1090984 tn?1463769850 I am on 10mg lisinopril and 12.5 of a Diuretic. My fingers have been swelling up so bad the last 3 months to the point I had to have my rings cut off. My doctor doesn't seem concerned, just gave me another Diuretic 12.5 to take it when I swell up again. Will that lower my BP a lot or make me feel weird? I never heard of anyone taking that much unless they have CHF. I am a little concered why my fingers are so puffy all the time.
391561 tn?1227047215 Hello, is anyone familiar as to how enlarged a LV with a measurement from echo of 6.94 cm ? I am able to find what would be considered normal range, but I cannot find any reference as to how high this would be considered. I am concerned that this would be considered dangerously high. I have been on coreg and accupril for going on 5 months now, and was hoping that my heart would have begun to reshape itself somewhat by now.
Avatar n tn 160 mgs Lasix per day, obtained online without a prescription. Several days ago (4), I gave them up, cold turkey. The rebound edema is worse than I ever would have dreamed, and getting even worse by the day. Is this medically dangerous? How long will it last? Is there anything I can do (drink lots of fluids, e.g.) to provide relief? I am too ashamed to ask my doctor. Thank you for your help.
255738 tn?1230233362 Subtracting diastole number from systole number is medically referred to as pulse pressure. Normal is 20 and a pulse pressure greater than 60 seems to indicate CAD. Pulse pressure: "The up and down fluctuation of the arterial pressure results from the pulsatile nature of the cardiac output, i.e. the heartbeat. The pulse pressure is determined by the interaction of the stroke volume of the heart, compliance (ability to expand) of the aorta, and the resistance to flow in the arterial tree.
Avatar f tn I had been getting headaches off and on 2-3 days before everything, and put it off as being my sinuses due to being in the heat. I was put back on Accupril 10mg for the blood pressure, and a month later my bp was stable 120/80 or less, althought my heart rate stayed high usually around 120 even when resting.
Avatar f tn I do, when I skipped my diuretic pill. I have gained up to 3 pounds the next day. If you are on a diuretic pill don't skip it. If you aren't on a diuretic pill you should talk to your doctor. You need a prescription from your doctor for a diuretic pill.
478554 tn?1208034407 Hydrochlorothiazide, abbreviated HCTZ, HCT, or HZT, is a first line diuretic drug of the thiazide class that acts by inhibiting the kidneys' ability to retain water. This reduces the volume of the blood, decreasing blood return to the heart and thus cardiac output and, by other mechanisms, is believed to lower peripheral vascular resistance.
Avatar m tn About 4 years ago I found that I had CHF caused by A-Fib. My a-Fib is constant, it's just always irregular. I don't have periods in which I feel the A-Fib come on. The A-Fib started a vicious cycle, it caused me to retain fluid which then inhibited my heart even more, which caused me to retain more fluid. My EF was under 20%. They got the fluid out of me in the hospital over 8 days and put me on Wafarin, Carvedilol, Enalapril, and 80mg of Furosemide once a day.
15245238 tn?1439351704 I would try to take a good, herbal diuretic, drink more water, yes, this too, acts as a diuretic, avoid large amounts of salt, and do daily walking.
Avatar n tn Losartan alone, also known as Cozaar does not have a diuretic. But Losartan with HCTZ is also known as Hyzaar. Don't assume yours has the diuretic in it. Ask the pharmacist.
4403156 tn?1354189853 I was then prescribed 25 mg of a diuretic in August, which helped for a couple of weeks, but I was also on vacation during that period so taking things easy. I went back to work in September and got worse again. Still taking the diuretic and waiting to see an ENT. My ear is much worse now, the tinnitus is much worse, and I now have soreness and a burning sensation in my ear. I still have the draining feeling often, and it almost always feels full.

Avatar m tn I had the same problem for a couple of years... I had a urostomy... This is where they take a portions of the small bowel and place it in the bladder which leads to an opening on your stomach... It's like a straw... There is a bag hooked to the opening and that's where your urine goes into... You wear each bag for a few days then replace it... Emptying the bag when needed... This surgery is a very hard, painful, and long surgery but worth everything I went through...
Avatar m tn My blood pressure was around 145/80, and no telling how long that had been going on. Doc put me on 12.5mg of lisinopril with a diuretic and a statin drug. This helped, but I was totally unable to get an erection. I wasn't sexual with anyone, but that didn't seem normal. Doc prescribed 20mg of Levitra and changed me to 20mg of lisinopril without the diuretic. I used the Levitra to make sure blood still flowed to my penis, but even without it, things seemed to be more normal.
Avatar f tn I am not sure why it is not working or why the edema gets worse when taking it. It could be a very sensitive sulfa allergy and your body rejects the drug and that is causing a problem.
Avatar n tn Lisinopril doesn't have a diuretic in it unless it is the combination lisinopril-hctz
Avatar f tn I am taking Innopran and a diuretic but it still seems to occur only during ovulation and my period. I do not have astma. I am wondering if it can be totally unrelated to cardiomyopathy and more related to hormones? I am being treated by a cardiologist and we are trying the diuretic to see if it helps but so far it doesn't seem to. I am only taking the diuretic around the times that I expect to wheeze. I also am having a stopped up nose. Could it be allergies?
Avatar m tn Do you have a fever? A rapid heart rate over 100 at rest is a medically significant symptom and could be an indication of serious cardiovascular condition. There could be blocked arteries in your legs, called peripheral artery disease that may be causing your leg pain. “If you can walk through the pain and it gets better as you go, it’s rheumatoid arthritis,” says Michael R.
Avatar f tn s time to eat and when she needs to go outside. my question is, also in the last month or so her belly has swollen and her breathing a little more labored and her barks are not as loud. other than what i mentioned above all of her habits seem to be the same. is there anything inexpensive and unintrusive that would ease the swelling so maybe her breathing wouldn't be so labored. i just bought her a full support wheelchair so she can still enjoy her out door time.
Avatar f tn I have to find out what caused the swelling initially and why I continue to swell even after taking the diuretic. My doctor is actually very thorugh and will pursue a problem until the answer is found. It is my lack of questioning her that leaves me wondering what is going on. No, she hasn't had me do tests for my heart but I am sure they will be on her agenda. And no, I haven't been to a kidney specialist. Honestly, I think she is just tracking me to see what happens.
