Avatar m tn i have chlamydial eyelid infection alongside with blepharitis in my right eye, im not sure which condition came first. Before i got tested for chlamydia, the treatment was eyelid hygiene, warm compresses and short courses of antibiotic-steroid ointment; i never got better, more glands blocked and inflammation instead. Only treatment left is oral antibiotic i guess. I have used doxycycline before but i cant finish the treatment because of gastric side effects and eyelid irritation.
Avatar f tn THE most common thing this could be is a third eyelid infection or cherry eye. This is if the growth or bump is on the inside corner. On the outside of the eye this could be an eyelid gland cyst and again - common. They don't need a biopsy. Treatment of cherry eye is very straightforward and consists of surgically repositioning the gland.
Avatar m tn Also, think I have slight infection of the eyelid on the inside of the eyelid as my eye worked at 20/40 when I was taking a Z pack for a sinus infection, then eyelid swelled and became droopy after Z pak finished with a small sty in corner of the eye with yellow white opaque discharge which was very small with eyesight becoming 20/100. Any thoughts?? Thanks for your help. Michele T..
Avatar m tn I have pus coming out of a meibomian gland opening and a bit of the tarsal conjunctiva in my upper eyelid near the nasal side for almost a week now. I guess it must be an infection but I also have a chalazion-like lump at the same site of the infection.
Avatar f tn Quite a few weeks ago my lower eyelid was puffy and sore, feeling a bit like it was bruised. Now it feels fine, except a bit of itching now and then and my eyelashes near the area are turned toward my eye probably because of the slight bulge where the infection is. There is a ball type feel to it on the outside and the inside of the eyelid has a light shape to it, like a healing sore. Recently I had an eye doctor visit and was told it was a staph infection.
Avatar f tn If it's neurological there shouldn't be any actual swelling of the eyelid involved, hmmm if the eyelid is swollen then it 'could' make the eyelid just look like it's drooping down, have you seen your GP about it yet? As aspen mentioned it could be an infection or even a reaction bug bite on the eyelid, if it's been a few days and it's still swollen it'd be worth getting your GP to check it out. Hope that helps....
Avatar f tn I thought it was just allergies since i have terrible allergies when spring comes, or probaly from me playing with my dog and touching my eye. But this morning as i rubbed it to stop the itch, my eye felt weird. I looked in the mirror and notice the corner is a little swollen. Also i notice when i pull down my eyelid i see like this idk what to call it i think its part of the eyelid that holds the eye, it is also a little swollen . . .
Avatar n tn No way to tell for sure but the most common thing tha would cause this is infection of an eyelid oil gland called a stye. This is usually treated with warm compresses and antibiotic eye drops prescribed by an Eye MD ophthalmologist. Try and get in to see an Eye MD or have your family doctor arrange a consult.
408662 tn?1210650733 concerned with my little dogs eyelid that is pink all around the one eye. There is black hard stuff that I need to scrap off the corner of her eye every once in a while. What can it be? Remedy?
Avatar m tn After i was injected triamcinolone acetonide in one chalazion in my upper eyelid a year and a half ago, infection spread to my lower eyelid and conjunctiva. Since then I have been using several antibiotics with little help: ofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, monofloxacin, fusicid acid, chlortetracycline... Also anti-inflamatory drugs like Tobradex and FML which help reduce inflamation but not treat the cause.

Avatar f tn Thanks for your post, i actually just got exactly what you are describing and am hoping this will help. But i am wondering how long it took to go away and if it has happened to you again. Or if you ended up going to see a doctor instead.

Avatar n tn First I am a contact lens wearer. I noticed a stye like bump on my left lower eyelid last week that "popped" overnight releasing a white puss. Seemed to have completely gone away. this morning i woke to a very sore left eye but didn't see anything. it hurts to touch the lower eyelid and when i flip the lid, there is a white spot with the rest of the inner lid being very red. It also hurts to touch the eyelid and to blink....
1440587 tn?1284040516 Starting two days ago my right eyelid was hurting a a little swollen. It has gotten more painful and much more swollen since then. If I flip my eyelid up it is very very red and it looked almost like a little red bump underneath - that was yesterday. Today it is so swollen I can't even flip the eyelid up. I called the eye dr and he can't fit me in today. What could it be? What should I do? I took benadryl last night thinking it may be an allergy but it didnt help at all.
Avatar m tn My inability to keep the area clean now caused the infection I described of above. Now I have an infection related bump in the middle of my eyelid and the first bump on the corner of my eye from physical injury. I don't want to consulate a specialist unless I need to.
1737159 tn?1316672635 hi, my son is admitted right now in the hospital because the upper right eyelid of his eye is swelling so bad,. It started as a small reddish bite last saturday which I suspect was an insect bite, I just disregarded it but it grew big until wednesday, I went to see his pedia and it was already cellulitis, he was given an antibiotic (amoclav) which I expect would help the swelling but the swelling became bigger and bigger.
Avatar n tn A stye is an infection of the sebaceous glands at the base of the eyelashes and are generally caused by a Staphylococcus aureus bacteria infection.A chalazion is a cyst in the eyelid that is caused by inflammation of a blocked meibomian gland, usually on the upper eyelid. Chalazions differ from styes in that they are usually painless apart from the tenderness caused when they swell up, and in size (chalazia tend to be larger than styes).
