Avatar f tn The healing process after an inguinal hernia repair takes 8 to 12 weeks. to complete Because the surgery involves ligaments and is often a somewhat bloody procedure, it takes a lot of time (a week or 2) for the swelling to go down. Meantime, for at least 8 weeks you are not to lift anything heavier than a cup of coffee, and do not allow yourself to get constipated (straining is bad).
Avatar m tn ve had a hydrocele surgery at the age of six, left side inguinal hernia surgery at the age of 10, and a right side inguinal hernia surgery at the age of 24. My right testicle have been attached closer to my body since my hydrocele surgery and I can clearly remember how uncomfortable it felt to have such an abnormal position of your testicle. After 20 years, I still feel some discomforting pains (on my right testicle) when exercising.
Avatar n tn I had an open repair of inguinal hernia. Incision is approximately 4 inches long. How long will I have pain and tenderness with this? I have no fever, and have already had followup with the surgeon with no return scheduled.
Avatar n tn If there are complications, such as the presence of an inguinal hernia, an incision is made in the groin area. This approach allows the doctor to repair the hernia or other complicating factors at the same time as correcting the hydrocele. Some surgeons use a minimally invasive laparoscopic approach to repair a hydrocele.
Avatar f tn In inguinal hernia sometimes prophylactic neurectomy of the inguinal nerve is done to prevent post op pain. Recent studies have indicated that neurectomy results in pain relief in about 72% cases. Postop complications are also very less. You can consider this option after discussing with your treating doctor. Take care!
Avatar n tn I had an inguinal hernia repair 3 weeks ago. I have worse pain now. My surgeon said he needs to operate again and do a second repair because the first one failed. Is there any malpractice here?

Avatar f tn I had hernia surgery a year ago, not too long after the surgery i realized that it was back. I didn't think anything about it, but the past month I have had really bad pain, worse pain than when I got it fixed the first time. The doctor just used permanent sutures the first time, is there any way that I could have this surgery without having to have the mesh screen put in this time? Also, my abdominal muscles are separated pretty bad, could I ask the general surgeon about diastasis repair?
1257808 tn?1322762215 I had an inguinal hernia. Got out of surgery around 14 days ago. I had an open mesh repair. I have documented my surgery and recovery here: www.myhernia.co.
Avatar m tn Surgery is the only treatment and cure for inguinal hernias. The surgery is best performed as an elective surgery with all the adequate precautions, to prevent recurrence. As we do not maintain a directory of doctors in this forum, we cannot recommend any specialists. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I had a inguinal hernia repair on my left side 4 days ago (7/16) and everything went pretty good. The surgical wound has been healing up well and I have no pain walking around and whatnot. However, when I masturbate, my left testicle starts to hurt as if I got kicked in the nuts. This is only for the left testicle. It's so painful that it's so not worth it to do it anymore.. I also noticed that my left testicle is slightly off-balanced from my right.
Avatar f tn Yes, I think a hernia can go into the scrotum. Hernia pain can also come and go. https://www.urologyhealth.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with a indirect inguinal hernia , but mine doesn't go down into my scrotum but goes upward pulling on my testicle cord. When it's out in its full glory, it's the size of a grapefruit and hurts pretty bad. Is this normal?
Avatar f tn I am on my second week of post inguinal hirnea surgery. At about 12 days I started to feel burning below the incision and pain in my testicle on the side of the incision. I went to the ER and they checked me out and did an ultra sound of the testes and said everything looked good. I saw my doc surgeon for a follow up the next day and he said everything looked good and that pain may persist in that area for up to a month or 6 weeks. The numbness below the incision is starting to wear off.
Avatar m tn Bottom line I went into get gallbladder removed now I need OPEN Hernia surgery to repair inguinal hernia. (My internist agrees the gas probably pushed the hernia out. Painful bulge, burns sometimes, but seems to go back in when I sleep and pops out next day.) Can gas cause this and if my surgeon read prior scans (he didnt) what could have been done differently. I am sure I am not the first patient to have suffered from gas-induced hernia.
Avatar n tn I got operation on 11/30/2011 for multiple inguinal hernia. Bilateral scope surgery. I had this hernia for over 15 years. As of right now I feel tenderness and throbing in my left scrotum. "the same EXACT pain i had when I had my hernia" I was constipated for about 4 days. after 4 days I was ok using restroom. I have to use it now however I have pain in scrotum and scared to use any muscles cause it feels like something will bust out of my testicles if I try pushing. Please help.
Avatar f tn So I had a inguinal hernia repair about 2weeks ago on my left side and everything has been going good I hope I’m just a really worried person on account that I try not to do much ...
Avatar m tn After an inguinal hernia repair ~1 year ago, I am still experiencing erectile dysfunction and weak ejaculation. No issues whatsoever prior to surgery but issues immediately after. In the surgery report it said they had to sacrifice the genitofemoral and ilioinguinal nerve branches due to severe adhesion to the hernia. Post-operation I have not since had "morning wood" and have experienced somewhat of a decrease in size (both flaccid and erect).
Avatar m tn I had laparoscopic surgery to repair an inguinal hernia. After 4 months, the hernia returned, and so I had a second repair surgery by incision. Now, 10 months after the second operation, I'm having some odd "tearing" pains and tenderness under the incision site, and down toward my groin. I'm trying to understand the geometry of the two repairs.
Avatar m tn Several weeks ago I noticed a soft movable lump in my right groin area. I have a history of a right inguinal hernia which was repaired appx. 27 years ago. My physician thought it not to be a recurring hernia but rather a enlarged lymph node and placed me on antibiotics and ordered a Ultrasound of the right groin. The ultrasound suggested it to be a complex cyst.
Avatar n tn Hey I also had a inguinal hernia, I believe my car accident caused this. The problem was I am female so everyone thought it was an ovarian cyst and I actually had laproscopy only to have the bump come back in a month. Turns out he cut the hernia open. Even with ultrasounds and ct scans they couldnt see it because you have to lay on your back. Finally after 9 years of pain I had surgery and it was so worth it. You will have pain till you heal.
Avatar n tn It's been 20 days since the Inguinal hernia surgery, but the hernia still feels like a water ball (As much as a testicle) on the side of the testicle. My doctor said it will go away in few weeks. Will it take longer to heal? This is a problem for me. Please explain to me?
Avatar n tn Hi, What you are referring to is known as Secondary testicular Ascent and it’s a known complication of inguinal herniotomy (hernia surgery). The small mobile prepubertal testis is either dislocated from its normal scrotal position or due to the tethering by the scar tissue prevents its normal scrotal descent. The incidence of this complication is from 1-3%. Actually, in some cases, the testis may already lying high in the scrotum and may be concealed by the hernia.
5829074 tn?1375034908 One other - possibly unrelated to this pain - is that I have an inguinal hernia. Apparently this happened 6 months prior to the surgery and went undiagnosed, as I thought it (the bulge) was just related to my suprapubic catheter. I never had scrotal/testicle pain until after the surgery though. I'd be grateful for any thoughts on this. Thanks!
