Irregular menstrual cycle after iud removal

Common Questions and Answers about Irregular menstrual cycle after iud removal

menstrual-cycle

Avatar f tn Hello, If your periods were irregular before the IUD there are chances that they will be even after it is removed. Generally, with the copper IUD, regular cycles resume upon removal since there are no hormones in it. While after Mirena removal it may take some time for the body to adjust to the changing hormone levels and there may be menstrual irregularities. If your periods do not normalize within next few months then you should seek the opinion of a gynecologist. I hope it helps.
2011481 tn?1374262667 My bleeding has seemed to stop, i believe that it was just my first actual period after the IUD removal. As of right now, me and my husband are trying to concieve!! thanks again!
Avatar f tn Hello, Fertility returns soon after removal of an IUD. Hence you can get pregnant after an IUD removal. Pregnancy occurs only during the time of ovulation. Ovulation is the release of a single, mature egg from a follicle that developed in the ovary. It usually occurs regularly, around day 14 of a 28-day menstrual cycle. So try having unprotected intercourse at that time.
Avatar f tn The removal of the IUD should not cause any change in your cycle. You will probably spot because of the removal but it shouldn't have anything to do with affecting the cycle.
2124621 tn?1335156599 how would you know your menstrual cycle? if you have a period only for five days what would the menstrual cycle day will be? also how would you know if you ovulating? i also wanna know what can these symptoms be? i am have stomach pains, hot flashed, sleeping a lot, and brown discharged. can that be apart of the pregnancy symptoms or something else?
Avatar f tn It can take one or more months for the period to normalize after Mirena removal. After Mirena removal the menstrual cycle will return or it may go back to the way it was before the IUD was placed. It can delay fertility once it is removed but it does not inhibit it altogether. You may take some time to conceive. Consult your gynecologist. Best of luck and regards!

Avatar f tn Last month jan 25 th i removed my copper IUD (after having it for 1.8 years), just after my regular menstrual cycle. This month Feb 20th is my due date, but i didnt get any bleeding, rather i got cramps in abdominal, pelvic regions, headache, hunger, fatigue, breast tendreness just for 2 days. Today i am completely alright. Everything is fine. I am fearing what happened to me last 2 days? Is this due to IUD removed last month or early pregnancy symptoms or something else?
Avatar f tn Hello, Fertility returns soon after removal of IUD. Did you have the copper IUD or the hormonal IUD? After removing the IUD, a woman’s menstrual cycle usually resumes to normal within a few months only. A woman’s ability to become pregnant returns quickly. You should be able to try to get pregnant immediately as it does not interfere with ovulation. If you are doubtful that you are pregnant it is suggested to wait for your periods.
Avatar f tn Could the iud removal have changed my cycle and ovulation? Not sure if i should count the bleeding after removal as a period and the bleeding on april 18th as another period?
Avatar f tn And how long after removal did it take for you to get on a normal Menstrual? Got mine removed 3 days ago, and I want a ballpark of when Fertility returns..
Avatar n tn re able to conceive very soon after removal. When I had my first Mirena removed after five years, I remained off bc for almost two years because I wanted to regain a normal menstrual cycle. It only took my body a couple months to return to a regular cycle. But you know, some people conceive even WITH the Mirena in! Rare, but it does happen.
Avatar f tn This is my second IUD from after my second child birth, I've had it for about 2 years now. I missed my regular menstrual cycle which I've had normally with this IUD. And I have a mild pelvic pain that comes and goes for almost a week now. Any guesses on whats going on?

Avatar f tn I had an IUD removed on 4/14/12 i spotted the first day after removal then on 4/17/12 i started bleeding heavy i believed it was my period since i was supposed to start it went away around 4/25/12. i had unprotected sex on 4/27/12 i am waiting for my next cycle i believe now am like 6 days late i have been feeling nausea that doesn't go away, bloated, stomach pain, headache and tender breast also notice some white/yellowish discharge can i be pregnant?
Avatar m tn However she didn't know the IUD needed to removed until the day of the MRI itself. The people in charge of the MRI asked for clearance from her OB on the same day so there is no way we could've known. Based on what I read Copper IUDs are generally safe to use in the MRI but hospitals know better than to risk the possibility that it has an unwanted type of metal.
5813294 tn?1398293654 I was told by my doctor that removed my IUD on August 15th, that my cycle would be all over the place for a month or two. Then I've also read that many women become VERY fertile almost immediately after having their IUD taken out. I was on Depo for 2 years, then had my first Mirena for 5 years and had it replaced with my last one which I had for another 2 years or so. I haven't had ANY "cycle" for nearly 9 years!!!!

2080140 tn?1396402469 I had my IUD removed 12/27/11 and waited till I got my period before we started trying. (my dr reccomended that). I had my period on Jan 16th, and found out I was preg on Valentines day. So for us it only took 1 cycle. Good Luck!
Avatar f tn After the removal you should get you regular cycle, 2 weeks after that you can get pregnant. I had mine removed, and two weeks later got pregnant. I had the Mirena for 3 years. The doctor told me it would take 3-6 months, but I guess not.
Avatar m tn Is it really possible to conceive in the first cycle after removal of IUD. I am a 28 year old healthy female. I have on child(2 1/2 year old daughter).I had a Mirena implanted when my daughter was 6 months old. It has been a little over two years now. Had it removed on 7/8/10 ttc second child. Had AF on 6/28 then removal bleeding(AF) on 7/10. Expecting O this weekend. Had unprotected sex with the hubs 7/17 and 7/22. Have been reading posts of women that conceived the first or second cycle.
Avatar f tn Most women will not ovulate immediately after their IUD is taken out. (I assume you had Mirena since you had no cycle) while it is possible to get pregnant immediately, it's best to wait till you've had at least one cycle--the reason being is that if you get pregnant too soon after you risk miscarriage. Since its been two weeks you could technically test now. Make sure to use first morning urine. Good luck!!
1397855 tn?1280507551 m sorry for the delay in response--was very ill for awhile In my experience, women who had normal cycles before the Mirena was inserted, resumed normal cycles shortly after the IUD was removed. Women with irregular cycles prior to insertion, are likely to resume their irregular pattern.
