Avatar n tn Sorry to hear about your situation. Cipralex (Lexapro) is an SSRI and SSRI's take weeks in your system before they start producing any therapeutic effect. In fact they can make your anxiety worse in the beginning as you ramp up on them. It took me 4 weeks on Cipralex before I started feeling like things. So if you're only on it 2 weeks maybe give it a bit more time.
Avatar n tn My doc said he wants to try this medication out for a month and see if it helps, if it does continue for another 7-8 months. Can anybody give me advice? is this medication any good? what to expect? do these symptoms clearly suggest Depression? I thought I had a underactive thyroid since it runs in the family. I also got blood work done last november that said my thyroid was indeed underactive but my doc issued another blood test 2 weeks ago (Mid march) and it now says my thyroid is fine.
Avatar f tn It sounds to me as if you are just hoping for a simple answer, but you don't have a clear diagnosis and therefore it would be premature to look for a medication. One way to sort this out is to go off of all medications and see what happens , and then make a clear diagnosis before you start treatment...ask your doctor about that approach.
Avatar n tn Cipralax is the same as Lexapro. Actually it is one of the more effective SSRI medications on the market today. I know a ton of people having good results with Lexapro, including myself. It's not hard to find plenty of negitive things written regarding Antidepressant medications. Studies show that 50% of people that take them do not actually need them to function day to day.
Avatar n tn I am sure this is directly due to cipralex even though the side effect is not listed as a common side effect of taking cipralex.
Avatar n tn iv been on cipralex 5mg for 10 days now 10mg for 13 days i am feeling weak nautious burning sensation and pressure in the the head not feeling my self feeling deattattched from my body . it is unbear able some times a feeling of loosing control alot of tention grinding my teeth ringing in the ears and head my doc told me to up my dose to cipralex 20mg but i am afraid it will make it worse. and the side affects will be a big problem.
Avatar f tn Namaste, Cipralex is mainly used for treating depression. SSRIs work by preventing serotonin from being reabsorbed back into the nerve cells in the brain. This helps prolong the mood lightening effect of any released serotonin. In this way, Cipralex helps relieve depression, panic and fear. In clinical trials, cipralex has been found to be an effective SSRI in the treatment of depression and also in relieving some of the symptoms of fear and panic.
Avatar n tn When I stopped, I was fine for six months but my depression suddenly started again. I restarted taking cipralex 10 mg one each night and I improved quickly. Now it is four years that I am taking it. I now want to stop it because I am having very decreased sixual drive. So my question is that, Will my sexual drive improve when I stop taking cipralex?

Avatar f tn ve been on cipralex for 2 years, and the good thing abt it is it is not addictive. you can eventually come off the medication. but be sure not to stop it abruptly. need doctor s advice on how to come off it.
Avatar f tn What would be your suggestion for how to switch from the Paxil to cipralex? I know that 20mg Paxil equals about 10mg cipralex. What rate would you decrease + increase? Perhaps you could give me a rough outline of how to make the transition? Thanks so much!
Avatar n tn ive been put on cipralex 5mg by my doctor for anxiety. i started wit half tablet (2.5mg) for two weeks and started takin full tablet about a week ago. but for past two mornings hav been waking up with nausea and become very drowsy late afternoon. is it normal for side effects to manifest a full week after takin 5mg tablet?
574118 tn?1305135284 He said welbutrin is activating so he prefers cipralex in fact both of them do. Usually the min dose for depression is 10mg but they admit me on 5mg like before. The reason why i cut the cipralex before although i took it for 2 uninterrupted weeks and was more than OK is that 10 days ago i started to move around. So not knowing whether this is anxiety or ADHD or what, or starting on a manic episode so i stopped it.
Avatar m tn before 1 year and 3 month i felt dezzy so i went to the doctor ,he said everything is good . i went to another doctor he he told me to go to check my ears ,, resaults all fine , then he told me to kake mri and ct scan .. resaults all fine ,, so i start feeling short in breathing , and afraid to go anyplace alone and far of my home , i went to the other doctor he hold me that you have enxiety, panic attack , he gave me cipralex 10 mg 1 pill everyday .. and he gave me xanax .
1267205 tn?1321117128 s not specific to BP alone. Taking cipralex will do you good for a while but then it will drive you manic eventually. you said cipralex, is it the only drug you take or along with other meds ? because if you take mood stabilizers along with then perhaps it's safe. but i never heard someone with BP is prescribed an antidepressant only. cipralex is rather strong it's an SSRI.
Avatar f tn Thank u has anyone else been on or is on cipralex
Avatar f tn I've been on cipralex 20mg for about 1.5 yrs, before that was on 40mgs of celexa.. I'm 37, about 190lbs 5'7".. Anyway my question is, my dr prescribed me ability 2.5mgs that I'm scared to start because of all the scary side effects I've read :-(. I guess I should also let u no that I suffer from severe anxiety/ severe depression disorder.
574118 tn?1305135284 I really wish that you were able to find a good psychiatrist and I know how frustrating it is that this is not proving possible. I have heard that cipralex can cause increased anxiety, agitation etc and as Narnia has said it really isn't good to take this without a mood stabilizer - I know you currently take AP's to manage your moods.
Avatar f tn Hi again Christina, For me it was the right medication, but it took time before I knew it for sure. I tried Cipralex too but knew immediately that it was not going to help me at all. The prescription was half a tablet for a week, then increase. I never made it for more than 4 days on it because my reactions were worse than the benefit would ever be. The first two weeks might be all you need, but if it doesn't work, you might need to ask for something else.
Avatar f tn It's meant to be a better vision of escitalopram as I'm in the uk they don't do lexapro it's cipralex here I'm on day 5 and no better yet just want things to start working really iv been told up to 2 weeks but can be as soon as 6-8 days the only side effect is the insomnia and not being able to sleep that's why iv been given zopiclone for that but don't want to have to depend on it for a long time, iv been through all this before on many different anti depressants wit
Avatar m tn I took the paroxetine that did well for a while then the cipralex that does not do anything to me is so confused. After that I did insomnia, the doctor giving me the zolpidem which obviously and that made me sick I am very scared.
Avatar m tn I have had head aches on cipralex, and when I drink some or even more then some drinks I get almost sick with a head ache. 1) are head aches common in taking anxiety drugs, 2) any way preventing the head aches. 3) dry mouth is that common with these drugs.
553096 tn?1267348927 My doctor has recommended Cipralex (escitalopram) to combat side-effects. I am retreating and at Week 10 of 48 (Genotype 1). I do not have prior experience with this medicine. Has anyone had experience taking this medication. Was there improvement in taking this medication and any side-effects experienced. I look forward to hearing your experiences. Thanks.
3178266 tn?1344536316 t panic about this. Life is never perfect, birth is never perfect. Life is what it is. Just be informed and make your decisions in consultation with your psychiatrist and, if your doc seems clueless, find one who isn't. Also discuss it with your obstetrician. And congratulations.
Avatar n tn If either Celexa or Cipralex is cheaper you should consider them good alternatives.
Avatar m tn So I figured this is not the pur blocka, but the cipralex, I felt what the hell do I than need this tablets for if I only get added a disatvantage..
