Common Questions and Answers about Infection at urethra

infection

Avatar m tn You had a risk, you had sex in which there was a chance that vaginal fluids entered. I could lie to you and say no but the reality is that there is a chance. Get tested at 6 weeks if you feel the need or wait for 3 months for a conclusive result. Good luck.
Avatar m tn After the cystoscopy I passed some blood and felt soreness all the way through my urethra. I was told by thedoc that the prostate had returned to its normal size and that there was no longer any infection and that I did not require antibiotic intervention. However since my urethra has been stinging and I ininially put that down to the cystoscopy, but a recent test today showed the presence of 5,000 cfu/ml of ecoli?
Avatar m tn After ejaculating I went to urinate, when I felt a painful burning as I was urinating. Ever since, I have have a burning sensation in the tip or my urethra. I do not have cloudy, smelling, or discolored urine, my penis does not have any bumps or discoloration, and it occasionally burns when I urinate, but not always. It is just this annoying burning pain in the tip of my urethra. When my boxers or pants catch it the wrong way it can cause very irritating pain. What could this be?
Avatar n tn If you are passing different-shaped clots in your stream, they could represent bleeding from the urethra or prostate (in men). Clots can be wormlike, and if associated with pain it could represent clots coming from your ureters(tubes from your kidneys to your bladder). When the blood in the urine is at the beginning of urination, it most likely comes from the urethra, (the tube from the bladder to the outside).
Avatar m tn For the past week and a half I've had a stinging sensation in my urethra at the tip of my penis. It comes and goes but it's definitely sore. No discharge and it doesn't burn when I pee (actually peeing relieves it a bit), although it was sore after an orgasm yesterday. No visual symptoms. I initially noticed it when soaping up my groin area in the shower. Washed the soap away and the pain was gone, but it keeps coming and going ever sense.
Avatar m tn I'm a 27 y/o male. 5.5 months ago, had unprotected oral and vaginal sex with a female I met at a bar. No unprotected sex since. Nothing "showed up", so I thought nothing of it. 3 weeks ago, I noticed smegma (I'm uncircumcised), and had strange smelling urine/semen (asparagus-y). Used lamisil topically, which has seemed to help. Got tested for STDs just to be safe 11 days ago, and the free clinic still doesn't have results.
Avatar m tn Hi, your correct that interior urethra herpes would be painful and outbreaks there are most often from someone who already has herpes as is called recurrent. Inside the urethra is not a place for first time outbreaks to occur as are from point of contact like the shaft area. What could cause what your describing is from you attempting to ease the itching by squeezing the head area to much.
Avatar m tn It is also possible that you have an infection or irritattion of the urethra. There are creams and medications which help if an infection of the urethra has been diagnosed, however you having used a condom, infection is unlikely. There fore I believe that the condom is the cause. I myself have only once had an infection of the urethra. There was extreme burning and itching of the urethra, with the meatus having swolen up. In my case it happened about two days after having had a cystoscopy.
Avatar n tn since then every once in a while (more likely after masturbation) it seems that I have felt a slight itching at the top of my urethra to maybe max an inch down inside... i also feel as if there is an itchiness when i masturbate if any semen gets in my foreskin (I'm uncircumcised), almost like the semen itself makes me itchy I have not seen a rash or anything I have no had any discharge or anything else that would lead me to believe it is syphilis or gonorrhea (done some research)...
Avatar m tn However, you have said that both condoms remained intact throughout intercourse, therefore you were not at risk of HIV infection. And in anycase the symptoms you have desctibed are not indicitive of HIV infection and even if they were they would not have manifested within 48Hrs. Bottom line: You didn't have a risk.
Avatar m tn If I had engaged for a longer period of time would I be more at risk, and also, does infection enter through the urethra or glans or shaft? Different sources seem to say different things. I have no symptoms, just worrying myself sick as I am in a relationship and made a bad judgement call here...
Avatar n tn 36 hrs later some discomfort/slight burn to the touch at the front tip of penis between the y of flesh at front(iam circumsized)and urethra opening. no other symptoms althought i feel like i have a cold. no discharge, burning pee, blood, spots, lesions. only discomfort at the 1.5 cm area . its now about 3.5 days and still have the discomfort. getting worried even though i kept condom on until hj.
Avatar n tn It has been about a week and a half later and my penis has started back itching at the tip and upper urethra, it also burns slightly now and again when i urinate. The discharge is no longer there. I am worried, does this mean that the antibiotics did not cure the infection and it is re emerging??
Avatar n tn s or urethral infection samples are beset taken from first catch. If you have an infection in the urethra, the mid stream urine will have cleared out most of the bacteria and make the sample weak. Furthermore, you want to give only 10-20ml. Look at the sample bottle and you will see that it's a very small amount. You want to make sure any bacteria is concentrated in the sample and not diluted by giving a full cup.
Avatar n tn s, she can put a glob of neosporin at the entrance of the urethra and it will help to prevent bacteria from entering the urethra during sex (it helps to double as a lubricant during intercourse so you get a 2 for 1 - not a bad deal) 2) her doctor can prescribe an antibiotic that she can take right after intercourse (just one pill, he'll giver her a bottle but she'll just take one, its very low dose, and this will help as well) =================================== Before all of this thoug
Avatar m tn Inside of your urethra is red as is full of blood and like i said, urethra herpes would not be from a first time infection. Understanding how herpes works helps. It need to have skin contact to be contracted and the inside of your urethra cannot make direct skin contact with the outside layers of the persons vagina it would only be a recurrent outbreak and its not common for that either.
Avatar f tn Female, 51. Started having a burning sensation and redness on the vulva right outside of the vagina two months ago. GYN did a test and said I had bacterial vaginosis (though no discharge or odor). Went through two different creams/ointments and an antibiotic pill and a biopsy of the red area. Came back as "chronic inflammation" and the BV test was still coming back positive. Now I'm on several weeks of premarin cream because the doc thinks I'm low on estrogen.
Avatar n tn The symptoms that I had were some burning discomfort at the end of my urethra, especially after I urinated, but no discharge. The doctor who examined me said it looked like the opening of the urethra looked slightly inflamed and gave me 1000mg of azithromicin. He said there a several types of bacteria that live in the mouth that could cause an infection, was a possible cause of my discomfort, and the antibiotic will knock it out.
Avatar m tn IT SEEMS THAT WHAT YOU HAVE IS CHRONIC URETHRITIS NOW AND IT IS UNLIKELY THAT THERE IS AN ACTUAL INFECTION IN YOUR URETHRA FTER SO MANY ANTIBIOTICS AND NEGATIVE TEST RESULTS. IT IS MAINLY RESIDUAL INFLAMMATION SECONDARY TO AN ALREADY TREATED INFECTION AND TENDS TO BE IRRITATED BY THE URINE. THESE USUALLY CLEAR AFTER TIME. HOWEVER ANTI-INFLAMMATORIES, TOGETHER WITH ALKALYNISING URINE AGENTS CAN HELP WITH THE SYMPTOMS.
Avatar f tn Can anyone help?
Avatar n tn In April 2008, I started to feel pain in my testicles From April to mid October I felt a non-stop light burning in my urethra, and a light testicle pain at all times. At the end of October, I started to urinate very often, and I received a pain in my bladder, and the burning sensation in my urethra became stronger. The pain in my testicles also increased, and I had a strong pain in my prostate gland. It was driving me crazy, and I didn’t’ know what to do.
