Is aciphex the same as nexium

Common Questions and Answers about Is aciphex the same as nexium

aciphex

Avatar f tn My dr suggests switching to Aciphex. Can you tell me if that is as good as Nexium? My insurance will cover it as they would not the Nexium.
Avatar n tn (1) Is the above true? (2) Are the side effects the same, and (3) What's the difference between the two. Thanks for your time.
Avatar m tn Also, I recently heard about Kapidex. Is this significantly better than the others out there (including the Nexium I am on) or should I stick with the Nexium?
Avatar n tn He said he thought it worked better than aciphex. Well about 8 weeks into the nexium I was getting great pains, I thought my desease was getting worse. I went back to the Dr. and asked to be put back on the aciphex. I beleive those pains were a side effect of the nexium.
Avatar n tn I get the same problem. Keep up with the nexium. Aciphex is the best though. If you can get it prescribed. I keep thinking i am having heart attacks. Docs are saying GERD and Anxiety issues. I constantly burp and pass gas for hours after meals. I am soo sick of feeling like this everyday. Do you have any other symptoms? Thanks and good luck!
Avatar n tn So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?). Any input will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Both said they did not believe there was a correlation to the hearburn and resection. The GI doctor put me on Aciphex for 6 days which did not work and put me on Nexium 40 mg twice daily yesterday which does not seem to be working either as I have to take rolaids about 5 hours after taking the Nexium. Can you tell me: 1. Have you ever heard of hearburn/GERD starting after a bowel resection 2.
Avatar n tn As far as my eyes are concerned, the only thing I have at the moment is dry eye. However, I get tics in both my upper and lower eyelids on both eyes which tend to come and go. Some days they are constant and then some days, nothing. Recently they have been pretty constant with the occasional movement of my upper lip. However, that has not occurred much. The tics are slight movements but can be repetitive at both eyes and may occur at the same time.
Avatar m tn Who has had an endoscophy prior, during or post treatment? What was the reason for the endoscophy -- normal pre-tx procedure, suspected cirrhosis, GERD, etc. Also, for those that had the procedure, did anyone get a diagnosis of Barrett's Esophagus? If so, were PPI's (Nexium, Aciphex, etc) recommended? ---------- In my case I had an endoscophy during treatment for signficant GERD (chronic reflux). It showed a short form of Barrett's. Same with endoscophy post treatment..
711902 tn?1229431139 My dermatologist thinks that is is due to prolonged use of Nexium. So if I can no longer take Nexium for acid reflux what can I take? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Pylori bacteria was eradicated by antibiotics and Aciphex my stomach is now in a hyper acidic state and this is causing the water brash. Has anyone heard of this as a reason for water brash. I have read water brash is caused because of "minor" acid reflux. This means a small of acid backs up into the esophagus and the salivary glands as a defensive measure produces excess saliva and in some cases the sinuses produce mucos? Does this make any sense?
Avatar m tn Been on prilosec, nexium aciphex, etc., ever since. My GP ordered an upper GI. All normal except MASSIVE GERD. He doubled my nexium to 2 a day. Also had a chest xray which was normal. He ordered abdominal blood work - all normal (gall bladder, liver, pancreas, etc) Still couldn't shake the intermittent nausea....Had an endoscopy - showed gerd, slight irritation of esophagus, small hiatal hernia and stomach blisters and nodules which were removed and benign.
Avatar f tn I have also taken over the counter medication, and I have changed my diet numerous times. Yet I still have the same issues I have always had, but they are becoming worse with time. I have seen many doctors, and they still cannot figure out how to help me.
Avatar n tn As far as the burning when you stop taking the Aciphex (i was on that for awile too, but it never helped me) if you can stand to, try going off of it for awhile and stick to a alkaline diet. Your body might just be relying on it. Make sure to check with your doctor that it is safe for you to discuntinue use of the Aciphex before you go off of it though.
296025 tn?1233256719 Prevacid is a Protein Pump Inhibitor (PPI) like Aciphex, Nexium and Prilosec. It's indicated for GERD (chronic acid reflux) and as far as I know has nothing to do with treating Hep C, other than if you happen to have GERD. I believe Prilosec is a generic sold OTC but not 100% sure so speak to your doctor and pharmacist regarding switching off.
Avatar f tn I have tried everything to help prevent it as treat it even as far as drinking apple cider vinegar which was the only thing that actually worked. Tonight I woke up from a dead sleep choking I could not breath talk or anything just gasp for air. I ran to the bathroom and being 9 months pregnant was a task alone and had to give myself the hymlic to be able to breath again. Anyone having this problem?
Avatar f tn Why are you on both Nexium and Zantac though? Just wondering. I know the reglan is to promote the stomach emptying and the other two are for gerd & reflux/acid but two of them? Maybe instead of my aciphex bid you use 2 different ones instead..
Avatar n tn t afford AciPhex, the discomfort is constant, the pain occurs frequently enough that I have trouble falling asleep, etc. I just figure if there's a surgical procedure {maybe performed like an esophagogastroduodenoscopy PLUS}, THAT might be more sensible than the rest of my life on AciPhex or whatever the next new drug is .........................
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm living with GERD for more than 6 years. I've done Endoscopy but no serious problem found on my stomach. My Doctor prescribed me Nexium 40mg a day for 2 months. I felt happy because the GERD is gone even the Acids, I didn't feel at all. After few weeks after stopping taking Nexium, the GERD started again and sometimes, heartburn and acids are attacking me again. Now, my question is, Is it ok to become dependent on Nexium? Like everyday, I must take 1 capsule?
Avatar f tn My dad just recently died of unknown causes and my aunt is on a daily feeding IV. My brother has the same problems as myself but in a manageable condition. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Avatar n tn I have been on reflux meds for the past 5yrs and have had numerous side effects from hyperhydrosis, a tremor in my hand (which I was on propranolol for about 1yr 9mths for), and most recently a tic has developed in my eyelids. The hydrosis has finally went away (4.5yrs later) and the hand tremor is minimal but my eyelids are going nuts. I am assuming its the drugs for reflux (I am having surgery for that soon). Does anyone know of anything else that would be causing this?
Avatar n tn Prevacid, Nexium, Protonix, Aciphex, Zantac, and Pepcid are all used to treat reflux. You can ask you doctor who will know best which one is least likely to cause you dizzyness.
Avatar m tn I have tried a lot of medications (Pepicd, Zantac, Prilosec, Aciphex and now Nexium). None have really helped that much. I have been on Nexium for about 3 weeks and over the first week I started feeling better, but I guess I leveled off because I am at a point that is a little better than 3 weeks ago but still not very good. I have had pretty much every test, blood work, Upper GI, ultrasound and an endoscopy and they have found nothing. I have never been a big spicy or fatty food eater.
Avatar n tn Hi selmaS, I first started out with aciphex and then the doctor prescribed nexium. The nexium didnt work so I went back to the aciphex. I use to drink beer a lot and I started drinking a wine coolers and stopped eating certain foods. I did have my thyroid checked a few years ago but i think I need to again since mostly everyone in my family has it. I have to see the ENT in the morning and have a procedure done and I'll ask about that. What do you do for the nodules on ur thyroid?
Avatar m tn s very little chance of recieving a persciption for the better medications ( I feel that the Nexium worked better than Prilosec, and that Aciphex worked better than both). the greasy, acidic, and overall bad for you foods must be cut out. these foods with irritate existing conditions and/or create new ones if it's GERD or gastritis. good luck, and i hope everything gets better for you soon.
Avatar n tn On many occasions, the full feeling is too much to bear and I end up vomiting numerous times until my stomach is empty. Whether I vomit or not, my appetite is very low the next day. I have had two endoscopies and a stomach emptying study. The stomach emptying study came back regular, and the endoscopies always come back with eosinophilic esophagitis. The first diagnosis put me on Aciphex for almost 2 years. After, I was able to stop taking the medicine and had no issues for 3-4 years.
