Common Questions and Answers about Is altace safe

altace

Avatar f tn Why is my systolic blood pressure still high when I am taking Altace. My diastolic blood pressure is normal when I take Altace. Why the difference. Could I have angina since I have had pain in my chest around the heart area and in the middle of the chest. Also, could I have arterialschlorsis from the high systolic blood pressure? This discussion is related to high systolic normal diastolic blood pressure?.
Avatar m tn Never had a heart attack. The Cardio put me on Metoprolol ( 50mg); Altace 2.5 mg and baby aspirin in addition to Lipitor 20mg. Sep. 2009 he took me off the Metoprolol and increased the Altace to 10 mg. My Blood potassium level at the time was perfectly normal at 3.6; after the spike in the ace-inhibitor my potassium level has risen in two months to 5.6, which I believe is an unsafe level. My family doctor has now asked me to go back to the 2.5 mg dosage and get re-tested after two weeks.
Avatar n tn How much Tylenol were you taking? Were you abusing it?
Avatar f tn Have you checked in with your eye MD?
Avatar f tn Altace is an Ace Inhibitor. Toprol XL is a Beta-Blocker. If you have had your blood pressure taken soon after you have been rushing around and exercising, drinking a hot drink like coffee as well as talking whilst the blood pressure is being taken, then the blood pressure will be increased. As you have been exercising, make sure that you are drinking plenty of water so that you do not become dehydrated.
Avatar f tn You should be asking your doc and the person who is going to control the anesthesia those questions. This is not a questions the lay population can really answer. Your doc and the anesthesiologist will be able to answer it specifically.
15695260 tn?1549593113 Recently, new research suggests that it is true! Certain medications that have been prescribed to lower blood pressure can slow dementia in seniors. ACE inhibitors showed a somewhat slower decline in memory and other mental skills than patients not on the drugs for some patients.
Avatar m tn From this forum I have understood that there is possibility of LV reverse remodelling if pulse rate is kept low. Now I fear that if I reduce my coreg my pulse rate will increase. When I asked this question to my cardiologist he replied that if I cannot tolrate higher dose it is better to keep it low. Can someone tell me if it is necessary to maintain high dose of coreg even with the difficulties I mentioned above so as to get advantage of low pulse rate.
Avatar f tn So the only advice I can give is to get your Doctor to find a brand which hopefully suits you. Here in the UK, the most common used beta blocker is Bisoprolol. It is a powerful brand, but the dosage needs to be very low. I never had any problems with this med and believe me, I normally react to everything on the planet. I was started on 2.5mg and it was found this was a little bit too high, so it was reduced to 1.25mg.
Avatar m tn While I understand that this is probably a temporary side effect of the ablation and medication is this the case. I am taking Altace, Atenolol and Coumadin. Could this be Bradycardia?
Avatar m tn It has been working for me without questions. I am on Cholesterol meds and hypertension meds(Metoprolol, Altace and Norvasc) which I have been taking for the last two years. Recently I used some viagra two hours before an encounter with my date. I started drinking after the taking the Viagra. The viagra did not work....I took another one and waited awhile and it still didn't work...I took one more and waited a while with no results....
Avatar f tn If it is just plain water, there is no need to worry as the endoscopist can suck out whatever little amount of water is present in the stomach with the help of the endoscope during the procedure and view the inner side of the stomach properly.
Avatar m tn Sometimes the blockage causes the spasming, but usually not until the artery is about 70 percent blocked. In some people, the artery will spasm with a little blockage. Her symptoms was shaking in the back and severe chest pain and pressure.
Avatar m tn Had multiple stents (4) placed four (4) years ago, two in LAD with no side effects and good nuclear and stress test results over this period. Am currently taking Plavix/Aspirin/Coreg/Altace. Need arthroscopic repair on knee but concerned over cessating of Plavix. One cardiologist recommended ending Plavix entirely, second (same practice) would rather wait for a large study about to be completed. Suggestions?
Avatar n tn My penis has always been roughly 7 inches, it is now slightly over 3 inches and suddenly has a slight curve to the left. I have been divorced 3 years and went about a year without sex nor did I or do I masturbate any longer. I always had an active sex life, and now have a very good sex life again. What is going on, my penis has started this turtle type of thing where it retracts constantly into it self which is very uncomfortable.
Avatar n tn Does this fall within the McDonald criteria for diagnosis and that is why he is waiting??? Should I be concerned with this and pursue other Neuro?
Avatar n tn Even if you have no angina symptoms now, there is always a possibility that you will if that particular medication is stopped because as you know, they stop your heart from working as hard as usual.
Avatar m tn MY FAIGUE AND LIGHTHEADEDNESS IS OVERWHELMING...SOME DOCTORS ARE TELLING ME THE FAIGUE IS NOT ONLY A CARDIAC SYMPTOM (IE SOMETHING IS CAUSING MY RESTING FATIGUE)...

Avatar n tn What is a normal increase in ejection fraction with proper medical care? I had an ejection fraction that over the years has decreased to 20% and in the last six months it quickly returned to 60% indicated by measurements from both an echo and MUGA testing. The symptoms of CHF have not changed, so the blood flow per beat has not increased. Why has the EF increased so greatly and what would it indicate?
907729 tn?1244174363 Thanks for your post. You make a great point that losing weight is good for your health, from diabetes to heart disease to everything in between. It would be helpful to know what kind of heart surgery is being recommended, because sometimes there are procedures that are less invasive that could be considered, and could result in some improvement in how you feel. Weight loss surgery can be a great option for some people, but keep in mind that it often does come down to surgical risk.
1481244 tn?1288276412 I know everyone in this group is looking for a way to face congestive heart failure. I have it also & am on Altace Hct like a water pill & there are other heart issues. On top of that i must deal with pain from extensive spinal surgery. I wish there were a way to find peace so i can escape this quality of life. My Doctor is well aware of all i've been through. He works his way around the subject.
754107 tn?1233668478 Three weeks ago I had my second ablation surgury (last was 5 yrs ago); they had to ablate about 900 points/spots which seems to represent about 40% or more of my heart. A week after the surgury I was readmitted as I was in Afib for about 8 hours straight (I've gone for days before the surgury) with my heart rate running in the 150's - 200.
Avatar f tn If the scar is touched, it feels like there is a lighter under it, but left alone, it is barely a bump. It was a bit uncomfortable at first because he buried it deep, but it was for the long term look. He was planning on my using a pacermaker for 30-40 years. They make a pocket for it, after that, when it gets replaced ( about 1/ decade) they just trade it out of the same pocket. I was so desperate for the help, I wasn't nervous about getting the pacer in the least.
Avatar m tn I have a suspicion that this is due to the side effect of one or more of the above drugs. Is it true? Is it possible? What is the best course of remedy I should pursue?
