It could just mean that there has been an infection in that part of the bowel or it could mean chrons.
You definately need to have more tests. My chrons showed on the barium swallow and I also had a blood test to see if I had the gene for chrons. It did confirm the chrons and I ended up getting very sick later. Started on Remicade which did wonders.
the drs did the hysterectomy, and had to do a bowel resection, because scar tissue from prior surgery had fused her small bowel to her female parts and bladder. they took 10 inches of small bowel to free the parts being removed.
6 months after surgery her cancer recurred. she did 25 external radiation treatments, and 3 internal.she finished tx 7-15-2013. she lost 40 pounds from july to november. her oncologist said her radiation enteritis was chronic after 4 months.
I have chronic pain. I have had my gall bladder removed, part of my small bowel removed (due to endometriosis), mesh put in my abdomen from a hernia and a hysterectomy. My last surgery was approx 3 years ago. Since then, I have had loose yellow bowel movements, chronic pain in my abdomen, shoulders, knees, feet and hands. Cymbalta helped but caused constipation. With that being said and the research I have done, my question is:

This leaking you're referring to is where a stitched-up area, especially of the bowel, will bust open and "leak," and can cause an infection. Infection is one of the major complication of all surgeries, and it normally shows itself within 24 hours, generally by a high fever. Once the operation scar heals up, and if a person feels well for at least a week with normal temperature, you can pretty much consider your daughter out of the woods.

Other causes which need to be ruled out are bowel obstruction, ectopic pregnancy, ovarian cysts and pelvic inflammatory disease, irritable bowel syndrome , kidney obstruction or pyelonephritis, psoas abscess and volvolus.

No one ever said anything about the bowel repair or possibility of infection from it. My concern is, what are the long-term effects of a bowel repair? Also, shouldn't the doctor have informed me that this happened? I was very worried I had some kind of awful post-operative infection. I am going to request a copy of my surgical report...but this is all strange to me....but it does explain why my surgery was so long (over 3 hours), and why the infection happened.
I was then put on 7 days of Septra and 10 days of Septra DS in which the infection finally cleared. I tested negative about 2 weeks ago and now still have lingering symptoms, for one my bowel habits are all over the place, sometimes I go once a day, sometimes three and it can vary from normal stools to loose and sometimes even still a bit of diarrhea. I am also still experiencing the pain I developed on my rectum which is on and off, warm baths seem to help it.
my mum, 55 underwent surgery 6 months ago to remove cancer from her bowel, she had chemo twice but reacted badly both times. Since that time she had hardly been able to eat and keep foods and liquids down. She went into hospital last week for surgery as her bowel had twisted. The surgery went well but yesterday she had emergency surgery as there had been a leakage and infection has spread to all her organs. They said she has a 50/50 chance but her body isnt fighting the infection well.
Hello everyone. I cannot seem to find the cause of my ordeal and would like anyone's help to decipher through the list of symptoms listed:
- Unintentional weight loss, muscle wasting
- Inconsistent bowel movements (changes from color to mass [solid, loss])
- Facial outbreaks (pimples mostly on the jawline and the corner of the mouth)

Twice in a week's time I have had soft bowel movements of large quantity. Along with this is spasams, sweating,dizziness, nausea, and sever shakes. about 3 hrs ago i peed in my home toilet, then i took a shower and i forgot to flush it. i know, it's stupid. even more stupid, about an hour ago i had to go #2 and i was distracted while walking in and just sat down with the urine still in the toilet.

I have acute pain right side of my belly button, I . Have had appendix out and have had both tubes removed with my left ovary. Had an operation on my kidney, so feel like have had so many things the docs are thinking oh what now? Pain is very acute and suffer for days at a time. Seem to have alot of flatulence aswell. Think it's maybe bowel, but do not want operation as I want to start ivf. Does anyone have any answers?
I just got back from the E.R. again except i traveled 60 miles for this one. it is a better facility, and better care.
Dr. Lipscher told me it was or could be due to prostatitis. I read up on it and it sounds like he is right. he prescribed me lortab, polyetheline glycol and cipro.
I also read this could cause constipation and lack of bowel movements. So hopefully this will help!

I should have mentioned that early on in the infection I did notice that some white mucous would pass instead of or at the same time as a bowel movement prior to starting the antibiotics the first time around. I also have experienced some anal itching (before antibiotic treatment and then it made a recent slow comeback) that can be relieved by -- wait for it -- hand sanitizer. Ouch at first. But yup, bye bye itch.
This is characteristic or irritible bowel syndrome. Curiously, for hundreds of years a small amount of nicotine was used to cure this malady. Not much. Perhaps the equivelant of a cigarette a day. A bit of chewing tobaco was another traditional remedy. Often a bacterial infection is the problem, although parasites are also a possibility. In any event, if this persists longer than several weeks, rather than self-treat I suggest an evaluation by an M.D. specializing in intestinal problems.

2008:
- Had a disastrous fallout with wife. Went on sex spree vengefully & visited 4 sex-workers in West Coast each about 2 days apart. (One was Chinese, one was Hispanic and others White).
All protected vaginal sex and one protected anal sex. No condom break/fail.
- Got in a sexual relation with a Russian woman, protected vaginal, protected anal. Some unprotected cunnilingus (not too deep).
hello: I have this problem for a lot of years. When i move my bowels , i wipe myself clean but after a bit of time a little more seeps out and have to return to bathroom to wipe again.And after an hour i might have to go in an wipe again, and so on. I wonder if anyone else has this problem. I think it comes from irritable bowel but I AM NOT SURE. My family doctor seemed a little baffled by it. I hope someone can give me an answer. I had this since years and am tired of it.
