Often, thyroid problems can cause carpal tunnel syndrome, which causes pain, burning and numbness in the thumb and fingers. With CTS, the thumb,
index, and middle fingers are affected. Also, the
ring finger can be affected all around, but often it's just the side of the ring finger closest to the middle finger that is affected. The pinky is not affected at all.
