Common Questions and Answers about Index finger bones

finger

Avatar f tn Hello~since it has not gotten better in a week, I would see your doctor, you could have splintered one of the bones in your finger.
Avatar n tn On my left hand, my index finger is longer than my middle finger, my ring finger is shorter than my middle finger. On my left had, my middle finger is shorter than both other fingers (ring & middle). It's nver caused any problems but I've always wondered why my Mom & I had it.
1625195 tn?1332178662 There is little to no numbness. The ring finger is the same as well. But my middle finger, index finger and thumb are definitely numb and slightly swollen. My index finger, though, is the only finger experiencing some pain along with the numbness and swelling. Things to note: I did not bang my elbow on anything.
Avatar m tn Turns out arthritic carpal bones have injured tendons to 1st thumb then index finger a month later. Wrist has to be fused to prevent further damage and carpal tunnel tendon repair attempted in 2 separate surgeries. Can I do any kind of (light) weight training or use a rowing machine after healing up?
Avatar m tn A few weeks later, I noticed I could feel a nerve fairly easy between my thumb and index finger. Here recently I've had a lot of headaches, muscle twitching and aching pain in my left arm/hand. I've noticed that my pinky finger can move but seems to move like I was double jointed or something. I seem to have a stiff neck every now and then but I feel like I've always had that. When I hold a cup or a glass of something in my left hand I shake really bad.
Avatar m tn I worked hard for a couple months doing some exercises I found online trying not to fail my classes and make money. I regained much of my mobility however my index finger (the finger with the knuckle I broke) won't bend down all the way its now been 6 months since the break. this has made hitting the bag and future self defense a bit more tricky when throwing a punch my index finger hits first and makes it bend causing extreme pain which would be impractical in a self defense scenario.
Avatar f tn Hello~You may have some misalignment of the small bones in your finger. I would see a chiropractor, he/she may be able to palpate your hand and finger and should be able to determine if this is the case. Until then, try soaking it in Epsom salts, this can help with the swelling.
Avatar f tn Im five weeks and three days. When i wake up in the morning my index finger pads are numb.
Avatar m tn To get at the harder-to-reach jaw muscles inside your mouth, use your index finger to probe for tender areas behind the teeth, and use the finger to massage these spots. Other home-care therapies, such as moist heat or cold packs on the face, vitamin supplements, or biofeedback are useful for some people. Exercising several times each week may help you relax, strengthen your body, increase flexibility, and increase your ability to handle pain.
Avatar f tn t been able to make a fist since it happened however i can move my hand around and used by thumb, index sand middle finger, still have a lump in the 5th metacarpal bone, tender to the touch. I have also been experiencing numbness and cold fingers in my left hand. And yesterday i had what i can only describe as a muscle spasm in my pinkie finger and pain radiating into my forearm. Can someone tell me is what could be wrong and is it to late to do anything?
772218 tn?1249131067 If it is carpel then the pain should be in the thumb, index finger and middle finger area of your hand. If it is the outside two fingers of your hand then it would suggest the ulnar nerve. Considering you experience it in arm, feet, legs; I would suggest talking to your doctor and let them lead you in the right direction for testing and diagnosis.
Avatar n tn even i am facing the same problem from last year and half i am loosing muscle mass from both the hands and forearms especially in between thumb finger and index finger my both the hands look scary now as i can see the bones even in my palms and I cannot put my pinkie or ring finger together and I cannot get my ring finger together with my middle finger in both my hands.
Avatar f tn This morning the same thing only the pain is intense, my finger is swollen, along with the knuckles and it hurts in the fleshy part between the index finger and thumb as well as the index finger and the finger next to it. I cannot straighten my finger and the pain is slowly going into the rest of my hand and wrist. I have not injured myself in any way and do keyboarding for my job.

Avatar m tn It occurs when I press the left side of the joint ( the one closest to my index finger) using my thumb. I don´t know if it is the bone or some kind of ligament or tendon that is actually moving, but I can fell something moves out of place. I don´t feel any kind of pain and the joint seens to be working properly.
Avatar m tn I am 23 year old female and have enchondroma on my left hand index finger. Should i get it operated? What diffrence will i feel after it has been operated.
Avatar n tn my index finger is geting swollen in the middle and it stings when bend it what can be the cause of it
Avatar n tn My right index finger has been swollen for a month now. the knuckle is painful to the touch, but i'm able to bend it. Any ideas what it could be?? Thanks for any help!
Avatar m tn I took a puck off of my right index finger and didn't really notice any immediate pain. Over the next couple days I noticed that I couldn't form a fist because my finger was very swollen and hurt to bend that far. Upon further observation I noticed that my first finger knuckle had become very wide, but the rest of my finger remained regular size. It is also very sensitive to touch.
Avatar f tn I took some orally and it knocked out the swelling til I stopped taking them and then it came back. And got a steroid injection in my index finger which helped so much (I couldn’t move my Index all the way down and now I can pretty much can) but it’s still swelling. No numbness or tingling in the tips of my fingers. My whole arm feels tight and weak from not using it for months. So is it a sprain, a strain, arthritis? None of the three doctors I’ve gone too can diagnose me.
Avatar n tn I have a burning sensation in my thumb, index and middle finger. I am also on birth control, ortho tri cyclen lo. Could this be a side effect?
1336836 tn?1275740921 What could cause my index finger to be numb and tingle when touching the joint of the finger?
Avatar n tn Back in March I was holding a little girl that was standing on my lap and she lost her balance and squatted down. My hand was behind her knee and my right index finger popped and then hurt really bad for awhile. I assumed it would go away and it didn't. A few days later I went to urgent care. They took x-rays and saw nothing and told me to take ibuprofen and continue to use it like normal.
Avatar f tn I am a 56 years old female and in relatively good health. I take one medication for hbp. Recently the middle joints of my little fingers are very tender, red and tend to be very itchy, if that makes any sense and I've also begun noticing some tiny red nodules at the first joint of my index fingers and little fingers. Some times the nodules are a little more pronouced than other times.
Avatar f tn After the voting I realized that my index finger has the lilltle thingy ( like skin peel off ur index finger and present a small cut). Because my finger already cover with the ink I cannot see clearly if the cut already formed the scab to protect the open and m not sure when did I get that.
Avatar m tn I had surgery the following day and had 2 pins inserted into my index finger. I had those pins in my index finger for 4 weeks (just had them removed on 1/10/11). I haven't been able to move that index finger for 4 weeks since the pins were still in there, as any movement in that finger caused extreme pain...but now my index finger seems to be stuck in that same position (slightly curved, as if holding a cup).
Avatar m tn My index finger has chronic pain when it is exposed to cold temps. or if my circulation is lessened in that arm. It's just that finger and only at the finger nail, cuticle area. The feeling is similar to getting it smashed into something. Also, when no pain is present, if I hit it ever so slightly on something, it might as well have been smashed in a door, the feeling would be the same!
