Avatar n tn The cough cleared up for the most part, as did the wheeze, but the meds had serious side effects – I stopped the Levaquin after 8 doses, because it was making me depressed and exhausted, which I still am. I am also still coughing a bit (producing a little mucus), and feel short of breath, but my lung function is at 92% and I have optimal peak flow (475). I’ve cut back my meds to 220mg flovent twice a day, and albuterol when necessary. 1.
Avatar f tn My 3 year old daughter gets bad colds with coughing and slight weezing atleast 3 or 4 times out of the year. Her doctor has always perscribed albuterol and budesonide through a nebulizer. This time around when I took her he added Singulair and Prednisolone. He hasn't actually diagnosed her with asthma but her father and uncle both have it. Could she be getting it also and what kind of test should she get to see if she has asthma. Any suggestions would really help.
Avatar f tn I finally called my pharmacy to find out why I did not get my advair and it turned out that I could still get it and my price was the same as always with my medicare. After just one day I was immediately on the mend. I'm on day three and it's like night and day I am getting well. I am posting this as a warning to not allow your pharmacy to take it upon themselves to switch you. You must take your health into your own hands.
Avatar f tn From your note, the answer is “no”. The second question is does it affect his eating so that he is losing weight? It does not appear that this is the case since you are an excellent historian and did not mention this. The third question is does it affect his sleep? Again, you have not mentioned this. On the basis of those three answers, I would not be as worried as you probably are and continue to use the Flovent as you are doing and stay in close contact with the Pediatric Pulmonologist.
1431210 tn?1283264699 More info: I smoked regularly, a pack every five days or so, but I quit as soon as the cough wouldn't go away, that was before the shortness of breath or the weakness. My chest feels tight and big, and my neck muscles are a little sore.
Avatar m tn I took Primatene mist for asthma 2 months back but my doctor asked me to stop using it and prescribed PREDNISONE, ALBUTEROL inhaler and BUDESONIDE and I have been taking these for past two months. My tests came negative. My question are 1) Is test conclusive? 2) Does medications mentioned above cause false negative? 3) It was 8 panel test which includes Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HSV 1, HSV 2, HIV and syphilis. All except HSV 1 came negative.
Avatar n tn The only problem is breathlessness arising from throat tightness. I never wheeze in the life. The throat tightness is getting reduced when i take Ventolin. The doctor say i don't have to take ventolin beacause Fomertrol+budesonide and Motelukast+LC. will prevent the difficulty. But only medicines which seems to be working is Ventolin and Motelukast+LC. When i tried stopping Motelukast+LC my throat tightness increased.
Avatar f tn All of them Xopenex is the only one that does not go by albuterol. No generics because of the cfc ban. We do have generic albuterol neb solution. The Xopenex doesn't cause the shakiness that the other versions do and can be more effective. I wonder if that is what part of my problem has been? hmmmmm... I am going to ask for a sample of Xopenex to try for odor exposures again.
Avatar f tn s Colitis. As I had stopped prednisone to go onto budesonide, I had no protection in the colon, hence the flare. After leaving hospital (where I was on holiday in Florida) I saw my gastro in England and asked for methotrexate, oral at first 25 mg a week, now for the past 6-7 yrs weekly injections of 12.5mg. Doing very well, and although there can be serious side effects such as liver toxicity and disruption to the bone marrow, I am monitored monthly and have no problems.

Avatar f tn Allergies to medications should be limitated to certain drugs or ones that work very similarly. There should be other inhaled steroids (same use as budesonide) that you should be able to safely use. Another possibility is singulair if the asthma is allergy based. I would get a different doctor or request a referral to a respiralogist. Asthma is a combination of muscle spasms (the attacks) and chronic inflammation in the lungs.
Avatar f tn The albuterol can be taken 10-15 minutes before you start exercising. I have the same problem, and this is what I was told to do. Apparently for exercise this is not considered a problem. It is only a problem when you require your albuterol more then a couple times a week for asthma attacks due to allergies/irritants. This is then considered a lack of control of your asthma and your medications should be reviewed.
Avatar f tn if you don't get relief from them tell your doctor there is different kinds of inhalers you could use. But remember these are long term medicines. You have copd which is not curable but treatable. I made the same mistake as you thinking that if they if I don't feel better right away why take these, now I'm in the severe catorgory which is not good. It may seem like a bother right now but so is carrying an oxygen tank.
Avatar n tn There is a small area in Texas that is supposed to be the best as far as researching allergy/asthma. You would have to Google it, as I forgot the name.
Avatar n tn My son is taking albuterol through the nebulizer. He is having nose bleeds Is this common?
Avatar f tn Hi Lysa - how kind of you to come onto the forum to share your knowledge. I appreciate your kind, caring words. I have had Vit B12 deficiency for over 25 yrs and have monthly B12 shots at my GP's office, and my level is fine now. I have been taking daily folic acid since being on mtx - 7 yrs now. Gastro amazed I have been able to tolerate mtx for so long without signs of liver toxicity, which is a common side effect. I had to get lucky sometime!
Avatar n tn but what i am wondering, like for people who are allergic to alot of things. Is the flovent the same type of medicine lije as the albuterol inhailor. I can use the albuterol inhaler but i am not sure if i can use the flovent or not. Can someone give me this answer please? i have looked and looked for this type of answer but cant seem to find it any where. I would appreciate if someone could help me out please.
1754037 tn?1327886811 So far ultrasounds say my little man is still healthy. I was never advised by my ob/gyn to not take the albuterol. In my opinion even if there is a risk using albuterol it wouldn't be a big one or OB's would not allow so many pregnant women to use them. Also the risk of not using it could be so much worse. It is important that you are able to breathe so your baby develops properly. You should ask your Ob about the steriod for sure. hope this helped.
Avatar n tn According to the Combivent website, the only difference between Combivent MDI and COMBIVENT RESPIMAT is the delivery system.
Avatar f tn Also, oxy is more soluble and I believe it is a first pass metabolite, meaning it crosses the blood brain barrier after one pass thru the liver, where hydro is metabolized twice by the liver before becoming active. Oxy is much more powerfull than hydro per milligram and has a meaner withdrawel too.
