Is budesonide the same as pulmicort

Common Questions and Answers about Is budesonide the same as pulmicort

symbicort

Avatar n tn As you know the clinical trials of Pulmicort Flexhaler® (budesonide inhalation powder) were performed on children age 6 and above. Since we know the medicine is safe for use in very young children from Pulmicort Respules™ (budesonide inhalation suspension) the most likely reason they chose 6 and above was because many children less than age 6 would not be able to use this delivery device effectively.
Avatar n tn The only problem is breathlessness arising from throat tightness. I never wheeze in the life. The throat tightness is getting reduced when i take Ventolin. The doctor say i don't have to take ventolin beacause Fomertrol+budesonide and Motelukast+LC. will prevent the difficulty. But only medicines which seems to be working is Ventolin and Motelukast+LC. When i tried stopping Motelukast+LC my throat tightness increased.
Avatar n tn The cough cleared up for the most part, as did the wheeze, but the meds had serious side effects – I stopped the Levaquin after 8 doses, because it was making me depressed and exhausted, which I still am. I am also still coughing a bit (producing a little mucus), and feel short of breath, but my lung function is at 92% and I have optimal peak flow (475). I’ve cut back my meds to 220mg flovent twice a day, and albuterol when necessary. 1.
Avatar n tn Cough, chest tightness and breathlessness the three symptoms are the triad of symptoms for Asthma. It is a disease affecting the lungs causing narrowing of the airways, usually due to an allergic reaction to triggering factors. Therapy is with bronchodilators which cause the airways to dilate. Your symptoms could also be due to COPD or Bronchitis. You will need to consult your doctor who may ask for blood test and an X ray. Lung function tests could further help in evaluation.
Avatar f tn Hello, My two cents: The child has had two severe attacks in the last month associated with illness. Cold and flu season is just starting. The chances of him contracting another cold or even the flu are high. Without the pulmicort his chances of being hospitalized by such an event are even higher. While pulmicort is a corticosteroid, it is inhaled and very little of the medicine gets into his system.
Avatar f tn s Colitis. As I had stopped prednisone to go onto budesonide, I had no protection in the colon, hence the flare. After leaving hospital (where I was on holiday in Florida) I saw my gastro in England and asked for methotrexate, oral at first 25 mg a week, now for the past 6-7 yrs weekly injections of 12.5mg. Doing very well, and although there can be serious side effects such as liver toxicity and disruption to the bone marrow, I am monitored monthly and have no problems.
Avatar f tn Allergies to medications should be limitated to certain drugs or ones that work very similarly. There should be other inhaled steroids (same use as budesonide) that you should be able to safely use. Another possibility is singulair if the asthma is allergy based. I would get a different doctor or request a referral to a respiralogist. Asthma is a combination of muscle spasms (the attacks) and chronic inflammation in the lungs.
Avatar f tn if you don't get relief from them tell your doctor there is different kinds of inhalers you could use. But remember these are long term medicines. You have copd which is not curable but treatable. I made the same mistake as you thinking that if they if I don't feel better right away why take these, now I'm in the severe catorgory which is not good. It may seem like a bother right now but so is carrying an oxygen tank.
Avatar n tn While I am VERY happy about his fantastic improvement, because I want him to be well and I want to protect his sweet little lungs, I am wondering if the dose that I am giving him is too much and is in the wrong form (flexhaler instead of the nebulizer type) based upon what I've read online. Do you have any thoughts about using a Pulmicort Flexhaler with a 4 1/2 year old and at the maximum dosing level? Thank you so much for your help!
Avatar f tn Hi Lysa - how kind of you to come onto the forum to share your knowledge. I appreciate your kind, caring words. I have had Vit B12 deficiency for over 25 yrs and have monthly B12 shots at my GP's office, and my level is fine now. I have been taking daily folic acid since being on mtx - 7 yrs now. Gastro amazed I have been able to tolerate mtx for so long without signs of liver toxicity, which is a common side effect. I had to get lucky sometime!
746512 tn?1388807580 Might look into other long-acting beta agonists. Serevent is the LABA that is in Advair (Formoterol is available as Foradil. Salmeterol is the LABA in Advair). It's basically Flovent and Serevent in one Discus or inhaler. Symbicort is another combination steroid/LABA (Pulmicort + Formoterol). I don't know if any combination of those options would be better from a price perspective. Haven't heard of muscle cramps or menstrual effects with Pulmicort.
Avatar f tn My 2 year old son acquired severe RSV at 6 weeks old. Ever since then he now has virally induced asthma. So he's been hospitalized a few times with bronchiolitis when he was 1 years old. The typical treatment has been 2ce a day pulmicort and 3xs a day to every 4 hours of albuterol. If that didn't work they would add predisone and sometimes zithromax. And those combos knocked it out. Well he now has 3 weeks of a rattling cough that just doesn't go away.
Avatar f tn Also, oxy is more soluble and I believe it is a first pass metabolite, meaning it crosses the blood brain barrier after one pass thru the liver, where hydro is metabolized twice by the liver before becoming active. Oxy is much more powerfull than hydro per milligram and has a meaner withdrawel too.
1569985 tn?1328247482 I have taken Phythmol for yrs and all I can say Is I didn't have to start it in a hospital and it is in the same class as Flecainide but i really don't think it is as strong a drug. It helped me stay out of arrhythmia but like all the rest, it eventually becomes pro-arrhythmic and will actually bring on episodes....it may be months...it may be years...but it will happen.
Avatar m tn My preventive asthma medication seems to cause nausea and general cloudiness when I take them. When I stop taking them, the dizziness stops so I know that it's the cause. I've tried a handful of different medicines like Flovent, Dulera, Qvar, Advair, Pulmicort and even Singulair and they all cause this nauseating effect. I'm wondering if any of you know what this might be and any way to stop it. Any different medicines, I'm even open to non-traditional medicine if it helps.
17080824 tn?1453552185 Then I felt like my body and mind is going to give up, I started seeing everything too bright. The blue water, the trees, the building nearby, everything too white and too bright. I can't see anybody swimming down there. I started thinking like this may be the end of everything. And It remained for 10 minutes and then it started getting back to the normal. Now I have no problem with my eyes and the leg; like nothing happened. But just curious what was the reason of such bright vision.
Avatar f tn my sister is in the same boat as you she has several severe allergies she even has to carry an epi pen some of the things she went through were trouble breathing, all kinds of stomach problems breaking out and a few other things as far as the shots she is suppose to take them but she does not because she is only ten years old and lives with our grandmother who will not let her get the shots but I am very sure that they would help as far as other ways to control them we just try to avoid what she
