index finger problem

I took a puck off of my right index finger and didn't really notice any immediate pain. Over the next couple days I noticed that I couldn't form a fist because my finger was very swollen and hurt to bend that far. Upon further observation I noticed that my first finger knuckle had become very wide, but the rest of my finger remained regular size. It is also very sensitive to touch.

On my left hand, my index finger is longer than my middle finger, my ring finger is shorter than my middle finger. On my left had, my middle finger is shorter than both other fingers (ring & middle). It's nver caused any problems but I've always wondered why my Mom & I had it.

What could cause my index finger to be numb and tingle when touching the joint of the finger?

I have this problem, burning pain between index finger and 2nd finger. I cannot clench my fist unless I straighten index finger then I can make fist with the other three. I have never heard of this before, so if you have no answer I will have to goto.

The other probelm is a pain flowing down to my right hand index finger from my shoulder and a sense of heaviness around my gallbladder area. Any suggestions?

My father received acupuncture in Oct - Nov 07. After his third week of treatment, his right index finger became extremely swolen, about 2 - 3 times the size. Painful to the tough, couldn't bend it. He spend 5 days in the hospital, treated for gout and given antibiotics. After the antiobiotics ran out, the swelling returned, only to now move into the rest of his hand. He experiences numbness in all fingers, (both sides), muscle weakness, can't open jars, hold utensils, etc.

I am having pain in my Right index finger (knuckle) for almost two months now. I don't have any swelling, warmth, or redness around the site. Could it be related to the distal radius fracture surgery which I had one year back on my Left hand. Thanking you in advance for your highly valued advise.

My problem is that my index finger falls asleep when I write or even scroll with a computer mouse. Even when I exercise the index finger starts tingling. Its really weird this has never happened to me before. Can you help? I'm not sure if its serious enough to see a doctor. Thanks for your help in advance.

There is little to no numbness. The ring finger is the same as well. But my middle finger, index finger and thumb are definitely numb and slightly swollen. My index finger, though, is the only finger experiencing some pain along with the numbness and swelling. Things to note: I did not bang my elbow on anything.

About 8 days ago i think my right index finger came into contact with someone elses herpes blister (not 100% sure). I dont believe i had any cuts or openings on my finger, it was on the side of my finger not near the nail. However about 2 days later the side, top part of my right index finger (the one that was touched) has had a bruised sensation only when you touch it for the past 6 days. After explaining everything that was going on with my index finger and all of my other MS symptoms she came to the conclusion that the pain is probably a combination of a nerve being pinched when I move a certain way, arthritis, and that I use my cane in my right hand that is adding stress to the finger. So again I have homework in the way of an exercise (called Radial Nerve Glide) to see if that will get things back to the way the should be.

I'm having the exact same problem with my non-dominant index finger. It's been coming and going on for several months now. It's quite painful and uncomfortable. I have my regular physical scheduled for 10/15 and was going to wait til then to talk to him about it. Urgent care said it was just inflammation. It just makes no sense to me. Why inflamed? Haven't injured it.

It started with my index finger having spasms, and then moved to in between my middle finger and pointer finger knuckle. It now is deblilitating my pinkie and ring finger and causing some minor pain in the outside part of my wrist. I had my pins taken out Monday from my right index finger this week, and today is Friday. I still have minimal movement and much stiffness. My finger is stuck in the position it was as when the pins were in, and I am still unable to make a fist. Also my top part of my finger is pointed more towards my pinky finger than sitting in the normal position. Is this how it it will stay, or will this get better when my knuckle swelling decreases?

Pain and sensory loss in the thumb and index finger can often be attributed to a problem at C5-6. Carpal Tunnel can create pain in the hand as well. Swelling could be several things, do you have pain, tingling?
