Is aciphex better than nexium

Common Questions and Answers about Is aciphex better than nexium

aciphex

Avatar f tn ve tried Prilosec, Nexium and Aciphex, all for extensive periods of time. My # 1 all-time fave is Nexium, and Aciphex is also very effective. Prilosec doesn't seem to work as well. Just my experience.
Avatar m tn Also, I recently heard about Kapidex. Is this significantly better than the others out there (including the Nexium I am on) or should I stick with the Nexium?
Avatar n tn He said he thought it worked better than aciphex. Well about 8 weeks into the nexium I was getting great pains, I thought my desease was getting worse. I went back to the Dr. and asked to be put back on the aciphex. I beleive those pains were a side effect of the nexium.
Avatar n tn (1) Is the above true? (2) Are the side effects the same, and (3) What's the difference between the two. Thanks for your time.
Avatar n tn Personally, I like Nexium. I think it is a better drug. I have a drug plan and I have to take Prilosec. I can't even get the trade name, I have to take the generic. I took Nexium for a few years and I do think it worked better for me. I don't know about water brash, sorry.
Avatar m tn Been on prilosec, nexium aciphex, etc., ever since. My GP ordered an upper GI. All normal except MASSIVE GERD. He doubled my nexium to 2 a day. Also had a chest xray which was normal. He ordered abdominal blood work - all normal (gall bladder, liver, pancreas, etc) Still couldn't shake the intermittent nausea....Had an endoscopy - showed gerd, slight irritation of esophagus, small hiatal hernia and stomach blisters and nodules which were removed and benign.
Avatar n tn So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?). Any input will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I am very compliant in taking my meds and have followed my GI doctors instructions. He too stated one PPI might work better than another so he changed from Aciphex to Nexium. Since he started me on a new PPI will it take a few days for the new PPI to be effective? I thought if I was on one PPI and then changed to another there should be less time for the new PPI to be effective.
Avatar m tn I have been on Nexium for about 3 weeks and over the first week I started feeling better, but I guess I leveled off because I am at a point that is a little better than 3 weeks ago but still not very good. I have had pretty much every test, blood work, Upper GI, ultrasound and an endoscopy and they have found nothing. I have never been a big spicy or fatty food eater.
Avatar f tn I seen a nutritionist too. What is bad for gastroparesis is all fresh fruits and veggies and dont have anymore than 2 grams of fiber pet sitting. Go to mynurish.com and order and try green energy. It's a powder that gives you your fruits and veggies. Mix with juice. Bes flavor is apple-cherry vanilla. Don't use caraphate. Makes it wgastroparesis worse. Take liquid calcium/ magnesium. Liquid vitamin absorb 96% more than pill form vitamins.
Avatar m tn s very little chance of recieving a persciption for the better medications ( I feel that the Nexium worked better than Prilosec, and that Aciphex worked better than both). the greasy, acidic, and overall bad for you foods must be cut out. these foods with irritate existing conditions and/or create new ones if it's GERD or gastritis. good luck, and i hope everything gets better for you soon.
Avatar n tn Prevacid, Nexium, Protonix, Aciphex, Zantac, and Pepcid are all used to treat reflux. You can ask you doctor who will know best which one is least likely to cause you dizzyness.
296025 tn?1233256719 Prevacid is a Protein Pump Inhibitor (PPI) like Aciphex, Nexium and Prilosec. It's indicated for GERD (chronic acid reflux) and as far as I know has nothing to do with treating Hep C, other than if you happen to have GERD. I believe Prilosec is a generic sold OTC but not 100% sure so speak to your doctor and pharmacist regarding switching off.
711902 tn?1229431139 My dermatologist thinks that is is due to prolonged use of Nexium. So if I can no longer take Nexium for acid reflux what can I take? Thanks.
Avatar n tn I have actually been on some form of reflux med for a bit longer than 5yrs and started with Prilosec OTC, then prescription Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and briefly Prevacid. These days I tend to take whatever I have in my medicine cabinet (Aciphex or Prevacid) twice a day, max dosage, and occasionally a tagamet to help out. I have a hiatial hernia that is going to be fixed soon so I am hoping to get off the meds and that the side effects will eventually go away...I hope.
Avatar n tn i had hiatal hernia surgery 10 years ago, it worked great , and 1 year ago my symptoms returned hard, look for alkaline diets on google, give it a try for a week eating 70% alkaline foods and 30% acid, i was suffering for extreme acid reflux, i changed my diet and stop using 40 gram nexium , i am out of nexium now and feel better than ever, no bloating, no reflux and my throat feels like singing!!! i hope it works for you! god bless!
Avatar f tn s (proton pump inhibitors) are a group of medications used to treat GERD like Prilosec, Prevacid, Protonix, Aciphex, Nexium, and Dexilant.
Avatar n tn Since then I am taking Acid suppressants such as Nexium and Aciphex as prescribed by my doctor. I also underwent Endoscopy and Biopsy, Abdominal Ultrasound, X-Ray and Blood test . All the tests came normal except they found H-Pilory infection and I took antibiotics and subsequent Stool test for H-Pilory showed negative. I am still having all the above discomforts which is going on for 5 months. I normally eat very healthy and I am following a strict diet since this problem started.
Avatar m tn Who has had an endoscophy prior, during or post treatment? What was the reason for the endoscophy -- normal pre-tx procedure, suspected cirrhosis, GERD, etc. Also, for those that had the procedure, did anyone get a diagnosis of Barrett's Esophagus? If so, were PPI's (Nexium, Aciphex, etc) recommended? ---------- In my case I had an endoscophy during treatment for signficant GERD (chronic reflux). It showed a short form of Barrett's. Same with endoscophy post treatment..
Avatar m tn Now, my question is, Is it ok to become dependent on Nexium? Like everyday, I must take 1 capsule? Nexium healed me, but i have to take everyday, I don't know when to stop. Is there any side effects if everyday im taking it? I'd rather to become dependent than experiencing GERD for the rest of my life. Thanks.
Avatar n tn t noticed much with the mouth but i will now be paying close attention. I have taken Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and Prevacid up to twice a day at the max dosage. I recently had an eye exam but the doc just said i had dry eye and would need glasses when I hit my 50's. Not real helpful.
Avatar f tn I am taking tagamet otc- Walmart generic brand and for me it is better than the rx ones- But that's just me....
428886 tn?1217682034 I thought I read somewhere not to take anti acids while on tx. Is this right? I have had heartburn so bad the last 2 days it feels like a heart attack.
Avatar m tn 4 PPIs: Nexium, Prevacid, Aciphex, Protonix; 2 H2blockers: Zantac and Pepcid; 2 antiacids: Gaviscon and Riopan. I couldn't take any of these more than a few days (from 1 to 13 days) because of their side effects. The 2 bad side effects I've most often had are: worsened IBS - bad abdominal cramps (caused by Nexium together with fever and Zantac) a white-coated and burning tongue (caused by Prevacid, Zantac, Protonix, Pepcid, Riopan).
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with GERD and take Aciphex twice a day. If I don't take it for a few days the pain in my right side just under my ribs comes back. At first my doctor suspected my problem was my gall bladder and I had an ultra sound done on it and I had an endoscopy done. The results of both tests didn't show any problems. I have migraines at least once a week and take Nortriptyline and depacote to keep the migraines to occurring only once a week.
Avatar f tn My main concern is the bloating and difficulty breathing. I can barely function on a day to day basis. I eat little bites all day long because I can't eat a full meal or I start hyperventilating. I have had an EGD which showed a polyp (was removed) and some mild esophagitis. I don't have H. Pylori, Celiac Disease, or Lactose Intolerance.
