Avatar n tn ) on the inside thigh of the side with the THR be caused by an infection in the hip replacement? This absess has been draining for 7 weeks and still not closed and still has fluid. Also, previous pain in the hip has diminished almost totally since the absess was addressed. Is there any method of scan to see what is occurring? Thank you.
Avatar m tn A friend of mine has a staph infection in the hip. can the staph infection be spread to others? if so how?
Avatar m tn By the way i feel this pain in my left hip too. It starts from the groin and goes to the hip and almost butt and i feel more pain when i sit.
Avatar n tn I at that time did not think I needed to tell him about the large painful boil on my left butt cheek, but now I am getting a little concerned, can this cause infection in my new hip? I have gotten Boils in the butt & groin area in the past, so I am not sure if I should be concerned or not??? Please let me know if this is something I should call and let my OS know. Thanks!
Avatar n tn Hi, This could be due to some allergic reaction or bacterial infection/ fungal infection or dermatitis or eczema, etc. Nothing can be said with surety without having a look at the lesions. It would be best to consult a doctor about the symptoms if they do not resolve and get a proper clinical examination. Keep the area clean and wear clothes washed in a few drops of chlorhexidine preferably and dried in the sun.Maintain good personal hygiene and wear lose comfortable clothes.
Avatar f tn He continues to get what we think is an infection, but nothing will grow on the culture. They removed his hip replacement and put in a temporary hip full of anibiotics for about 3 months. Then they put the hip in again and he is still having problems. He continues to fill with fluid that when it is aspirated shows a puss color. However, they cannot figure out what is causing this to keep happening. He has seen multiple doctors (surgeons, infection disease, etc.
Avatar f tn however, the reason for my concern is, in 2007, I had a total hip replacement surery. I know now before dental appointments (and like), I need to take antibiotics, to prevent infections that could go to my prothesis. So, in my fear that I may have an infection brewing in my body from this jerk who decided to use his own dirty fingernails as "tools", about 30 minutes ago, I took 4 amoxicilliin capsules. I had them left over from a recent dental procedures.
Avatar f tn s starting to flare up my sciatica in my right leg. Sometimes I feel a similar pain in my lower left side. Would I have pain in my left side if it were appendix related? Could it be kidney infection? It feels like something is stuck in that spot in my lower right side. I'm having normal bowel movements and pain increases after bowel movement. IBS? Probably going to ER today but just wanted to hear others opinions.
Avatar n tn I cannot confirm anything without examination of this deep hole in your skin. The type of hole and associated features will help in arriving at a diagnosis. Get it seen by a surgeon. I sincerely hope it helps. Take care and best regards!
Avatar m tn Because of the concern of another infection and deteriorated hip bones, my Dr wants me to consider this. As he says, No Hip - No Infection. Is my hip fused in this procedure? How rough is the recovery? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I have been having pain in my lower right back, hip and apendix area for a while now and it is worse when i wake up and it feels like a strained muscle type feeling, not a sharp apendixy feeling. The thing that worries me is that when i go to the bathroom it is extremely painful and I'm not expelling as much soil as normal. any ideas what it could be?
Avatar m tn As carolanivey said, the pain that you describe as being in his groin is really in his hip. I used to think that hip pain had to be felt on the outside. Not so much :-) The actual hip socket is right where the top of the femur turns in to meet the pelvis. This was a marvel of anatomy I learned when my doc told me I had about 80% bone on bone osteoarthritis in my left hip. I was 49 then (53 now).
20843126 tn?1532082882 Hi There, As the titles said, my mother had a surgery last year (Hip Joint Replacement), over the few months it was ok to move on with the walker, but since the time my mother had pain in the leg (not the in the artificial hip joint), pain and stiffness, sometimes she is not able to walk one ladder step and sometimes not even walk with walker.
Avatar m tn I formed a red bump on my hip that was first thought to be a bite of some sort. Then after rubbing it/scratching, i started to form red bumps on inner thing and genital area. This was then thought to be filacolitus. Afterwards the bumps havent gone away and have been present for atleast 4-5 weeks. Im not sure where to go from here. Any chance it could be herpes? I have only had intercourse with one female and she the same with me. Years ago I recieved oral from a couple others.
Avatar f tn At the time she had the infection and before it was diagonised, she was unable to stand or walk. Seems it settled in her hip. This was a year ago, and she still complains every once in a while of pain in the hip. Could this be long term effects from the infection? Will this disease cause long term effects?
Avatar m tn Young fem collapsed after severe pain in hip and lower spine of back in trauma hospital for two wks. Ortho and infectious disease is involved nobody knows what this is yet..The above areas were contrast cat scanned two wks ago after my left hip revision surgery well one day before they cat scanned me under anethesia and contrast and found an infection between pelvis and hip on a nerve and muscle between which..Put on massive antibiotics for that week...
Avatar f tn And #8 indicated you have a chronic infection in your right hip. The medical term for that is Osteomyelitis. It is an infection of bone or bone marrow. By definition Osteomyelitis is inflammation of the bone and marrow, but since it is always caused by an infection, it indirectly implies an infection. It generally encompasses all of the bone including the bone marrow. When it is chronic it can lead to bone sclerosis and deformity.
Avatar f tn A few times a year I get a herpes type outbreak on my right hip, just at the top of my thigh. It starts with a soreness in my hip joint and an ache in my leg. The skin becomes tender to touch, then within a day, I have a quarter size red splotch. If not treated with acyclovir immediately, the splotch opens to blisters. It has never become larger than the quarter-size area. Ice packs relieve the pain. I had herpes of the right eye about 25 years ago, and used to get many cold sores.
Avatar m tn In November, had hip pain with a recurrent infection. Both implants were removed and an antibiotic spacer was put in. Started on iv Cefa in a Pikk line 3 times daily for 6 wks. It was a non resistant Staph, still sensitive to Cefa. Off antibiotics for 2 weeks, inflammatory markers were normal. Slides taken during the revision when they replaced the metal implants on Jan 12 '10 showed less than one WBC per high power field.
Avatar n tn HI, Enlarged lymph nodes in the groin can be caused by infection or tumours mainly malignant in the area of drainage that is the lower limbs and the pelvic region. Hence you need to consult a gynaecologist for a pelvic examination and also an orthopaedic Doctor for the hip pain. An ultrasound scan and CT scan will help diagnose any deep seated lesions in that area. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations.
Avatar f tn Hi again everyone, my leg is killing me, its really swollen today, and i have radiating pain from my ankles to my hip. My pain has definitely got worse since i had surgery, not in my knee but everywhere else. I just hate playing the waiting game, because thats what my doctor makes me do, and im not able to take pain meds, so i have to deal with it everyday. It's very irratating, and it's hard to stay positive and happy when all im able to do everyday is sit in my bed and watch tv.
Avatar f tn She was 86 and admited the same day I was with an infection in her foot that was the consequence of a recent removal of melanoma on that foot (!?). The next day after admission an infectious disease research specialist told her within my earshot that she had suspected MRSA (culture not thru yet) ad would she sign up for double blind study for an alternative to vancomycin.blah,.blah.blah. I confronted him about isolating her and he said we aren't sure..but we will.
Avatar f tn My mother is 57 has rheumatoid arthritis, lupus & diabetic for over 20 years. My mother has had 2 heart attacks with 6 stints & a stroke last October. After all of her health problems she was still 100% independent until 01/29/2008 when she was having left hip pain the week prior & she thought it was her arthritis flaring up after extreme pain & unable move in the bed & walk without assistance we took her to the emergency room where her temperature was 103.
Avatar f tn I am 40 year old female a little overweight, and a few days ago I woke up with pain in my left groin area ( like where the underwear lie) It does not hurt to walk, but it is sensitive to the touch and my skin in very sensitive. The pain has also moved to the outside of my hip, I could not lay on that side last night, but only when I touch it. At first I was not to concerned, but now I am wondering if it could be a blood clot in the groin.
