Avatar m tn No one is able to give a clear cut picture. My friend is absolutely healthy barring her Hb level which is 2 units below normal. She is non-diabetic and no other complications that are generally associated with patients of her age. Please help, so as to help my friend take a positive decision to further course of action. In case Surgery is not required then what should she be prescribed with? What precautions she needs to take for general well being.

Avatar f tn I'm 27 years old and have had two episodes of appendicitis like pain in the past six months. My ultrasound a few weeks ago showed 3 complex cysts on my right ovary. The total size of the ovary and cysts was 8x8x5. The largest cyst was 5cm and all showed some solid mass. There was also a small cyst on the left ovary showing solid mass as well. My ca-125 level was tested and was high at 852.
Avatar n tn Since I have no family history of cancer and no other risk factors, is such radical surgery really necessary? Are there other options? Should I get a second opinion?
Avatar n tn t know what I should do. On the one hand I do not want surgery if it is not necessary, but on the other hand the medication is worsening the situation. What would you suggest I do?
452066 tn?1400626877 number of months of another surgery? Being this physically restricted is causing weight gain which is just making the knee even worse.
5987839 tn?1381922502 Hi there, a torn meniscus is one of the more common sports injuries over here in OZ, when surgery is necessary they typically do it keyhole which helps minimise recovery time, and developing early degenerative issues. They get you up and moving almost straight away now, with rehabilitation focusing on early mobilisation of the knee joint, building up quadriceps and hamstring strength.....
Avatar n tn The problem with knee surgery is the fact that most surgeons don't want to perform the surgery on someone young, they believe it could hinder the recovery process and may actually cause more reconstructive surgeries in the future. It's also a matter of if the insurance will approve the surgery or if you would have to pay for a large portion of it out of pocket.
Avatar n tn Have been researching things about positions I have to be in. Almost impossible seeing I just had knee surgery, which I have trouble bending, restless leg syndrom which drives me nuts, can't lay on my stomach due to a bad veterbrae and constant back pain, fybromyalgia, neck and shoulder pains from surgery to both, also it's the second surgery to the same knee within an 8 month period which both were for total peplacement. First one was unsucessful.
Avatar f tn s been 10 weeks post op, and I was doing good until about a week ago, just woke up and had awful stabbing pains all over my knee, shooting pain, then I could hardly bend and go up and down stairs, getting worse as of today, I have been wearing an unloader brace for two weeks, one nurse suggested I go get checked for blood clot at the hospital , is that necessary, the pain is also a tight feeling
Avatar m tn Hi, Knee fusion surgery is a last resort for any knee related problem. It is a salvage procedure rather a management of knee arthritis. I am sorry to say but if you would have gone ahead with knee fusion then, doctors would not have been able to do ligament reconstruction or knee replacement surgery. The anatomy of knee or knee joint configuration would have changed after the knee fusion surgery to do any sort of surgery after that.
Avatar m tn Conventional wisdom is that for an acute meniscal tear, in a young, active individual, the most reliable meathod of treatment is arthroscopic partial menisectomy. The large majority of meniscus tears do not have the potential for healing on their own, and physical therapy does not promote healing of the meniscus. I compare a torn meniscus to a pebble in your shoe. Until the pebble is removed, you are still going to have pain.
Avatar f tn Is it possible for strictures to heal?Is surgery always necessary?I would like to have as much info as possible before making a final decision. Thanks!
Avatar n tn My lump changes with my period and I had my yearly ultra-sound during my cycle--not thinking at the time, but it sent off alarm to the radiologist---you need surgery---my internist and surgeon--since its changed it will be terrible during preg. surgery is best.
Avatar n tn is saying. From what i gather and what im reading in the forum, surgery is possible. I meet w/ a neurosurgeon on monday, but im so anxious im just craving any knowledge possible. pit adenoma located ant. and to the Lft of mid. 9.4mm x 1.3cmx1.1cm. cystic change along ant margin. medially on lft adenoma extends partially into the cavernous sinus region, marginating the left cavernous carotid. the adenoma bulges tword the suprasellar region w/ no impression on optic chiasm.

Avatar f tn t think I can wait and see and hope that if it does get worse they will cover an operation several years later. Wondering if surgery really is necessary, not sure if it is in the red-red zone or red-white zone. If I do surgery what is realistic for recovery time?
Avatar f tn Will the MRI definitively show that the new tumor is benign or malignant or is it a waste of time and money? If no definitive diagnosis, I would just rather have the tumor removed to be on the safe side (hoping this one is benign as well). Any feedback would be most appreciated.
Avatar f tn I know there is a lot of focus being put on breast cancer right now especially in that it is breast cancer awareness month but is it really necessary to terrify the patients and take expensive invasive measures for a 20% chance that it could be cancerous?
Avatar f tn I am so sorry you need another surgery but yes, if they did not get clear margins it is necessary. When you have cancer with a lumpectomy they try to remove all the cancerous tissue and some clean and clear tissue around it to make sure they got it all. That clean & clear tissue is called margin. You want this surgery to reduce your risk of recurrence.
