Is lumigan the same as latisse

Common Questions and Answers about Is lumigan the same as latisse

lumigan

Avatar m tn There is two different brands that say they have the same effect as Latisse but they cost much less than Latisse. They are Lumigan, and Bimatoprost. My question is do they actually have the same effect like Latisse? what is the diffrence??
Avatar m tn regarding Lumigan and others like it, have people experienced growth of eyebrows and hair elsewhere as well like scalp hair? or is there good understanding of the active ingredients, that they can also help brows and scalp hair too? I am not only thinning fair eyelashes, but also fair hair and eyebrows and in my 40s with only slight graying. so has lumigan been studied long enough to know if fair skinned/hair people get similar darkening and lenghtening benefits?
757137 tn?1347196453 It won't harm the eye or vision but side effects include redness and irritation on the eye and dark pigmentation around the edge of the lids. Plus the stuff is extremely expensive expect to pay about $120 per bottle. If you stop the meds they stop growning It works on most people, we've used it for years as lumigan for glaucoma. as with any medicine it doesn't work on everyone.
Avatar f tn org The glaucoma drops Xalatan, Lumigan and Travitan Z grown eyelashes in about 70% of the people that use them. The FDA has just approved a formulation of lumigan called Latisse for use to grow eyelashes.
Avatar n tn One of the drops in this family of glaucoma medicines (Lumigan) is sold in a different form (Latisse) by plastic surgeons and dermatologists for eye lash growth.
Avatar m tn its not an eyelash, its not from my eylid at all its from the pink fleshy area in the corner of my eye. Everyone i talk to about this says it is not possible but i know it is. what in world is this?
1775444 tn?1319258310 You need to see an ophthalmologist Eye MD to be sure you do not have eyelid problems (blepharitis, styes, chalazions, etc.) You need to be honest with yourself and ask if you pull or pluck your eyelashes; that is a disorder called trichotilomania. If the answer is you have none of these conditions there is a medication to make eyelashes grow full, thick and long.
Avatar n tn The only thing that may help is stopping the lumigan and eventually you may see some improvement. You can also get the same problem with travatan and xalatan. I suggest you look into SLT laser treatment as a way to reduce the pressure and maybe drop down to just one medication a day hopefully. Then you might be able to use alphagan or trusot/azopt or a beta blocker and avoid the darkening problem.
Avatar n tn It is not a sign of ocular rosacea, Latisse in its drop from is used to treat glaucoma. Itching and redness are its side effects. Dr. O.
Avatar f tn Thanks, Martika. However, it's now been about 2.5 months and I've seen only one single lash grow back (I bought a 10x magnification mirror and study the area a lot). Another derm I visited prescribed me FML ointment to use on the area 2x daily, in addition to the Latisse I've been using. She said that the small clump is so much more noticeable because the rest of my lashes are so long, dark, and lush.
12845664 tn?1427483649 I'm hoping to get some more follow up from the OP. I hope Woodvillewomble will just send another update after 2 years. I'm just wondering, I have the same implants, but when I look to rooftops (black rooftops) with a sky background, I see the white reflected on the top of the roofs, so the black doesn't look black but white/black, at least at the edges. These double vision becomes more noticable for rooftops far away.
Avatar f tn I think Latisse is for eyelashes - did you mean eyelashes? Otherwise, I too have lost the outer edges of my eyebrows and doubt I'll ever see them again. However, Mary Shomon said that evening primrose oil and other supplements helped her to thicken her hair.
Avatar m tn Also beta blocker eye drops are not as strong, or as long lasting as lumigan and beta blockers do not work at night whereas lumigan does. If you had side effects on BB before you likely would again. So if lumigan once/day is working well why try something new that likely will not work as well.
Avatar n tn Many generics are not nearly as good as the brand names. For instance brominidine is not nearly as good as the glaucoma drop Alphagan-P but there are many that work as good as brand names. latanoprost is one of them. There are over 20 companies that make latanoprost. Studys have shown that some are underfilled and some produce drops that are so large that the bottle will not last the expected 6 weeks.
Avatar f tn The makers of Lumigan recently started to market the very same drops under the name Latisse for eyelash growth. I understand that they also looked into using it as a treatment for baldness but its too expensive to cover a large area like the scalp. I am very disappointed at postings that indicate people feel their surgeons are pressuring them to upgrade to a multifocal IOL.
Avatar f tn I see no relation to the Latisse, other than being a middle aged female, who is on the computer a lot, you fit the profile for the symptoms you are reporting.
Avatar n tn Alphagan is less expensive than Alphagan P. The difference is the preservative that is less irritating to some people with the "P" type. The IOP lowering capacity is the same. Xalatan (latanoprost) is often NOT used after intraocular surgery as it may increase inflammation and swelling in the macula. Home tonometry doesn't work for most people (scratched corneas, inaccurate readings, excess anxiety) discuss with the glaucoma specialist.
Avatar m tn t think that the active ingredients cause the problem, but what about the Benzalkonium Chloride (BAK) that is the preservative in the drops, could that cause the problem? has there been any research done on this?
Avatar m tn (I really need to re-quiz her on that) It is a shame, as it dramatically lowered my IOP - better than the Lumigan and Azopt I am on as well. I see from a more extensive web search that it is used very successfully after LASIK. as you mention, to improve halos and other aberrations in night driving, as it minimizes pupil dilation. Unfortunately for me, that same effect was not helpful, as I already have problems seeing in lower light, and the smaller pupil response wasn't a plus.
Avatar n tn While I think I can provide some useful advice, there is obviously no cure for your problem and no easy answers. First the use of Lumigan. I really dislike Lumigan and try and never use it in my practice. It is notorious for causing red, irritated, inflammed eyes, permanent dark circles around the eyes and atrophy of the fat in the sockets causing sunk in looking eyes and droopy eye lids.
Avatar n tn I have pseudo-exfoliation in left eye. Started out on xalatan, then switched over to Lumigan when I was Glaucoma Suspect with ocular pressure 21-30. Under control low 20's on Lumigan, optic nerve healthy, no visual fields defects on test 5 months ago. However, last visit hemorrhage on optic nerve found and added Alpgagan P to Lumigan, did not do a thing after 6 weeks, pressure 24 today. Dr.
Avatar n tn Dear emsed, Other conditions may cause eyelash loss. I would seek care of eyeMD and dermatologist to determine a diagnosis. Dr. Feldman Sandy T. Feldman, M.D., M.S.
Avatar f tn I took lots of Meclizine in the past for motion sickness and insomia and I also used Latisse for the eyelash growth. Last use on Meclizine is about 4 weeks ago. Last use on Latisse is a few months ago. Can these two cause this kind of dryness on my eyes? 3 dizziness attacks I had one time started with a glaze on the sun when I stepped out of a room. The last two happened when I diced onion and the onion made me cry. Is the dry eye causing my dizziness and what can I do? Thank you.
Avatar f tn My husband was diagnosed with glaucoma - don't know which 'type'...he's 75...as of tonite he's going to be using Lumigan, 1 drop nightly and tomorrow the ophalmologist will run required tests. We've known this physician for years and have complete trust in him.
Avatar f tn Is that still true?
