Gave me symptoms. I am now on letrozole. Also experiencing symptoms. Will letrozole keep this cancer away. Is there a smaller does than 2.5 of letrozole that I can take.

Hi! Doctors will prescribe either clomid or letrozole to assist with ovulation. There's two main differences: it doesn't have anti-estrogenic side effects like clomid; and although studies have proven letrozole is an effective fertility drug it hasn't been approved by the FDA yet for fertility use, thus isn't covered by insurance (beware it's very expensive). Letrozole was developed to treat estrogen-sensitive breast cancers.

This must be sooo frusterating for you! You have all of this ideas and suggestions for med to try, and yet your doctor nor your country will let you try them. I wish I knew of a way you could get treated over the phone with a doc in the US. Man, what a pain for you! I pray that there is an answer someone can give you to help you get the meds that could/would help.

m sure your day is coming soon! =) It does make more sense to take Letrozole over Clomid, I just pray it works because I'm turning 36 this month and really don't want to wait much longer. I know this day and age women are having children at all ages, I personally just do not want to wait too long. Thank you for giving me hope.

I've also been on it, but this is my first month. I am having the same exact side effects and now am having cramping in my lower abdomen and nausea. Did your side effects continue every month, or lighten up with each cycle?

I did letrozole(femara) with injectibles and timed intercourse. It worked first try and my baby is now a little over 10 months. I didn't have any side effects from it(except pregnancy lol).

But i have stopped bleeding on 22/08/16(is it normal?).On top of that my doctor has advised me to take letrozole from 2 to 6 days during my period.My question is that,should i continue taking letrozole even if i do not bleed?

I finally broke down after 26 mo of TTC, 8 clomid cycles, 2 IUIs and trigger shots and went to the RE for advice. After AF shows in 2 weeks or so - we will start on letrozole with CD3 blood work and U/S and then do another IUI. If that is unsuccessful - we will do IVF. Has anyone done letrozole vs clomid? side affects? BFPs?

Hi! Yes, letrozole is the same as femara, and it does work alone. I used it alone for three cycles, and I had two mature follicles each time. As for moving straight to IVF after femara, I'm not sure why he wouldn't suggest injectable/IUI first...but you could always bring that back up if you don't get pregnant over the next three/four cycles. If so, you might not have the same issue this month, since clomid is know for thinning the lining in some women, while Letrozole/Femara does not. If the 2 mm lining was this month, on the other hand, I would question your doctor about this and maybe ask for an estrogen supplement next cycle (I think it's too late this month). My fertility doctor put me on 2.5 letrozole days 3-7. Has anyone got pregnant with this medicine? How long did it take?

Have asked before but want to hear of any positive stories using letrozole(femara) to help with ovulation, this drug is primarily a drug used to help with breast cancer and is still in research stage for fertility problems, my dr is talking with other gp's because is not happy to prescribe it to me.

It is difficult to say whether or not this is a new pregnancy, but I rather suspect that it is! The way to find out is to have quantitative beta HCG levels done 48 hours apart and compare the two. If it is a new pregnancy, the level should approximately double. If it is left over from the previous pregnancy the level will probably fall. If you are pregnant again, there is no need to worry about anything other than the usual worries.

My period started Thursday 7/23 and I took Letrozole days 3-7. I have now finished Letrozole and am still bleeding on day 8 and I have a baseline ultrasound on Monday 8/3 to check my follicles to see if I am good to take ovidrel. So my questing is, is it pointless to go to the appointment if I'm still bleeding. Is this cycle going to be pointless???

I've been on Femara (Letrozole) for about a year and a half. It didn't do anything for me...I never even had a period without forcing it. I recently had ovarian drilling and I know it has made a difference. After the drilling, the femara is supposed to be more effective so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

i have pcos and have tried clomide before, of which i did not ovulate on it. i have been on letrozole for the last 4months and have just gone to 5mg day 2-6. i have taken letrozole to concieve. On day 14 i had a scan that showed two follicles size16 and 11. could not have a followup scan so had progestrone level checked on D28.(irregular periods) and it was 34.

What is a good way to thicken the uterine lining. My lining my last two cycles have been 7mm then 5mm. I was on clomid both times, and my RE has switched me to Letrozole. I'm going on vacation this month so won't start a cycle till October. I heard baby aspirin will help, but not sure if this is safe.
