I am a 56 years old female and in relatively good health. I take one medication for hbp. Recently the middle joints of my little fingers are very tender, red and tend to be very itchy, if that makes any sense and I've also begun noticing some tiny red nodules at the first joint of my index fingers and little fingers. Some times the nodules are a little more pronouced than other times.

Hello Dr.Santos, Actually the finger that was painful the other day is okay. I mentioned that my index finger was hurting on my left hand to my chiropractor during my regular biweekly adjustment. She gave me an adjustment on the inside of my elbow, she said it was connected to my index finger. After the adjustment, my index finger doesn't hurt any more. However, I do have pain sometimes on several fingers of my right hand, not today though.

There are also techniques like tapping on your fingers. With the index finger tap the index finger on the other hand and a few times and move on to tapping the other fingers. Hope that helps. Best wishes.

My left index finger developed a strange twitch stop and starts again been maybe almost 2 months now.....it's really annoying so i sometimes turn my hand into a fist so i wouldn't get that twitch again...i work all day in front of a computer for over ten yrs now...and don't know if it's due to the way i position my hand on the desk...or it's a sign of something more serious.. i'm right handed, by the way.

On my left hand, my index finger is longer than my middle finger, my ring finger is shorter than my middle finger. On my left had, my middle finger is shorter than both other fingers (ring & middle). It's nver caused any problems but I've always wondered why my Mom & I had it.

It started with my index finger having spasms, and then moved to in between my middle finger and pointer finger knuckle. It now is deblilitating my pinkie and ring finger and causing some minor pain in the outside part of my wrist. With my hand straight out I cannot I cannot put my pinkie or ring finger together and I cannot get my ring finger together with my middle finger. Any thoughts? I have attached a pic of how close I can get my fingers together. I am 32 and relatively healthy.

can a pinched radial nerve in c1 and c2 area cause a swelling in the index finger of the left hand ?

There is little to no numbness. The ring finger is the same as well. But my middle finger, index finger and thumb are definitely numb and slightly swollen. My index finger, though, is the only finger experiencing some pain along with the numbness and swelling. Things to note: I did not bang my elbow on anything.

I took a puck off of my right index finger and didn't really notice any immediate pain. Over the next couple days I noticed that I couldn't form a fist because my finger was very swollen and hurt to bend that far. Upon further observation I noticed that my first finger knuckle had become very wide, but the rest of my finger remained regular size. It is also very sensitive to touch.

Back in March I was holding a little girl that was standing on my lap and she lost her balance and squatted down. My hand was behind her knee and my right index finger popped and then hurt really bad for awhile. I assumed it would go away and it didn't. A few days later I went to urgent care. I cut the knuckle of my R index finger on a deli/meat slicer 2 days ago, The ER dr said I had a layer of fat over the muscle left over the bone & that was it. I got 12 stitches. Arthritis?? Have skiers thumb for about a month. Woke up in morning and index finger on my dominant right hand was swollen and painful when bending.
