Index finger carpal tunnel

Common Questions and Answers about Index finger carpal tunnel

finger

Avatar n tn Hi There can be several causes for numbness of the index finger such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Peripheral Neuropathy, Multiple Sclerosis, Peripheral Vascular Disease, Frostbite, Raynaud's Phenomenon and vasculitis. Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common source of hand numbness and pain. It is due to the increased pressure on the median nerve that enters the hand through the carpal tunnel.
Avatar f tn A day or two later I had lost movement in my thumb and index finger. I still have not gained movement in them. I went to the movement disorder clinic to run some tests and it came back yesterday with mild carpal tunnel syndrome. The doctor who read the results was not the original doctor that I saw, and when I explained ot him what the prblem was, he said it was not carpal tunnel syndrome and that I seem to have two issues.
Avatar m tn i am 40 years old, female, since 1month i started having a tremor in right index finger, it started off as very prominent tremor, i had lot of stress and muscle fatigue at the time, now the intensity is decreased but still present, waxes and wanes, i was working a lot, writing, and using my fingers and hands alot in the last 4 months, i delivered a baby in december, i have symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome with numbness in the first 31/2 fingers in the night while sleeping, relieved when i wake
Avatar f tn My index finger on my left hand has a tingling sensation on the side of it and the fingertip is sensitive to the touch and I have excruciating shooting pain off and on all day in the finger and under the nail. He is treating me for carpal tunnel. Is he correct treating me for carpal tunnel?
Avatar n tn i am being treated for hypertention if i move my head to the right i feel pain down my left arm and my thumb and index finger stays numb
Avatar f tn I have carpal tunnel syndrome too, there are braces you can buy to help. I personally havent but my hands ache horribly as well. Just to crack my fingers is teeth clenching. I have pretty persistent numbness in my thumb pointer and index finger on both hands. My midwife offered suggestions to sleep with them propped up on pillows and to seriously reduce any sodium intake you might have. Plenty of water, thats what I read all the time. Good luck!
1625195 tn?1332178662 There is little to no numbness. The ring finger is the same as well. But my middle finger, index finger and thumb are definitely numb and slightly swollen. My index finger, though, is the only finger experiencing some pain along with the numbness and swelling. Things to note: I did not bang my elbow on anything.
Avatar f tn I have 3 weeks left and i have been experiencing carpal tunnel. Doc said its normal due to more fluid and pressure on my nerves from the baby. Ihave been taking tylenol and using ben gay. My dad got me a copper bracelet which is used to reduce inflamation..works well! Anyone else going tbrough this and if so any tips to get rid of the pain ??
Avatar n tn Does anyone know what could be causing this. Ive read you can get carpal tunnel while being pregnant but I though carpal tunnel affected your wrists more.
Avatar f tn This manifests as pain and paresthesias in the distribution of the median nerve, which includes the thumb, index, and middle fingers. Carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms usually occur while holding an object or gripping a steering wheel for extended periods of time. They also tend to occur at night and may wake you during the night, or you may notice the numbness when you wake up in the morning. Avoid activities that make symptoms worse.
Avatar m tn Turns out arthritic carpal bones have injured tendons to 1st thumb then index finger a month later. Wrist has to be fused to prevent further damage and carpal tunnel tendon repair attempted in 2 separate surgeries. Can I do any kind of (light) weight training or use a rowing machine after healing up?
Avatar m tn These symptoms are suggestive of carpal tunnel syndrome, which is due to median nerve compression in the carpal tunnel at the wrist. Since median nerve is responsible for feeling and movement of the palm, thumb, index, middle finger and the thumb side of the ring finger, these areas may be affected. You have been engaged in repetitive hand and wrist movements, which can trigger the onset.
Avatar f tn m not sleeping on my hands. I have seen a doctor about this. Suggested it was classic of carpal tunnel, tho no other symptoms of same. Tried wearing braces on wrists at night. Problem persists. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn It depends on where the pain and numbness is. There is a cause of numbness of the index finger and middle finger called carpal tunnel syndrome. It usually also has sensory changes of the palm at the thumb, index and middle fingers, and the ring finger on the side near the middle finger. I am not sure if you have these other features or not, but I will elaborate on this. Carpal tunnel syndrome is a compression/entrapment syndrome of the median nerve at the wrist.
Avatar f tn Pregnancy carpal tunnel..? I have it started at about 37 weeks for me, my fingers get numb and I sometimes feel a pop from the fluid... The only thing you can really do is keep your wrist straight, don't sleep on it.
Avatar n tn Sounds like carpal tunnel syndrome and tarsal tunnel syndrome (basically carpal of the ankle, which is about all I know about TTS). A fairly good indicator of CTS is numbness that includes the thumb, index, middle and the half of the ring finger adjacent to the middle. Usually there's feeling in the pinkie and the half of the ring finger adjacent to it (this is the path of the radial nerve that is being pinched).
Avatar n tn Your symptoms could be due to problems in the wrist referred to as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. The nerve innervating (supplying) the thumb, the index finger and the middle fingers is the median nerve. This can get compressed in the wrist, leading to numbness of these areas leading to a condition called Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. The nerve can get compressed due to obesity, Diabetes Mellitus, hypothyroidism, arthritis and trauma.
1794671 tn?1338795391 Yes, diabetes has been linked to both coeliac diasese and carpal tunnel; though carpal tunnel is more common with type 2 diabetes. However, this does not necessarily mean that the symptoms you experience are definitely due to carpal tunnel, and other possibilities like infections/ inflammations, degenerations, neuro-muscular issues, vascular cases, bone/joint causes, micronutrient deficiencies etc may need to be considered as well.
Avatar n tn specifically, the two finger joints of the pinky, the top joint of the ring finger, the central joint of the middle finger and sometimes the knuckle and central joint of the index finger. My thumb's central joint can be popped but causes no pain or tightness. Pressing my hand flat on a surface and forcing it to remain there causes tightness at the wrist and I can feel what can only be described as a 'spring effect' at the knuckles when I release.
Avatar f tn I believe you need to see a health care provider and quickly, you have carpal tunnel syndrome. Please Read the following and if you need more information, www.mayoclinic.com is a great place to get it. Carpal tunnel syndrome typically starts gradually with a vague aching in your wrist that can extend to your hand or forearm.
Avatar n tn I think you might have Cubital Tunnel or Carpel tunnel. More likely it could be Carpel tunnel as only index finger is involved which is also less likely. I think you should be seeing an orthopaedician at earliest and get imaging study done in form of CT or MRI scan and decide regarding further management. Keep me informed if you have any doubt. Bye.
Avatar m tn Pain and sensory loss in the thumb and index finger can often be attributed to a problem at C5-6. Carpal Tunnel can create pain in the hand as well. Swelling could be several things, do you have pain, tingling?
