I took a puck off of my right index finger and didn't really notice any immediate pain. Over the next couple days I noticed that I couldn't form a fist because my finger was very swollen and hurt to bend that far. Upon further observation I noticed that my first finger knuckle had become very wide, but the rest of my finger remained regular size. It is also very sensitive to touch.
My index finger has chronic pain when it is exposed to cold temps. or if my circulation is lessened in that arm. It's just that finger and only at the finger nail, cuticle area. The feeling is similar to getting it smashed into something. Also, when no pain is present, if I hit it ever so slightly on something, it might as well have been smashed in a door, the feeling would be the same!
I worked hard for a couple months doing some exercises I found online trying not to fail my classes and make money. I regained much of my mobility however my index finger (the finger with the knuckle I broke) won't bend down all the way its now been 6 months since the break. this has made hitting the bag and future self defense a bit more tricky when throwing a punch my index finger hits first and makes it bend causing extreme pain which would be impractical in a self defense scenario.
I've had pain in my finger (when I twist a lid on can or do anything similar to that) for about 10 weeks. My question is, can my general family doctor treat injuries of this type (make a splint, prescribe range of motion routine), or do I have to see an orthopedic doctor? The reason is, I'm in a real jam financially, and seeing my general doctor whom I'm already established with would be significantly cheaper.
A day or two later I had lost movement in my thumb and index finger. I still have not gained movement in them.
I went to the movement disorder clinic to run some tests and it came back yesterday with mild carpal tunnel syndrome.
The doctor who read the results was not the original doctor that I saw, and when I explained ot him what the prblem was, he said it was not carpal tunnel syndrome and that I seem to have two issues.
m a 28 year old female and I have been having swelling, stiffness and pain of my right index finger knuckle for over 2 years. It just started and was really harsh at first. The finger is a little red compared to my other fingers. Pressing on the joint or where it hurt reduces the pain significantly and now the pain is almost gone but there's a sort of numbness in the edge of the finger. I haven't been using the finger or anything while it happened.
The pain resembles in a manner the pain after throwing something really hard and the pressure that accumulates at the edge of the hand fingers.
For about a month or two now I've awakened every morning around 4 with thumbs all fingers except the little finger asleep or tingling. Sometimes both hands, sometimes one or the other. I'm not sleeping on my hands. I have seen a doctor about this. Suggested it was classic of carpal tunnel, tho no other symptoms of same. Tried wearing braces on wrists at night. Problem persists. Any ideas?
After i left the massage parlor i found my left hand index finger was bleeding (because the cuticle came off) and i was very scared. the next day i tried to ask myself which finger i inserted but couldnt remember because i was quite drunk. i also dont know by the time when i fingered her whether it was already bleeding or not. here are my questions

Back in March I was holding a little girl that was standing on my lap and she lost her balance and squatted down. My hand was behind her knee and my right index finger popped and then hurt really bad for awhile. I assumed it would go away and it didn't. A few days later I went to urgent care. They took x-rays and saw nothing and told me to take ibuprofen and continue to use it like normal.
I am a 56 years old female and in relatively good health. I take one medication for hbp. Recently the middle joints of my little fingers are very tender, red and tend to be very itchy, if that makes any sense and I've also begun noticing some tiny red nodules at the first joint of my index fingers and little fingers. Some times the nodules are a little more pronouced than other times.
I had surgery the following day and had 2 pins inserted into my index finger. I had those pins in my index finger for 4 weeks (just had them removed on 1/10/11).
