Involuntary index finger movement

Common Questions and Answers about Involuntary index finger movement

finger

Avatar n tn The involuntary movements in your right index finger could be due to use of vibratory tools. This collectively causes Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome or HAVS. Injury to motor component of nerves can also cause involuntary movements of the hand/finger. Pinched spinal nerve at lower cervical vertebrae too can be a cause.
Avatar n tn I have numbness in my right thumb and index finger. My hand feels swollen, though it is not. Vague numbness in forearm as well. Involuntary movement in thumb, where it pulls involuntarily into my palm, and I have severely reduced coordination in my right hand. As an MS patient, I was treated with Solumedrol 2 weeks ago, with no improvement, in fact seemingly worse symptoms now. Is there anything else this could be other than an exacerbation?

Avatar m tn t been able to move that index finger for 4 weeks since the pins were still in there, as any movement in that finger caused extreme pain...but now my index finger seems to be stuck in that same position (slightly curved, as if holding a cup). I started OT the Thursday after the pins were removed, but I couldn't do half the tendon gliding exercises as I could not make a fist.
Avatar f tn I had my pins taken out Monday from my right index finger this week, and today is Friday. I still have minimal movement and much stiffness. My finger is stuck in the position it was as when the pins were in, and I am still unable to make a fist. Also my top part of my finger is pointed more towards my pinky finger than sitting in the normal position. Is this how it it will stay, or will this get better when my knuckle swelling decreases?
18526740 tn?1465587509 have possible Orthostatic Myoclonus or Orthostatic Tremor. Either way he said I have Abnormal Involuntary Movement. Since there was no real diagnosis I had him give me a referral to the Baylor College of Medicine Parkinson's/Movement Disorder clinic in Houston. I went there last week for an appointment. I was in her office for over 3hrs talking to her or her assistant and going through the usual tests (walking up and down, finger touching, standing with eyes closed and so on).
431119 tn?1203948809 My 2 year old son has involuntary movements when he sees something he likes, he gets excited by movement- eg automatic doors , machinery wheels and is very upset when taken away from these things. his arms, shoulders , legs and feet also his facial expression changes. We have not made a big thing of this thinking he will grow out of it but he seems to be doing this more often..you can tell he is not in control of these movements..
1427077 tn?1282913207 I have a lump on the top joint of my index finger which has been there for about 2 months now. Sometimes its sore but now always & its starting to get bigger. Is it worth getting it checked out?
Avatar f tn A day or two later I had lost movement in my thumb and index finger. I still have not gained movement in them. I went to the movement disorder clinic to run some tests and it came back yesterday with mild carpal tunnel syndrome. The doctor who read the results was not the original doctor that I saw, and when I explained ot him what the prblem was, he said it was not carpal tunnel syndrome and that I seem to have two issues.
Avatar m tn Nose always itching, and last but not least, rashes on my index finger that comes and goes and I was afraid it was Whitlow that I had spread. Little rashes around hands and stuff too. Is it possible I did get dermatitis from this encounter? Thanks again. thank you again Dr. Hook.
Avatar m tn 5) Fast single twitch - both right fingers and left fingers 6) Rhymthmic pop twitch of the right forearm that moves my right index finger up and down which is my PRIMARY concern - It happens after action (pick up a mug, pull ups, opening a refrigerator, moving my arms, walking) and at rest. it feels like a pop in my right forearm at a rate of 1.5 -2hz (for 30sec to a min) which makes my right index finger goes, up and down, rest for a millisec, then goes up and then down.
1744581 tn?1311302411 I cut the knuckle of my R index finger on a deli/meat slicer 2 days ago, The ER dr said I had a layer of fat over the muscle left over the bone & that was it. I got 12 stitches. The dr didn't think I cut the tendon b/c I could move my index finger although I had a lot of pain. He diagnosed it as a AVULSION INJURY.
3095819 tn?1341019345 my left foot is swollen at the front of my foot and toes. it hurts tremendously. my index finger and the area around my index finger on my right hand is swollen and hurts real bad too. my heel on my left foot hurts as well and my neck. i've been aching all over lately, but the worst parts are my foot, hand and neck. i have a serious lack of movement in all those areas and my muscles hurt too. i've been to about 7 different doctors and nobody has been able to diagnose me with anything.
Avatar m tn Hi, Sometimes when i am typing for a while about 10 minutes or so, it started to tremble with all the fingers gets so strained except for the thumb. The finger that strains most is the middle finger. I think the root of the tremors come from my elbow. It just couldn't flex as my left hand. I had no injury to the hands in the past.
Avatar m tn I meant to say the proximal phalange.
Avatar m tn I also have involuntary muslce twiches, though i think they have started to go away. They can happen almost anywhere, sometimes in my index finger, above the ear (both sides), chest, etc. Im not sure what to do, i am quite young.
Avatar f tn My deepest concern is that the twitching has progressed throughtout my body- the back of my head, my neck, back, my limbs, abdomen, and just recently my fingers (mainly my right index finger and thumb). The twitching has become more frequent and is most noticeable when I am trying to sleep/relax. There are times when it feels my whole body is vibrating (again mainly when I am trying to sleep). There's not a day that goes by that I don't have muscle twitching.
Avatar n tn For several months now, at random times (but a few times a day), the index finger on my left hand will twitch for about a minute and then stop. It is not painful, and I wouldn't bother to bring it up, except that recently it has been accompanied by a couple of other involuntary muscle movements: for about a month the top of the bridge of my nose would twitch in a similar way, and now the muscles around my left knee tighten up in a similar fashion.
Avatar f tn It feels a little strange if you take you index finger and gently apply slight pressure on your belly where it feels solid and rub a bit thats what it feels like to me some describr it as a fish swimming in their belly others popcorn popping it depends i guess lol i hope this helps
Avatar f tn My wife has been to 3 hand specialists, 2 EMGs, x ray, MRI and nerve entrapment surgery. She has loss movement in her index finger, middle finger and the ring finger. It’s been 1yr+ and continues to get worse. The EMG says no chance of nerve recovery. But not sure why it is getting worse and no one can identify a root cause. No sudden injury or anything. Should she see a different specialists outside a hand one? Anyone have ideas?
Avatar m tn I had k-wire removed 10 days back from the index finger and middle finger of my right hand. However, both my fingers are very stiff, bent and swollen. There is hardly any movement in both of them. I have been doing physiotherapy (3-4 times a day for last 4 days). 1. Is this stiffness normal? I feel extreme pain as I try to straighten them 2. How long does it take for fingers to become normal?

Avatar m tn Now the problem is about 5 days ago I suddenly felt headache and chill and I had involuntary movements all over my body. both hands, feet, especially tongue and mouth. involuntary movements in all parts of my body were slow slight but quite noticable (e.g. my thumb moved about 1Cm and came back to its initial state and remained silent and then after ~5 minutes my heel and after another ~5 minutes my belly muscle,...
Avatar m tn These symptoms are suggestive of carpal tunnel syndrome, which is due to median nerve compression in the carpal tunnel at the wrist. Since median nerve is responsible for feeling and movement of the palm, thumb, index, middle finger and the thumb side of the ring finger, these areas may be affected. You have been engaged in repetitive hand and wrist movements, which can trigger the onset.
Avatar n tn ve been thinking I have some sort of nerve damage and possibly anxiety related issues. Lately my index finger has began to twitch or tremor (not sure of the right term) it will move in a left and right direction for a period of time. It also seems to occasionally move forwards as well but rarely. 90% of the time this occurs when I'm sitting at my computer desk. I admit I have always had terrible posture in general.
