The fact that your chest sounds clear, a normal chest xray since the episode of pneumonia, and normal spirometry, are all things that make something significant in your lungs unlikely.
Chronic cough as you describe is more likely caused by either post nasal drip (caused by allergies or chronic sinus problems), or esophageal reflux, since your lungs look and sound good. Both of these can be worse when lying down.

the cough seems to get worse at night with the cold air and there is sometimes a rattle in my chest when I breathe. The doctor did a lung test (I had to breathe really hard into a machine) and the results were normal. He said if the antibiotics didn't work to go in for a follow-up exam, but he didn't seem to know what was wrong with me. I have another appointment to see him in a couple of days but I'm worried because he doesn't seem to know what I have. Can anyone help me?
Giving meds to reduce fever and discomfort and making sure your baby stays well hydrated will help with fever and make her feel a little more comfortable. Also using cool (not cold) sponge baths will help with comfort also and may help reduce the fever.
Before giving ANY meds, it's important to check with your pediatrician or pharmacist - depending on her age, you may or may not be able to give her these types of meds.

I don't know if it's also called an echo or something else when you go to the Dr and they run this gun around your belly to take pictures of the infant inside the womb.... I took oral antibiotics and the follow up xray showed complete resolution and concluded clear lungs. However I still feel a rattle and grating on the left side of my chest when I inhale deeply, I only feel this when lying down, doctors have not been able to hear it. I have seen a pulmonologist who sent me for a CT scan which showed no abnormality, sprirometry which was completely normal and CBC which was completely normal.
Your persistent symptoms, of productive cough, congested chest and "rattle in one lung", are not typical of asthma. These symptoms are much more suggestive of incompletely resolved pneumonia. A lung infection can trigger asthma but the symptoms of asthma are never limited to one lung, and failure of pneumonia to resolve always warrants further investigation.
You should have another follow-up x-ray, now.

Since yesterday I have had a weird feeling in my chest. I don't think it's my heart palpitating, but then again I'm not sure. I have been kind of freaked out because it feels as though something is rattling around and then I feel like I can't catch my breath real good (not sure if that part is just in my head). (Please forgive the lengthiness of this), I have undergone many tests in hopes of finding a cause for my symptoms. I had a spirometry exactly a year ago. No evidence of restrictive or obstructive lung disease (hallelujah!) but it was noted that I had some curvature indicating "minimal upper airway disease". It certainly doesn't feel minimal and I'm concerned about having or developing a type of chronic bronchitis.
Did the doctor examine your daughter's throat and chest?

do they say they hear actual wheezing in his chest? Or is it that mucousy rattle deep in the throat that makes that gurgle? Has he or is he on asthma meds such as Albuterol, or steroids through a nebulizer or inahled or via mouth at all?
Has he been hospitalized for the wheezing?
I'm not a Dr .. just a mom like you, and I've heard that term replied to children who have some wheezing but with no defined reason for it ..
