Is climara bioidentical

Common Questions and Answers about Is climara bioidentical

activella

Avatar n tn s no way I will go off hormones (Vivelle patch, which is a bioidentical hormone) and testosterone. I am feaking out a little now because I just got a letter from our new insurance company saying they won't pay for Vivelle... they will only cover a generic form of Climara (also a bioidentical patch, but made from.... um... yams, I think, where as Vivelle is from soy... or is it the other way around?). I may just pay the extra to stay on Vivelle, I love it so much.
Avatar f tn loved the patch instead. There is a difference between a synthetic hormone like Premarin and a bioidentical estrogen. And, you need testosterone (no progesterone). Sorry... gotta go. Can check in later. You can feel better... I am soooo sorry you are suffering so much.
709441 tn?1233340088 I use Vivelle Estradiol... climara is good, too. Newer research indicates that Estradiol (the kind of estrogen we had pumping through us in our 20's) is the only way to go. The book I mentioned a thousand times has been the most helpful to me. "Screaming to be Heard" by Dr. Elizabeth Lee Vliet is an amazing (and huge) book. Don't let it overwhelm you. You have to do the reseach on this stuff or it will get the better of you.
1168718 tn?1464983535 the Climara is just estrogen because we have nothing left anymore due to my surgery in April, so they say it is a small dose and will help with the hot flashes etc. I still have not applied any.... waiting to completely think this one through, thought I had, but keep reading, and it scares me somewhat....
Avatar f tn And, I cannot recall how bioidentically friendly this packaged hormone is. Remember, if you are on either Vivelle estradiol or Climara, you are on a bioidentical. It does not have to come in a cream form to be bioidentical. And frankly, the patches work so well ... the cream is fine, but if you are working with someone who likes to mix estradiol with estriol, that should be a big discussion. Estradiol is now the preferred estrogen. Much of the hoopla around Estriol years ago has died down.
Avatar f tn Vivelle is a bioidentical and I am assuming you are on that or you are on Climara, which is similar to Vivelle in that it is Estradiol only and yet Climara patch lasts a bit longer and so you don't have to change it as often. In my case, my estrogen levels have not been high enough over the past few years, compounded with too much Progesterone. More on that in a minute. I should not have been using it at all.
Avatar n tn I would encourage you to look into the bioidentical hormones (again, unless Contraception is an issue here... but there are other pills out there that have more estradiol in them that may be more helpful... check that out, too)... but I am wondering if a little progesterone cream balanced with estradiol is what you need. Do a check on that, too, if that would be something you are interested in.
Avatar m tn If you have been reading up on the side effects of hormone therapy, you will have found out what there is to know about hormones (and much of it is conflicting, and it seems to depend on when you begin taking them in relation to menopoause). Anyway, Climara Pro is probably no different than any other hormone brand. Did your doctor suggest taking a baby aspirin a day? Also, drink water.
Avatar f tn I am not familiar with Femtrace... you can google to see if it is a Bioidentical or not... and see if it is Estradiol. Personally, for me that is the ONLY way to go from now on. I think that Estratest is made with a bio estradiol but because it is mixed with Testosterone, it is hard to regulate the dosage and you might not be getting enough Estrogen and too much testosterone. I am on testosterone and Vivelle.
Avatar f tn (Vivelle or Climara patch are both bioidentical estradiol) is used, even though these hormones are made from soy or yams in a lab, the end result is something that the body sees as 'normal' to what you used to make in spades... thus keeping your levels of estrogen (since Premarin is estrogen only... Prempro is estrogen and progestin) stable during menopause. It is the fluctuations in hormones that can cause hot flashes, etc.
Avatar f tn Mayfly, It is so hard to say if the patch of Vivelle caused the weight gain. This is such a complicated subject. I am wondering if your body was making Estrogen in the form of Estrone (which is the 'menopause' estrogen that is made as a by-product from the fat in our system... and this fat is what causes the fat around our middle section so that it is readily available for use by the body since women's bodies crave estrogen)...
Avatar f tn Is there a list of physicians who utilize bioidentical hormone therapy in their practice in the Reno area?
Avatar m tn Some women may benefit from nonstandard doses and forms of hormones in bioidentical hormone preparations, but there is almost no scientific support for an advantage of these compounds over common commercially produced preparations.
Avatar n tn More and more physicians who know anything at all about HRT or BHRT (Bioidentical HRT) do not recommend the type of estrogen that is in Birth Control pills for menopausal use. The difference between a bioidentical estrogen patch such as Climara or Vivelle (one made from soy and one from yams but bioidentical in the body to what we once made naturally) is so huge that they should not even be in the same classification.
Avatar f tn What is the difference? Itake bioidentical patch, lowest dose. I'm confused how that differs from HRT??
Avatar f tn t take the sublingual, bioidentical progesterone he prescribed nor should I continue to eat protein bars and other sources of soy protein which provide a natural bioidentical estrogen. She said there is an increased cancer risk associated with both progesterone and estrogen supplementation. Since I have high risk HPV (cancer causing) I should not take these supplements. Does anybody know anything about the increased cancer risk associated with bioidentical hormone enhancement???
Avatar m tn My girlfriend is 42. She had a full hysterectomy including removal of her ovaries. What is the best hormone replacement therapy and what hormones are necessary? How can she stay healthy, not gain weight and still be interested in sex? Any other advice about this whole situation would be helpful and appreciated.
Avatar n tn I am scared my sexual desire is leaving me which I don't know if it is stress related or what. My last period was last month and very light and this month I have not received one. Other fear is my husband which is younger then me has diabetes and thinks I don't lust after him anymore. What is going to happen to my sexual desires??
1103360 tn?1258309599 Find a bioidentical hormone dr or antiaging dr who can give you "natural" bioidentical hormones so your body will accept them. Just google and you will find a lot in your town. Synthetic hormones are not always good for you as your body has told you already!!
Avatar f tn I have a ton of info on the bioidentical hormones (I just did a check on Enjuvia and from what I can tell, it is a conjugated synthetic estrogen in a pill form). I also have some more recent posts on the weight gain issue, which I have done a ton of research on myself. I am not almost 9 years post surgical menopause (ovaries removed along with everything else).
Avatar f tn You should not just stop taking your thyroid meds. There are no supplements or minerals or foods that will substitute. The result was predictable-- a high TSH and a FT3 and FT4 just within the low limit of the "normal" ranges. All three of these test results are indicators of being hypo. You need to get back on your thyroid meds and keep adjusting your FT3 and FT4 levels until symptoms are relieved.
Avatar n tn Hi Vicki, I just have a second (off to work and no computer at work) but I wanted to say that I did a quick search and found that the patch you are on is in fact a bioidentical estradiol, which, in my opinion, is the only way to go...
Avatar f tn Would it help to overlap the tone I put one on and take the old one off. Clearly the rise and fall of estrogen is the trigger. What’s the best solution? I’ve considered just stopping then completely but my dr thinks I’m too young... Any helpful suggestions would be so appreciated! Thanks!
