Avatar f tn The Heart Rhythm Society did a few randomized trials to assess the efficacy of calcium channel blockers, beta-blockers and digoxin in SVT. A comparison of verapamil, propranolol and digoxin showed equivalent efficacy in a small group of patients. However, in general calcium channel blockers and beta-blockers are preferred to digoxin. Digoxin has been around for a long time! I used Digoxin over 50 years ago for my PSVT, and my recollection was that it did little to prevent episodes.
Avatar f tn s common use is for Afib and Aflutter, beta and calcium channel blockers are the more modern medicine of choice. Digoxin has potentially dangerous interactions with verapamil, and amiodarone, and a number of other commonly prescribed drugs.
4356842 tn?1353312209 So I had a pretty crappy cold about a week and a half ago, now being on digoxin I can't take cold meds so I stick it out. Well the cold is now over and my teeth are hurting. I see no signs of abscess' and my mom thinks it might be a sinus infection. No from what I've read online they usually give amoxcillin to treat it. My question is has anyone else on digoxin taken amoxcillin? Is it safe. Being on dig I know there's a lot of stuff we can and can not take.
624571 tn?1326923969 ll get vomit with Digoxin. Then he put Verapamil and Flecainide. I was spinning to sleep every night. I took the verapamil off by myself. Just the Flecainide by itself was fine. After 2 months, my heart beats very irregular. Big thumb here and there. Looks like restart every few minutes. GP wrote me to ER. I get admitted. The doctor told me that the Flecainide was not working anymore. Anyway, I already implanted a 2 leads pacemaker. I got Wolff Parkinsons White Syndrome.

Avatar n tn I am on Crestor, Atenolol, Cartia and Digoxin and Synthroid. I had Tachicardia and Atrial Fib. I have symptoms of shortness of breath, a dry cough, extreme fatigue, short term memory loss, extreme joint pain and stiffness, poor balance, weakness at times, vision gets dark at times, neck and throat soreness. I'm going to my doctor because I can't function with these symptoms. Can you tell me which meds can cause this and what other meds I could take. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Flecainide, Digoxin, Atenolol, verapamil can go into the bin. Also, the holter monitor report mentioned "ventricular runs" is not meant to v-tach. It is ventricular pacing. When my pacemaker is pacing my ventricle, I feel like an express train is running in my chest, sweat and exhausted. Yes, with the pacemaker, you still can feel the irregular pulses. It depends the programming what the doc set to. If he set to permanent pace at ventricle then you might be unable to feel one.
Avatar f tn Nothing would touch these episodes - the doctor and I tried increasing verapamil, digoxin and flecainide. The only thing that would terminate these episodes was a large oral dose of magnesium and potassium. However, the doctor remained skeptical that the magnesium was helping. About two months ago after another attack of tachycardia that I terminated with the mag and potassium, I quit taking the verapamil.
Avatar f tn Medicines that were tried and discontinued for either side effects or not helping- lopressor, florinef, midodrine, and verapamil. Currently, I am not being treated by any physician for my P.O.T.S.. After a recent abnormal holter monitor, during which my heart climbed as high as 160 (standing after sleeping), a doctor asked me if I'd ever taken digoxin.
Avatar m tn I'm taking 9 mg of methodone a day and are taking 4mg of Ativan and 4 mg of dilaudid 2 a day. I've been on meds for 6.5 years. I'm 39 and fill all I do is take meds . I quite once and the pain was to bad is this a lot of med?
Avatar f tn Yes, I understand there is an interaction between victrelis and grapefruit and I learned it on this board too. Then I looked for the confirmatin on that and found it in Victrelis' labeling. I don't believe either Victrelis or Incevik have been used to treat HIV. They were just approved in May, 2011, for the treatment of Hepatitis C. They are in a class of new drugs that target the specific virus and there are HIV drugs that do the same - but not the same drugs.
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with congestive heart failure after a brief stay in the hospital (admitted from the ER with chest pains). I was given several tests, including an echocardiogram and a nuclear stress test.
Avatar f tn My friend was scheduled for hernia surgery today, but it was canceled because he used methamphetamine two days ago. What are the risks of interaction between methamphetamine and anesthesia and how long should he abstain before it's safe to have surgery?
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, the drug herbal interaction between the valerian and prozac is not been well known or studied. There can be more sedation due to this combination. As for herbal drugs, Valerian has a long history of use as a sedative and anxiolytic. It is one of the most popular herbal preparations in Europe. It has also been reported that valerian improves sleep quality. It may have benefit for individuals with stress caused by a number of factors.
Avatar f tn High ventricular rate leads to insufficient diastolic filling time. Digoxin slows down the conduction in the AV node and increases its refractory period, and it can reduce the ventricular rate. The arrhythmia itself is not affected, but the pumping function of the heart improves by improved filling. The use of digoxin in heart problems during sinus rhythm was once standard.
Avatar m tn Without medication id rate it 10/10. I take neurontin, paracetamol and verapamil. The verapamil is a drug my neurologist has put me as the neurontin+paracetamol is not enough. Verapamil is used to hold off the onset of migraines and it has helped slightly. Had a medical breakthrough in the past couple of days.. Ive seen a million different Drs as im sure most of you have but one has finally found, what i hope to be, the cause of my severe facial pain.
Avatar n tn I am a 38 year old female with SVT and migraine. I was started on verapamil 120 mg then advised to increase the dose to 240 mg. At 240 mg, I experienced severe palpitations which woke me up at night, caused shortness of breath, and fullness in my neck. When I decreased the dose to 120 mg, the palpitations resolved.
Avatar n tn can i take 2 verapamil 120 er/myl twice daily, if i am out of the verapamil 240 er/myl twice daily
Avatar f tn My husband and I would like to start trying for a baby but i'm on Betablockers for a tachycardia that no-one can find a reason for! i'm only on 1.25mg of bisoprolol, and would like to know what risks there are. I'm currently on a waiting list to see cardiology and find out what their opinion is but would like a bit of advice.
Avatar m tn Hi all, I was wondering if anyone here knows if there is a negative interaction between the two. I am starting on Sevalla now (for fibromyalgia) and am in a state with legal medical marijuana (colorado). Does anyone know of any side-effects between the two? Or do i have to stick with just Savella altogether? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks guys!
Avatar m tn btw if you see a neurologist ask about verapamil... cuz it will keep your blood pressure lower... since yours seems to elevate and then you get a headache and get dizzy. its a very good drug im on it and it helps with all of those :) and the others are right about panic attack it could be that too but it if it happening with other people not just your boss then i think its more likely a headache kind of thing. hope this helped!
Avatar m tn I took verapamil for a couple of months (for PVC's) and it made things worse, so I went back to my BB but I can understand if you can not take that particular RX. It's prob worth a try, tho.
Avatar f tn I was taking verapamil for my tachycardia, I'm not sure about those side effects but you can definitely google verapamil and it should explain all side effects... I had an allergic reaction to it so I had to stop it... Now I'm on something I can't pronounce or spell, so I would look it up or even talk to your doctor about it and see if there is something else that you can take maybe a calcium channeller vs the beta blocker...
