2053416 tn?1330411192 Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.
Avatar m tn org/wiki/Thiazolidinedione this drug is same family as Rosiglitazone (Avandia) which has been foud active on hbsag and hbvdna, question is does TZD lower hbsag since decrease of hbsag inibits cancer growth too and if lowered to und eradicate hbv?
Avatar n tn Metformin is in general, a good medication. There are others in the class such as Avandia. You can talk to your doctor about this. You might try drinking more water, eating more fiber (vegetables, whole grains), taking psyllium seed fiber and walking regularly. Each of those can help. Of course, there is always the laxative option but it's best to try the others first. Take it with meals, this helps. Onglyza is another alternative medication idea.
Avatar n tn s findings that Avandia may increase the chance of heart attack by almost 50 percent. The troubling part about the government's sudden change of opinion regarding Avandia is that it comes several years after researchers had warned about the problems associated with using the drug.
Avatar f tn I know when I was on clomid I was told not to take EPO and the same for the FertilaidCM which I really felt I needed as clomid took all my EWCM away.
Avatar m tn This came one year after public charges of cardiac and liver safety were leveled against GlaxoSmithKline regarding the drug. GSK continues to maintain that Avandia is no less a threat to the liver than its competitors.
1236243 tn?1277680851 ve been on Actos for 9 years and have no problems. Avandia is effectively off the market but ACTOS was not removed. The diabetic educator should know better that suggest someone get off a drug. Suggesting that he/she contact their M.D. was a good idea, but not necessarily required, unless the 'one man in the class' is having noticable adverse side-effects. Rumor monger statements and posts like this one are more scary than it actually should be.
Avatar n tn Also go on the websites of the manufactures, sometimes they have coupons for a % off your bill. When I joint the avandia program I got a couple months free avandia, plus they send coupons at times. Also ask your md for samples. I use to work at a doctors office and we got enough samples to open a pharmacy. Another thing, if your job offers a flexible spending account, I find that is nice as well. it reduces your taxes and you can contribute up to 3000 a year to them. good luck.
Avatar f tn Also, oxy is more soluble and I believe it is a first pass metabolite, meaning it crosses the blood brain barrier after one pass thru the liver, where hydro is metabolized twice by the liver before becoming active. Oxy is much more powerfull than hydro per milligram and has a meaner withdrawel too.
1569985 tn?1328247482 I have taken Phythmol for yrs and all I can say Is I didn't have to start it in a hospital and it is in the same class as Flecainide but i really don't think it is as strong a drug. It helped me stay out of arrhythmia but like all the rest, it eventually becomes pro-arrhythmic and will actually bring on episodes....it may be months...it may be years...but it will happen.
Avatar m tn Seeing doctors at the same hospital where the accident occurred is not a good idea. Not saying its totally wrong but they ALL work for the same employer, the hospital. And there is a "good ole boy" network where one person backs the other person and no one does anything. On top of that to treat you only with Advair samples, cort spray, and prilosec is a red flag that these doctors have ZERO knowledge on how to resolve your medical crisis.
Avatar m tn I have diabetes ll. My doctor has given me Actos 30 mg. I have been hearing a lot about this drug and none of it's good, saying long term use causes bladder cancer. My last A1c was 6.1 although now due for another one. I'm not sure the risk involved with this drug is worth the benefits as my sugar is not out of control and my numbers are always under 175. Is Actos a safe drug to use??
Avatar f tn Also, are the Kidneys affected by Diabetes ? I recently had my Urine checked because of burning as I have been subject to bladder infections for years. It was ok. I have Fibro so hard to tell whats causing aching but have been having this burning and aching on both sides of waist but onlyduring the night, also frequent urinating 3-4 x a night but not every night, My readings are usually under 100 and last two averages were 99 so don't think it's out of control.
Avatar m tn I use Actos, but for some reason my fingers typed Avandia. Our FDA went through the same review on Avandia recently, and reluctantly left it on the shelf; however, it is used only when patients are found refractory to other, similar drugs, I believe. FlGuy, although I was down to 185 pounds at one point during treatment, I’m currently the lankiest 6’ 0” 250 pounder you’ve ever seen :o). I’ve always led an active lifestyle, so I don’t fit the sedentary profile of typical DM II patients.
Avatar n tn We are both afraid he will get in trouble though since he is no longer prescribed that. Is it the same thing, other than the tylenol, or will it be found on a mouth swab? Thanks for any advice!
Avatar f tn It's not the same the clomid is to help you Ovulate and the progestrone suppliement are to keep you progestrone high enough to sustain an healthy pregnancy and baby asprin is a low dose asprin 81 Mg I took all three and still take the baby asprin......
Avatar f tn One last thing I wanted to mention was that swollen ankles seems to be a more common sx with recovering addicts, but your husband has other issues as well, any other reason could result in swollen ankles. Another thing is his age, he is the same age as I am.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if metformin was the same thing as glucophase? Or is it like clomid, a drug that helps produce babies. I have already taken glucophase and want to try clomid, hope someone knows, let me know.
Avatar f tn t care what my Doctor said or any other Doctor. Generic Effexor is not the same. I was switched to Generic and now I am having the same side effects as when I tried to go off Effexor. The Brain Shocks and Nausea are terrible.
603046 tn?1279159413 I have a prescription for the glucose monitoring device which I take periodically. My concern is that I was told that as a person ages, the probability of having diabetes also increases.
