Avatar f tn The headaches were also on the left side due to pressure from the clogged nostril. He told me I had a deviated septum. I scheduled surgery that day because he said he could fix my problem and make it easier to breathe. Well he did make it easier to breathe out of the clogged side, but he moved the septum too far and now I cannot breathe out of what was my "good" side. My headaches are worse than they were before the surgery.
1329703 tn?1275158081 I have a deviated septum that was found when my allergy shots started working but I still couldn't breathe through my nose. I also have mild sinus issues with them clogging and a mild infection (normally my immune system gets it under control within a week or so). I have the surgery in a couple of weeks so I can't comment on the long term affects yet but I'm hopeful it will help!
Avatar f tn The only reasons to fix your deviated septum would be 1) you are finding it difficult to breathe through your nose 2) you have sleep apnea and fixing your septum may help with CPAP compliance 3) you are having severe, difficult to treat nosebleeds 4) you are looking for cosmetic rhinoplasty (of which a septoplasty may be a part). It is shameful if anyone is trying to frighten you into having this surgery.
538090 tn?1213808112 My question to you is, is it common for both nostrils to get congested at the same time because of deviated septum or my flu and bronchitis plays a role in it? I haven't been sleeping for over three weeks because of that and is developing anxiety and is afraid to go to bed. Since my surgery date is in September, I would like you to help me to regain my sanity and restore some sleep.
Avatar f tn He will get the splints out in a few more days. I hope something here will help you through a few miserable days. It will be worth it, though. My sister had this done years ago and said it changed her life. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn t want to have to keep getting surgery to correct my deviated septum. Is there any other options (besides nose sprays)?
Avatar f tn These can lead to a post nasal drip and lead to an irritation in the throat. It could be sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and facial pain or pressure. Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens. So, please discuss with your doctor and clear your doubts before you consent for surgery. Regards.
1452978 tn?1285110262 Has anyone had the sinus surgery and it helped the dizziness, off balance, and lightheaded feeling. I am have a deviated septum that is being correct. I am nervous I have never had surgery before but I am praying this takes care of the issues. Could someone please share their experiences with me, my surgery is Thursday. Thanks so much!
Avatar m tn re definitely on the right track, as this is a common problem. I also had a deviated septum, and had it repaired. Now I have way less problems with sinus infections. The bits of blood you see could be from your sinuses, due to the wrong airflow from your deviated septum. And also if you have lung issues you will have shortness of breath from all the excess mucous blocking your airways. It sounds like you're in good hands.
Avatar f tn m not sure what subs are buy i do have a cousin on mothers side who snorted so much cocaine it caused him to have i believe it was a deviated septum , i think all i remember was he WA in a lot of pain and hadno ewa of explaining the cause of damage to his parents , he did stop however and seems to be doing well now , im really sorry about your pain a nd
Avatar m tn it took me almost half of my life to determine the problem in my nose that had altered my life. I had my deviated septum fix but didnt fix it 100% as they informed me that it may take 2 operation to entirely fix it as it was completely deviated to the left and its all crooked up to the back of my nose. i still experience excessive sweating, sinusitis, tinutis but tonsilitis i havent experience it so far, and its been a year and 1/2 since my surgery.
4556201 tn?1356445652 You will get a better cosmetic result from a plastic surgeon, but maybe the ENT would cost less. Just have the bump fixed at the same time as the deviated septum is fixed. It is a common procedure.
Avatar n tn It is always difficult to assess the effects of surgery without more information, such as CT scans of the sinuses. It is unlikely that surgery will eliminate anxiety, palpitations and uncoordinated swallowing. If the sinuses are blocked by the swelling, the other symptoms may be relieved by appropriate surgery. If you have questions, it is better to have a second opinion form a second ENT surgeon.
Avatar f tn s of sinus infection. But it souns like the severe deviated septum is the cause of this, not primarily bacterial. Will this probably mean surgery? Websites make it sound simple, out-pt treatment. Would like to have the real scoop from real people who have had this done. I'm not looking to beautify my nose, just be able to breath thru it, not snore, and not constantly blowing it. I would appreciate any input. Thank you for your help.
Avatar n tn I know surgery is an option for the deviated septum. But will my nose ever not hurt again??? It also causes so much pressure in my ears that it has aggravated my TMJ. Sure wish I knew then what I know now...
Avatar m tn My dietary advice still stands, but there is nothing about the diet that can fix a deviated septum. If the deviated septum is preventing you from breathing properly during sleep, then I think you should do what you need to do to get it fixed. Then you can ALSO address systemic inflammation, if you are still having symptoms. Again, best of luck.
Avatar n tn wondering if anyone else has had similar issues and did it turn out to be the deviated septum and not a food or inhalant allergy?
Avatar m tn I'am planning to have sinus surgery (septopasty) to correct a deviated septum and deciding between surgeons. One of the surgeons attaches splints with breathing tubes to each side of the repaired septum, the other surgeon just stitches the 2 sides of the septum together in a procedure called "quilting".
Avatar m tn I have noticed that the sit of my nose where my deviated septum had been seems to still be significantly inflamed and that the generalized area around where the maxillary sinus would be hurts as well. Perhaps the most annoying, is the fact that my upper left molars kill. is this likely just residual inflammation from the surgery itself? i do know there was a good amount of infection in the left maxillary prior to my surgery, so wondering if this is just aggravated by the surgery.
Avatar f tn My husband had deviated septum surgery several years ago to help aleviate his severe headaches which are connected to his sinuses. It didn't help AT ALL. He still suffers terrible headaches and sinus pressure. We paid a lot of money only for him to be in a lot of pain for a few days and he also had a nasal hemmorage afterward which was pretty scary.
