1969477 tn?1327548419 The indoor play yards where the dogs go to the bathroom are mopped regularly with a very strong industrial bleach solution that burns all of our eyes terribly & makes all of the dogs go into sneezing fits. I have recently been feeling short of breath easily fatigued & have had several serious dizzy spells that made me unable to function. Could these symptoms be related to inhaling these bleach (& ammonia from the urine) fumes?
Avatar f tn It sounds like you may have a urea cycle disorder, which involves a deficiency of one of six enzymes in the liver which transfer ammonia from the blood into a harmless substance. An untreated urea cycle disorder results in elevations of ammonia, which in turn causes changes in the brain, causing brain swelling, seizures, coma, and death. For someone who has recovered from the hyperammonemia, residua of damage affects cognitive function.

152660 tn?1291755571 Lucy has been using an area of my carpet for a litter box. I steam cleaned the carpet last weekend and it seems to just have spread it around. She's been trying to bury an area of about 6 square feet- pretty much the entire area I cleaned. I'm going to do it again this weekend and got an enzyme cleaner from the industrial cleaning place here in town- I can't find any of the stuff we've talked about on here. It should be a much better cleaner than what I used.
Avatar f tn No, fish oil needs no refrigeration if it's in gel caps. It's the flax seed oil that needs the refrigeration.

Avatar n tn Hi there, Tammy is right. But, specifically the guidance says "Room temperature storage up to 30 days, if refrigeration is unavailable" Note: if refrigeration is unavailable Personally, I feel this does not include varying room temperatures and I would not advise anyone to leave it out in hi (hot) temperatures. But, that's my personal opinion. Would only feel comfortable to do something like that if I knew the temperatures at which the forumula/medicine would change.
10064121 tn?1415176073 The lactation specialist at my hospital said it's good for 12 hours no refrigeration. 36 hours refrigeration. 1 month in the door of a normal freezer. 3 months in a deep freeze.
Avatar n tn yep I've gotten good results with fem dophilis myself. also now refresh proB is available in many drug stores and it has the same types of "good" bacteria in it too. even when probiotics say they don't need refrigeration, still a good idea to throw them in the fridge so they stay more potent longer.
Avatar f tn After refrigeration, if my baby does not finish all the breastmilk, how long is it good for at room temp???
Avatar f tn I did per blood but afterwards I was dripping blood and when I wiped it was pure blood, so much like I was on a heavy cycle. I did feel the urge to urinate a lot. My symptoms just disappeared after 2 days of this. My urine smells bad of ammonia for months now. Just not sure if it's a UTI or what. I had no pain other than burning.
4862546 tn?1360241703 In patients with decompensated cirrhosis and hepatic encephalopathy (HE) Lactulose/Kristalose is the first line of treatment after the elimination of red meat protein from the diet, which during digestion produces high levels of ammonia and other toxins. Kristalose can be mixed in plain water and has almost no flavor. Mix it in juices and you will never taste it. Kristalose is manufactured by Cumberland Pharmaceuticals Inc., Nashville, TN.
Avatar n tn The only value that is not within norms is ammonia. Only in the final stage of liver disease does ammonia levels become an issue from liver disease. Higher than norm ammonia levels can be caused by many illnesses besides liver disease. - Congestive heart failure Gastrointestinal bleeding - usually in the upper GI tract Genetic diseases of the urea cycle Hyperthermia Leukemia Liver failure Muscle exertion Your previous doctor treated you for 29 weeks and you never became undetectable?
219241 tn?1413537765 s FDA) say that it should be refrigerated too. Australia is the only country to decide that refrigeration is the best way to store under 25 C. (77 F) There are many arguments about whether this correct. It is a hormone, a very sensitive one so it makes sense to me. I know that we are about to get 'blister packs' which will be much better for dispersing and avoiding condensation problems from in and out of fridge, and contamination from handling.

Avatar f tn I'm 6 weeks pregnant and I work in a paint department. I mix colors and clean up paint pretty much. Since I've worked there we have always used glass cleaner to clean the paint off the desk and our hands. I didnt know this until today but the cleaner we use has ammonia in it. I've been using it every day for a few months to get the paint off of my hands. Could it have hurt my baby?
Avatar n tn We discovered that my husband had an episode of Encephalopathy, which is high ammonia in the blood. But by the time we had his blood checked his levels were right smack in the middle of the range. Doctor said he was fine. So my question is can this ammonia gone untreated continue to rise and lower on its own. Because he has days that he seems fine and then days when he is not with me completely. He does not eat much as his taste buds are totally out of wack. Most foods taste very salty.
Avatar f tn I recently found out I had high ammonia, it was 66, I am taking lactalose and it is is now normal. All my blood work is within normal ranges on my liver function test and I also had a sonogram, have a mild fatty liver. Was wondering what could have caused this. I do drink a few beers a night.
374593 tn?1257879950 If you are heading to a hotel, let them know that you have medication that needs refrigeration. If they ask, tell them its insulin (they don't need to know...) and most places will provide you a mini fridge free of cost. Hope this helps!
Avatar n tn Patients with liver disease are unable to process or detoxify ammonia so that ammonia levels can reach dangerously high levels. This is coupled by increased ammonia production of colonic bacteria, especially if one is constipated or has an irregular bowel movement. High protein intake can also lead to an incresed ammonia production. I suggest you talk about these possibilities with your doctors.
190885 tn?1333025891 I am assuming you have cirrhosis? (I have a list of cirrhotics but I know it doesn't include everyone with cirrhosis here). Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) and brain fog are two different conditions. "Brain fog" has nothing to do with ammonia levels. Most ammonia in the body forms when protein is broken down by bacteria in the intestines. The liver normally converts ammonia into urea, which is then eliminated in urine.
Avatar m tn Ammonia odor can be associated with H. pylori. Ammonia can also be associated with urine and fecal material and not due to H. pylori.
Avatar n tn Yes it does. High levels of ammonia cause hepatic encephalopathy which in turn can cause confusion, sleepiness and forgetfulness. There are medications to help lower those levels. Speak to your hep doc.
