Index finger tingling

Common Questions and Answers about Index finger tingling

finger

In conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome there is tingling in hand which may be accompanied by pain and stiffness of wrist and fingers. Trigger finger can also lead to pain in index finger, knuckle and other hand parts. This occurs after repeated trauma to the sheath over the knuckle and tendon. There is inability to bend the index finger and straighten it back. You may take an over the counter anti-inflammatory medicine, such as naproxen for pain relief.
The index finger of my left hand twitches on occassion. i have a bit of tingling in my left palm as well. What could be the reason for this twitch? Thanks, This discussion is related to Finger twitching and parkinsons, MS, neurological disorder, cardiovascular.
Even when I exercise the index finger starts tingling. Its really weird this has never happened to me before. Can you help? I'm not sure if its serious enough to see a doctor. Thanks for your help in advance.
i sliced my index finger about 5 days ago with a steak knife. i cut from the second knuckle down vertically around to the other side. I was told i cut to the bone but they said they didnt see any nerve damage. My finger feels very tight and i cannot stretch it or straighten it out. When i try it stays tight. I have a numbess tingling sensation in the tip of my finger and cannot feel nearly anything at all when i touch anything. Such as water or swipping finger across my skin.
It has been 10 days and the numbness/tingling of the index finger has not gone away from the finger tip and the right side of the finger. I also had some wrist pain as a result of the tiling process. Should I consult a doctor or will the numbness dissipate with time?
i am 40 years old, female, since 1month i started having a tremor in right index finger, it started off as very prominent tremor, i had lot of stress and muscle fatigue at the time, now the intensity is decreased but still present, waxes and wanes, i was working a lot, writing, and using my fingers and hands alot in the last 4 months, i delivered a baby in december, i have symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome with numbness in the first 31/2 fingers in the night while sleeping, relieved when i wake
i have had numbness, tingling , and at times small shocking feelings in my index finger and middle finger on my left hand from the nuckle up to the tip of my fingers.in certain positions it sort of hurts. what could be causing this? it has been going on for several weeks and did not accompany a injury. i am a nurse an do alot of physical work but again, no injury.
I notice that occasionally when I eat something bad (chips, hamburger, etc) my right index finger will start to go slightly numb and go back to normal maybe 30 minutes later. This has been going on for at least a year if not years. Is it possible that all my years of bad eating and my current potato chip vice has caused this? That would be horrible as I'm trying to live a very healthy lifestyle and to have something this stupid derail that is bothering me. Please help!
I have a similar problem rt side..radial nerve is compressed..maybe at foramen..could be stenosis..try pt, muscle relaxer, traction..if no help get a cervical mri..
Hi, i've been having numbness and tingling in my right index and middle finger for about a week or so now. I've also noticed that my arm goes weak when I try to hold things (like a fork to eat or a cup of coffee) or when I write or type. I have to stop and shake my hand. The symptoms do not wake me up at night. I have worn a wrist brace on that hand for years and lately have worn it very tightly to avoid pain.
Hi, First, if these symptoms are at left side then it may be a heart condition like angina, peripheral vascular disorder (circulatory disorder) or may be gastritis, however these conditions need ruling out with the help of a doctor. Additionally, It may be associated with nerve impingement (after injury/compression) at arm or hand. Please consult a neurologist for a complete assessment and appropriate treatment details after the diagnosis. Hope this helps.
(Apologies if this is in the wrong forum) I have been experiencing sporadic pins and needles/tingling in the thumb and sometimes index finger of my right hand for the past few weeks although it has become much more common over the past week. The tingling usually starts in the thumb before sometimes spreading to the index finger and down the thumb towards the wrist.
I also notice the same numbness whenenever I ride my bike after 20 minutes or so. There also is a rash (?) on my index finger than resembles eczema on the backside of the finger and just dry dead skin on the side and palmside of the finger. What could be causing this? What should I do? I do not experience the same numbness with my left hand at all!!
I have been experiencing involuntary twitching in my left index finger for the past year and half. The frequency of the twitching has greatly increased over the the last month to the point that it has become very annoying. I also have a herniated disc in my neck at c7/T1, T2/3. I have previously had a fusion at c3/4,4/5,5/6. Is it possible that the disc herniation is causing the twitching in my finger?
I'm having the same problem. It started about 3 or 4 months ago. I don't know what is causing this. It's scary as i watch this finger go from white to blue because it was getting no circulation....It had a tingling sensation like what you get when your foot falls asleep. I hope you get your answer and post it back on here. by the way I'm 37 year old woman, I work out and eat somewhat healthy, i'm 5'3 and weigh 123. I can't think of why this happens or who i have to consult about this.
I am a 33yr old male who has had a tingly/numb sensation (sometimes it feels like when your armd or hand falls asleep and then wakes up) in my left thumb and index finger for the past 15 days. At first I thought it was from using a electric vibrating sander, but I only used it for a woodworking project during a 3/4 day period, and not more than 4-5 hrs a day. I have no other pain in my hand, wrist or arm. I have no idea what is causing this at all.
Hi, I have been having painless twitching between my thumb and index finger for over 30 days. I can see it clearly under the skin. I am very concerned. I have convinced myself I have ALS. I do not think I am experiencing muscle weakness. My right hand for years has been a little sore that does seem to getting worse. For example, was sore while tying my son's skates at hockey.
I have just started getting this burning sensation, like I just touched something hot, in the tips of my thumb, index finger and middle finger. The worsens when I close my hand tightly but gets better if I soak it in water. What could be causing this?
That seemed to relieve it for a period, but soon after my index finger on the right hand became numb and the tingling moved throughout my arm to the very top. Years ago I had a car accident and I was told that my 5 and 6 vertebrae was damaged. I have since been o my GP the to physio and then for accupuncture. Non of these have given me relief. It is two months of numbness now and I am at a loss.
I am 43, male and run marathons / half marathons. I also have numbness/tingling in my left index finger. My elbow is sore as well from some hard gardening work 2 weeks ago. I thought this might be carpal tunnel syndrome, but using a gel mouse pad (I work with computers) has not helped. My forearm muscles have also been jumping a bit, but interestingly 2 years ago I suffered a pinched nerve in my neck (severe neck spasm) which resulted in incredible pain down my left arm for 2 or 3 months.
I'm in good shape and work out quite a bit. A couple of days back, I noticed a funny feeling in my right index finger when I rubbed it. It was a tingling sensation like I'd hit the proverbial funny bone, only on my finger, and soon I started noticing a little numbness on one side of that finger. I can feel everything fine using the finger, just not as well as the other one. Is this a cause for concern and should anything be done about this?
After throwing a baseball, over 1 week ago, for the 1st time in years, I have had pain, inflammation, and "that sleepy tingly feeling" from my shoulder to my thumb/index finger. When I rotate my elbow above my shoulder, when writing, or when walking, my entire arm will instantly "go to sleep". I saw the doctor last Wednesday and got some Vimovo and an ice pack. It's not getting any better.
Hi my name is John, I am 23 years old. My index finger on my left hand has be "asleep" for two days now. It is not numb or hurting but it is tingling like its asleep. It is starting to make me a bit nervous because i dont know if it something serious or not. I dont remember bumping or hitting it on anything so I dont really know why or what may have caused it. ANY information would be GREATLY appreciated...
There is little to no numbness. The ring finger is the same as well. But my middle finger, index finger and thumb are definitely numb and slightly swollen. My index finger, though, is the only finger experiencing some pain along with the numbness and swelling. Things to note: I did not bang my elbow on anything.
The pain in my upper back/lower neck came back really bad, as did the numbness in my index finger and tip of my right thumb. Turning my head does not seem to help. Doctor prescribed Vicodin and muscle relaxers, plus physical therapy. Since this is an HMO (Kaiser), Physical therapy was 6 weeks out. I went to a Chiropactor while waiting on PT. The Chiropractor took xrays and said my disc at one level (lower C or upper T?) was very narrow and told me there was nothing he could do.
Numbness in tips of thumb, index finger, and sort of middle finger. Ibuprofen and Naprosyn didn't touch the pain. Neither hot nor cold helped. Went to the MD and the xrays show the disk spaces are ok. The MD diagnosed it as cervical myalgia and prescribed Ultram for the pain and made a referral to physical therapy. The thinking is it will resolve on its own, but PT would help "move it along.
