sometimes slightly tender but the tenderness comes and goes, I am worried it is something that I should take a further look into.
Hello, My wife has detected a lump below the skin in the armpit. She is 40 and has a mamogram 2 months ago. the test was clean, but because of th location of the lump i doubt that it was scanned. My wifes parents have both passed from cancer one from lung and the other from pancreas. The lump has been there for about three weeks and has recently become painfull the sensation that she has described is a burning when she lifts her arm.
We have a history of breast cancer in our family, most recently my mother last year, my sister has had a 4 mil. size lump in her armpit and she said it is really painful. She went to a doctor about 4 weeks ago who put her on a antibiotic saying he thought it was swollen lymph node. Not feeling satified with what he said and the lack of consern knowing the history of breast cancer in our family she went to get another opinion.
This is standard procedure for any breast change and does NOT mean that they think you have cancer. If the mammogram and ultrasound cant tell what it is, it does NOT mean it is cancer. If they think it needs more attention, they will probably do a fine needle biopsy and test the cells for cancer. If this doesn't work, a surgical biopsy may be necessary. Still, many biopsied lumps turn out to be harmless 8.
Both are very small, maybe 2mm in diameter, feels very hard, and is buried under the skin. I checked it out in the mirror, and you can't see it at all. There isn't any obvious swelling, I'm not on my period, and I'm not taking any meds. It doesn't hurt when you press it or anything, and it's actually very hard to locate, so it may have been there before and I may not have known. It couldn't be due to shaving because I don't shave every day and I found the lumps before I shaved.
2 days ago I felt a pea size lump in the middle of my armpit and now today I woke up with a pain in the area of the lump, felt that the pea size lump is now the size of a marble and real painful to the touch. Any ideas?
I do feel some soreness around the area sometimes, but not all the time. I've read that sometimes a lump in the armpit can have something to do with breast cancer. I was never too concerned about it until a friend of mine found a lump in her breast and I read up on breast cancer. Should I be concerned about this? I haven't had one in maybe three months, but the last one didn't bother me and I only noticed it because I put my deodorant on in the mirror. What should I do?
Now 5 months after being told of the second growth I have developed a small pea size lump in my armpit. I hate to go back to the doctor ( as all they want to do is the surgery at this time). Can you give me your opion about.
i think i hgave the same thing, i noticed it when i was in the shower. it is not red or anything it is just a hard lump in my armpit. i had a physical (breast exam, pap etc.) a few days before i found this lump and everything was normal. I dont really know what i should do. I dont have breast cancer on either sides of my family that i know of (dont know ALOT of family or about their health). If ya wanna talk more about this i would be glad to talk with you.
Lymph nodes can become enlarger for several reasons ... usually some type of infection somewhere in the body. There is also the possibility of an infected hair follicle. Enlarged lymph nodes are only occasionally associated with breast cancer. Regards ....
hi im 41yr old female. i found a lump 3 weeks ago in my armpit it doesnt hurt, been to the doctors who has refered me to hospital for test as she doesnt know if its cancer or not just by feeing it. i go next wednesday. iv convinced myself that it is bad news, iv got no lumps anywhere else, doctor checked my breasts, im worried to death. my neck and shoulders are aching aswell but hopefully i think thats just tension and stress from worrying, iv got no history of breast cancer in the family.
Hi, An armpit lump refers to enlargement of one or more lymph nodes under the arm. Lumps in the armpit have various causes. Cysts and infections on the surface of the skin of the armpit may be caused by shaving or use of antiperspirants (as opposed to deodorants). Abscesses under the skin may also produce large, painful lumps in the armpit. Lumps may occur when lymph nodes are swollen due to bacterial or viral infections, vaccinations, and cancer.
In this community, we are not necessarily medical professionals, but ladies with experience of brreast cancer. Most of the time, a sudden lump in your armpit is duer to something other than cancer, but it could still be a sign of infection or other problem. Making the decision to get it checked out is good. Is there a women's clinic in your area or a reduced-cost regular clinic?
Dear chrissy66: A lump in the armpit could be many different things. It could be a simple as an ingrown hair that has become inflamed. You do not mention your age or risk factors for breast cancer, so I will assume average risk. If the lump becomes hard, or does not begin to go away in the next several days, you should see your doctor.
2 Days ago I discovered a painful large lump in my armpit. I have not yet gone to see a doctor because I do not get insurance until January. I've looked up different articles in regards to lumps. They say if it's a painless lump that’s hard and fixed in place is more likely to be cancer than one that’s painful, softer, and moveable. Well mine is painful, but hard and fixed in place. From my armpit heading toward my elbow it's red. How worried should I be?
while on vacation in Mexico, I found a small (less than .5 cm) lump in my armpit... just to the side of my breast... it feels somewhat rubbery and moves very freely. I have called my Gyn. (about 4 weeks ago) and she told me to quit caffeine (I cut down to one cup of green tea a day but couldn't quit totally (headches!) and take vit. e. She told me to call her after my next period and tell her if it's changed. I plan on calling her as me period just ended and it's still there unchanged.
And recently I've been experiencing pain where the lump is and my nipple are scaling and peeling on that side. The lump is a lot larger than it was a couple of years ago. I do have fibroids all over my body, but this feels very different. When I sleep on my sides I feel the discomfort and have to switch positions. Laying on my left side and putting my right arm over my head the lump is very hard and large and noticeable. And I'm starting to worry that maybe I wasn't being so paranoid.
Hi! I have a few questions regarding a pretty large lump in my armpit. It has been there for about 3 mos.
I noticed about 2 months ago, a good size lump or knot in my left armpit, it hurts when u touch it. The way I found it I wasputting on my deodorant one morning and it burned really bad so I stopped using it and the next morning had a knot undermy armpit. I assumed it was caused by the deoderant clogging the pores under my arm and it was an infected hair or something , well it's Been 2 months now and it hasn't gone away. Should I be concerned that it maybe cancerous.
I have a golfball sized lump in my armpit doesnt cause me any pain but ive been pukimg everyday and very nauseous I also keep getting a sore on my inner lip getting worried please help.
I get this lump in my armpit and its really soft. When it pops blood come out. Is that cancer??
A swollen lymph node is usually caused by an infection somewhere in the body and it can stay swollen even after the infection is gone.A sebaceous cyst is usually painless but can become painful if infected..Boils are caused by infection of the hair follicle and treatment will includes antibiotics.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what eles beside a infection or cancer could cause a lump in your armpit? I had a sergeon tell me it was a tendon or a ligiment, But I know whatever it is, Its definitly pinching a nerve cause I have shooting pains in my shoulder I cant lift any thing heavy with that arm and some time it throbs with a weird kind of pain that I know is not a muscle. The other day at work my pinky and ring fingers went numb for a long time.
Hi Welcome to the MedHelp forum! A lump in armpit can be a swollen lymphnode, in response to fungal infection or sweat dermatitis or infection of hair follicles. It can also be folliculitis or a hair follicle infection. It can also be an enlarged lymphnode due to malignancy of breast (rare in males but not impossible). At times it is a cyst too. Consult your PCP for an evaluation. A CT scan can be confirmatory or a fine needle biopsy. Hope this helps.
