Avatar n tn There are reports that link people taking IV fosamx to osteonecrosis of the bone having oral and maxilofacial surgery. Treatment really depends upon degree of severity. Most of the time patients are advised hyperbaric chambers.
Avatar f tn Hi I wonder if some one can help me i had a toothe extraction on thursday which was very difficult to get out, as the roots were attched to the jaw bone now after 3 days i have a swelling in the inside of the palete and do not now if this is an infection it is really painful ant sujestions thanks
Avatar f tn Axillary and groin lymphadenopathy are not commonly associated with jaw bone infection. Further investigation of lympadenopathy is wattented.
Avatar n tn I was just diagnosed with 4 abcesses and had to have emergency tooth removal of 2 of the 4 teeth. The dentist informed me that the infection had spread into my jaw bone. Should I have it checked further to make sure all infection is gone?
Avatar n tn Tooth did not come out in one piece. Ten days later went back to dentist as sharp piece of bone sticking out of extraction site. Dentist removed, said it was not uncommon & that everything looked fine. I was still l having problems with swollen & achiness left side of face & both eyes were slightly swollen small blistery rash. He gave me clindamycin for 10 days. It helped.
Avatar n tn It appears that you have a Decacified Freezed Dried Bone Allograft(DFDBA) implanted to your mandible. The strength of jaw bone is generally not affected by graft material. However, the graft material tends to preserve the alveolar bone during healing process. DFDBA will be resorbed and replaced by natural bone. After completion of wound healing, it would be a good idea to replce the missing tooth with implant if conditions allowed.
587537 tn?1220104892 I went to dentist because there was something stuck beside top moler #2 and was cutting my cheek. Was told it is jaw bone and they pulled it out. Oh did that hurt; thats when the extreem pain started and swelling of both upper and lower gums. I do clinch my teeth, jaw pops/cracks more as I get older. So I was sent to a oral surgen to get the moler pulled, took exrays and he said No way; your sinus are swelling. Went to medical Dr.
Avatar n tn Paid $3500, for root canal treatment that seeminly went well but have now had tooth removed due to perforation of jaw bone by post (extensive bone loss). Dentist assured me was not my fault as I did nothing wrong nor did he ??????????
Avatar f tn The 2nd tooth was pulled 3 weeks ago, and although that area on my jaw is definitely better, the other area of my jaw to which the infection spread (up towards my ear, concentrated in my jaw joint) still hurts VERY much. And I still have the fever. I do feel better overall, I no longer feel as ill as I did before having the 2 teeth pulled, but the painful ache in the jaw joint area really concerns me.
Avatar n tn I WENT BACK AFTER 2 WEEKS FOR A FOLLOW-UP AND THE RESULTS FROM THE BIOPSY OF THAT AREA. IT REVEALED I HAD A BONE INFECTION IN MY JAW BONE. I WAS SENT TO AN INFECTIOUS DISEASE DOCTOR WHO PRESCRIBED IV THERAPY (AT HOME) FOR 6 WEEKS. I DID THIS EXACTLY AS I WAS TOLD. I WAS JUST ABOUT PAIN FREE FOR ABOUT 1 1/2 MONTHS. AT THE END OF APRIL, THE PAIN RETURNED. MY ORAL SURGEON CHECKED ME AGAIN, AS DID MY REGULAR DENTIST.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, it usually takes the path of least resistance so it can spread quite rapidly once it goes through the jaw bone. It can potentially not develop this pus pocket and go straight into the sinus/head or it can travel down the neck depending on the tooth. If you are concerned about a possible infection, it would be best to address the issue sooner than later.
1082629 tn?1256232086 In May/June of this past year, I developed a lump on my jaw bone. Thinking that it was a problem with a tooth (maybe an impacted wisdom tooth?) I went to the dentist. At this point the lump was maybe not quite the size of a pea. I went to the dentist and they had no same-day appointments, and that if I was worried about the lump that I should go to the ER.
Avatar m tn Her primary issue is the loss of bone in her jaw, leaving some teeth loose. But her bone density tests (I think) are fine. One physican gave her Synthroid, another told her to stop. One perscribed Boniva, another said no, cause she is a young lady. Here are her labs. Any comments? Bone Marker Tests: TP1NP: 26.57 (Range: 20.00 to 100.0 ng/ml) Vitamins D: 42.27 (Range: 50.00 to 100.0 nmol/l) Osteocalcin: 19.49 (Range: 11.00 to 43.00 ng/ml) B-CTx: . 265 (Range: ???

Avatar n tn If I am not mistaken, there is a nerve series that runs on the side of the face from approx. the temple to the jaw bone that can become inflamed with dental work/infection, and for reasons unknown. I believe this is seen more often in people with MS. There have been treatments successful in relieving the pain. I cannot recall the name of this pain as the word is a little lengthy. You really should not have to live with pain. Perhaps Google, facial nerve pain or dental, facial pain.
Avatar m tn Dear Sirs, I asking a question on behalf of my mother. October - She had two back molars removed on her right lower jaw. Both had fillings. She broke them (one crumbled) while she was eating. She tells me the dentist had trouble removing the remains, something to do with a "dry socket"? They came out in pieces and over the course of a month she had bits of bone protruding through her gum. The dentist took x-rays and found a black shadow on the jaw line (bacteria).
Avatar m tn Its been a week and the swollen parts of his face went away and the bump from under his jaw became smaller and moved to the side of his jaw. Should I take him to the vet or will the bump go away, Help please? The bump was hard at first but as it shrunk and moved up his jaw it became soft. It was a week from when the bump suddenly appeared to when it had shrunk and moved.
Avatar n tn The swelling indicated that the abscess has spread out of the jaw bone and into the surround jaw/face area. This can travel quickly through the head and be a dangerous situation. Best to go to the ER to get it checked out before it becomes worse. I would also recommend getting the offending wisdom tooth out as soon as possible to prevent any future risk.
Avatar n tn Margot and Karla are both right. It has to be an antibiotic, and this is best prescribed by the vet. So take your dog for an assessment before she has the tooth removed. Actually....I'm surprised the vet hasn't already prescribed these for her (?) It is important to get on top of the infection now. It is not wise to give a dog general anesthesia with an infection running. It can be done, but isn't wise.
Avatar n tn The biophosphonate drugs have been known to cause osteonecrosis (infection causing loss of bone) of the jaw. A disease you do not want to get. The lecturer said she would never recommend anyone taking them. Having an extraction or even a root canal after taking these drugs can initiate the infection in the bone.
Avatar n tn SHE HAD DIFFICULTY FINDING A LAB THAT WAS FAMILIAR WITH THE TEST AND ONE THAT PERFORMED THE TEST. THE RESULTS OF THE TEST INDICATED THAT HER JAW BONE WAS NOT SUFFICIENTLY STRONG[?] ENOUGH TO WITHSTAND THE WORK THAT NEEDED TO BE PERFORMED, SO HER DENTISTS HAD TO FIND ANOTHER WAY TO DO HER DENTAL WORK. THE DENTIST EXPLAINED THAT THE CONDITION OF HER JAW WAS THE EFFECT OF PROLONGED USE OF FOSAMAX. SHE COULD NOT THOROUGHLY EXPLAIN WHAT WAS GOING ON.
Avatar f tn I noticed the symptoms really peak after suffering from Hepatitus (toxic from overuse of tylenol and tylenol codiene prescribed on top of that for a tooth INFECTION) i also have been suffering from mucusy stools -tested no chrohns-it is undertimened colotis and overgrowth of bacteria?not sure kind, I no longer suffer from the hepatitus. But symptoms have not gone away the whole list of fibro symptoms. I did test positive for ASCA and neg atypical Panca does this have any significance??
Avatar f tn Could THAT be necessary to stop all of the infection? You mentioned the infection could be in the jaw bone, itself. I will ask today but I assume the biopsy revealed the infection was not in the bone ....since he did take some for biopsy and cleaning when he removed the cyst. I know from the CT scan that the cyst had invaded the bone. What else can I ask for at this point? I want to get better.
1325320 tn?1274809324 s in my jaw and eaten the piece of bone. The left side as this also, which as got me thinking that I may have had a piece of bone here although it hasn't shown up on previous xrays. I was wondering if it is pagets decease as my uncle had it in his legs. If not could you give me advice as the nhs have kept me ill and in pain for these three years and I need some closure. Do want the honest truth, Be so grateful! My xray and photos are on; http://www.flickr.
Avatar f tn The dentist had basically destroyed my jaw and removed 90% of my jaw bone in the area of the extraction. Called the dentist and said this was normal and not to worry about it and to keep my appointment for the bridge a week later. I cancelled and went to another dentist that I trusted.
Avatar m tn I saw a dentist 3 days later and she said there is no sign of infection. The area of extraction is still very sore, the tender part at the base of the lower gum now has a sharp thing coming out of the side, which I'm told is a shard of bone that will eventually work it's way out. I'm finished on the antibiotics now and am incredibly concerned that I haven't got a full answer to what has been going on.
