Common Questions and Answers about Infection of bowel

infection

This all has been going on for nearly two weeks now. Could this be a result of some sort of bowel infection? I also have "severe" dismotility of the esophagus so my digestive processes from top to bottom are not in sync. Can this esophageal problem leading to slow digestion over a period of decades lead to lower digestive problems such as what is going on now? I am disabled and have no insurance thus I have no pcp to see until the middle of August.

I had vomiting, chills, terrible rigors in the night that washed over my body (crawly, prickly feelings) that kept me from sleeping, vomiting every morning and no appetite. There is no sign of infection according to blood tests, no sign of parasites on two sets of tests and nothing on an x-ray. I have to take sleeping pills to sleep at night to sleep through the chills. I was getting a little better after three weeks and then ate too much and had a relapse.

Vomiting, dyspepsia may indicate stomach problems. Altered bowel habits are seen in diseases affecting the intestines. The most common signs and symptoms of kidney infections are nausea, vomiting, abdominal fullness, lower back ache, frequent urination, the urge to urinate, pus or blood in the urine, fever. A complete history, clinical examination and investigations may be helpful.
See your doctor regarding this as there are several things it could be.
They said there was a 1% chance of downs, 4% chance of cf, 15-20% chance of infection, or it could just be that the he has swallowed some blood and it is showing up on the u/s. I had an amnio yesterday and blood work done. I will get the results back over the next 2 weeks. I will also have another u/s on December 19th. Does anyone have experience with this???

my mum, 55 underwent surgery 6 months ago to remove cancer from her bowel, she had chemo twice but reacted badly both times. Since that time she had hardly been able to eat and keep foods and liquids down. She went into hospital last week for surgery as her bowel had twisted. The surgery went well but yesterday she had emergency surgery as there had been a leakage and infection has spread to all her organs. They said she has a 50/50 chance but her body isnt fighting the infection well.

I am a 36 year old female and have recently had very loose and frequent (2ish per day) bowel movements that are tan in color. Today I just had a bowel movement that was tan with a lot of red (blood?) in it. I have never had any gastroenterology problems in my life. I am limiting my calorie intake in an effort to lose weight, but this started prior to the diet. I drink a lot of coffee which always accelerates my bowel movements but this is a definite change. Thank you.

stool, blood, x-ray, ultrasound) - and found nothing wrong. Our doctor thinks she picked up a virus about a month ago, and it has left her with irritable bowel syndrome - we're a little skeptical. (This has left her with the worst rash I've ever seen) We're at the end of our rope - does the diagnosis make sense? If so, what can we do about it?
Amoebiasis is another infection, which can cause similar symptoms. Treatment for uncomplicated cases of amebiasis generally consists of a ten-day course of metronidazole given by mouth. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
I just would like to try to narrow this thing down. Is it related to my bowel infection? some kind of bug that can travel to your brain? or an infection that can get to your brain? any ideas. Or should I be thinking it has to do with the use of acid ONE time. Other possibly relevant information is that my girlfriend, who was also with me in Indonesia and Australia, and now, is also having some issues but to a lesser extent.
Probiotics may be helpful for restoring normal intestinal flora. Antibiotics may be needed in cases of intestinal infection. Consult a doctor. Keep me posted. Best luck and take care!
Without even and exam she was told she needed her parathyroid gland out. So we did that (very costly Dr Norman) It didn't make one bit of difference. After many dr appointments and probably thousands of anti diarhee meds. ( She also had a fistula and diahhrea was coming out her vagina. She went to see a colon surgeon. He said she needed a bowel resection. Which she had 3 weeks ago. she is home now but very weak and constant diahhrea. Dr said she just has to heal.
infection with helicobacter pylori and use of nonsteroidal anti inflammatory medications (NSAID). So for the ulcer to heal and to reduce acid levels avoid NSAIDs, quit smoking, eliminate alcohol and reduce stress levels. OTC antacids and antibiotics to treat H pylori further aid in therapy. Please consult your primary care physician for proper assessment. Regards.
hello: I have this problem for a lot of years. When i move my bowels , i wipe myself clean but after a bit of time a little more seeps out and have to return to bathroom to wipe again. And after an hour i might have to go in an wipe again, and so on. I wonder if anyone else has this problem. I think it comes from irritable bowel but I AM NOT SURE. My family doctor seemed a little baffled by it. I hope someone can give me an answer. I had this since years and am tired of it.
I'm not a doctor, but based on my experiences and those of my family members, I think that's the key question/issue here. If you've been diagnosed in the past with a history of irritable bowel, maybe your body is still just trying to get back to normal. I'm assuming they checked you for bacteria/infections that would cause the liquid stools (like Clostridium Difficile, Salmonella, Shigella, etc.) If you're not sure whether they did or didn't check you, I would definitely call and ask now.
Hemorrhoids Anal fissures Diverticular bleeding Intestinal infection (such as bacterial enterocolitis) Vascular malformation Inflammatory bowel disease Tumor Colon polyps or colon cancer Trauma or foreign body Bowel ischemia (a lack of proper blood flow to the intestines)
The CT scan might show it, could be a benign growth of some kind, could be appendicitis, could be scarring from some other operative procedure that was done in the past, could be a gland is swelling because of inflammation or infection, could be a hernia where the muscle gets torn and the bowel will push thru there, there's a bunch of things it could be.
It sounds like your son has some sort of digestive problem or infection. Green stools mean that the food is not being absorbed into the intestines and there is excess bile in the feces. He needs to see a gastroenterologist.
Yes, any change in the color and formation of stool should be thoroughly investigated. A viral infection can change the stool color to dark bottle green color. The stool can become green on taking food rich in green leafy vegetables. If this is not the cause, then the stool is passing out of the large intestine at a very rapid rate so the bile does not break down. This can happen if you have malabsoroption syndromes or IBS. Another reason is a diet rich in sugars.
I did an at home hemocult test which was negative for blood, have no famlit history of bowel problems and I do not smoke although I drink alchohol moderately. My BM's seem to indicate that my colon is "spasming" as the shape is thinner than usual. I do have an occasional dull ache in my right side, but is is not painful or constant. The conditon was improving but my today my BM was thinner, almost rectangular. The color of my stools seems to be normal.
