Avatar f tn She most likely has a kidney infection, which can come from the bloodstream as in flu, or is a result of a urinary tract infection from pool water, or possibly losing her balance and bumping her back where the kidneys are. I think, tho, since she had a fever, it's most likely a kidney infection. The docs at the ER would have noticed, by the way, if she had a bruising on her back, so I do not think she has ruptured her kidneys or anything.
Avatar n tn only to find out I had a burst ovarian cyst that was the probable cause to a large colon infection. I was treated by IV for pain and antibiotics, given prescriptions and I followed up with my personal MD. I am concerned about a relapse. I had my menstrual cycle 5 days after the cyst was diagnosed, and I had to take a prescription pain med to get over the burning pain in the ovarian area. I was doubled over in pain and vomiting from it.
1501080 tn?1289351054 I was diagnosed with colon cancer in Sept 2010 and it has been a whirlwind of activity since. They have removed most of my large intestine with some major reconstruction I did not end up with a colostomy but they did leave the wound open with a wound vac to help with healing. About 2 weeks in and I developed an infection pocket they have given me antibiotics for 2 weeks but still there. So as of tomorrow they are taking me back in to clean out and irrigate unless something else needs to be done.
Avatar n tn Hopefully this will work, but I have been ill for about a month already through all the testing and follow up with my kidney infection. I even gave a stool sample and came back negative for C.Diff. Plus, I am in so much pain but the doctors dont want me to take pain meds for this. Does anyone know what kind of damage, if any, can be caused by C.Diff?? Permanent damage?
Avatar f tn I saw a doctor and doctor gave medicine and told if the blood stops with the dysentry, then it is a water-borne bacterial infection otherwise it could be something else. But it got cured in few days. But now i again see blood in my stool. I think it happens because of water from a nearby hotel of our room. I stay with my friends in a flat and take our dinner outside in a hotel nearby. But all my friends also drink that water and they dont complain anything such.
Avatar f tn To exclude means to rule something out. Before saying you have Crohn's/UC, the docs want to exclude (rule out) the chance that it's really something else. If you have an infection/parasite, then that's probably what's making you sick ... not Crohns/UC (which are more like disorders of the immune system ... though if you were REALLY unlucky you could have an infection on top of Crohn's/UC.).
Avatar m tn histolytica in my stool analysis, and increased bronchovascular lines in my lungs they were convinced that I had a lung infection when i had to pain in my chest or trouble breathing.
Avatar n tn I have had most of my colon removed, from a C-diff infection. I had the ostomy removed, because it was extremely painful. Now I'm living with only 1 1/2 feet of colon. I eat, gotta go, I drink, gotta go.
Avatar n tn Low intrinsic factor in gut that hampers absorption of B12, pernicious anemia, parasites in the gut, diet poor in Vit B12, Crohn;s disease, IBS, or poor metabolism by liver are the causes behind it. Please consult a doctor to rule these out. Take a diet rich in Vit B12 which should include meat and animal products, cheese, such as beef, liver, salmon, cod, and eggs. Take B12 supplements and breakfast cereals fortified with vitamin B12. Finding the cause is important.

Avatar f tn Good Day, My father ( 62 years) was recently admitted to a hospital for a perforation in the colon. They have since then done surgery and removed a part of the colon that was effected. He has been in hospital for 7 days. We saw an improvement but today his abdomen is swollen and the wound is bleeding a bit. He has also not passed anything through the bag that they put on the side of him. I am also very concerned about this.
Avatar f tn If your blood test and ultrasonogram do not reveal anything you may have to go for a colonoscopy and urine analysis. In colonoscopy the entire colon can be visualized and studies the inside lining of the intestines. In the meantime, you can get some good organic yogurt and take it with your meals. Regards.
407591 tn?1202337576 I found a lump about a month ago and it was about the size of a large marble.....no infections, been on the same meds for a long time, no allergies. Now the lump is almost the size of a golf ball. It is located in the left arm 3" from the center of the arm pit. It tends to make my left hand get numb and my arm often hurts. My grandfather has colon cancer and my mom had breast cancer. I am 34 yrs old and have not had any trauma or infection of any type.
Avatar n tn Incidentally noted a small calcification in the liver most likely remote granuloma. Also several mobile nonshadowing gallstones. There are no changes of cholecystitis." Avatar n tn I had a Doctor and he check my cholestorel and had several blood works done but he said I had a ovary or colon infection. Does that mean that the pain is from that infection or does the pain from gallbladder still returns after. I am confused , where should I go. Avatar m tn I have diarrhoea third day with pains in rectum.Pills for stopping it I only took yesterday seemed to work until the evening, then it began again. But what scares me most is pain which comes in waves and is sometimes excrutiating. It hurts in the area of rectum and somewhere around my lower back. I passed no blood. The pain is worst in the evening, as if something inside my rectum was pushing itself up the colum. and the pain in lower back seems to be more persistent, dull but continuous.
Avatar n tn It appears that cancer that started in the colon has probably punched through the colon wall and spread to the liver. Calcification on the liver generally indicates calcium has formed in areas affected by past infection or injury, typically to protect the area from further damage. A malignant tumor with liver calcification may require advanced or invasive treatment. Surgery to remove a mass or radiation therapy may be an option for calcification on the liver caused by a malignant tumor.
Avatar n tn I've done some reading and you can get HSV in the rectum and possibly the colon, very rare (colon) however I have had UC (ulcerated colitis) for 6 years and my doc says it's just my immune system out of wack. If I get a cold sore and take Valtrex my stool become less painful. Right now, I have bloody skin, skinny stools and pain! when I go to the bathroom, this is nothing new for me. It's been 6 years!
140029 tn?1393298142 Not sure if antibiotics are the cause. Normally if an infection is present, and that can result with WBCs consistently in the stool, it would show up in the cultures. Regarding the CDiff, Flagyl is the appropriate drug if that was the case. You have clearly had a comprehensive evaluation, including multiple endoscopies and imaging scans. Most of the serious GI causes would have been excluded.
Avatar n tn Hi there. I am a 29 year old female. Since 6 months I am having an on and off pain in my lower left abdomen. I went to see the gynecologist and she said that the pain has nothing to do with my reproductive system so I went to see a gastroenterologist and she told me that I need to have a colonoscopy done. I have been on antibiotics on and off the last 4 month because of a very bad root canal infection and I am afraid that I have developed a type of colitis or diverticulitis.
Avatar n tn Hi, some heart conditions, like atrial fibrillation can throw out emboli which can get lodged in blood vessels of the colon and cause ischemia. So, it depends on the heart condition. The other common cause are atherosclerosis and it can also occur due to certain medications like chemotherapy. Ischemic colitis may heal on its own and it can recur. But you may need medication to treat or prevent infection, or surgery if your colon has been damaged.
