Common Questions and Answers about Inderal la pregnancy

inderal

Avatar f tn On January 18, 2011, my doctor put me on Inderal LA 60 mg because a stupid doctor upped my thyroid medicine too much and my heart rate and BP went off the chart. I have not taken any thyroid hormone since January 18th. While the Inderal has helped lower the BP and heart rate, I am having significant side effects from it and just wondered if others had experienced the same thing. I am quite fatigued but the most disturbing thing is I'm having very vivid and scary dreams.
Avatar n tn t aggravate tremors and so your feeling of increased head shaking cannot be attributed to Inderal. For a person with an essential tremor, the starting dose of Inderal is 40 mg twice a day. Based on the tremor response and/or Inderal side effects, your healthcare provider may increase or decrease the Inderal dosage. Hence, the dose you are taking is suboptimum and may not be of any benefit in your tremor.
Avatar n tn i have been taking these capsules called inderal la for my depression and anxiety and they are not helping at all with my condition and i wanted to know if anybody else was taking the same medication and if it has helped them.
Avatar f tn Results vary among people, but, for migraines, I was taking 240 mg Inderal LA (Propranolol slow release) every day, in divided doses, I was fine. One site I just viewed suggested dosing as 40mg twice a day of Standard Propranolol or 80 mg Slow Release once a day. For the Standard Propranolol, they listed 640 mg as the maximum per day, in divided doses, so you're clearing that by a wide margin.
Avatar f tn Hi I have many different heart arrhythmias and I take Inderal la 60 , my heart rate is most of the time in the 50's I am having a Colonoscopy and my Dr. wants me to do Magnesium-Dulcolax prep . I feel that it would be dangerous to take it since that would probably increase my slow heart rate. What is a safe prep for people with heart condition like that?
Avatar f tn Thanks for the reply.....I agree the hardest part is taking propafenone 3x's aday. Dr.had me stop the Propafenone( I don't really know why) and go on 80 mg.of Inderal LA....wow....I went to pieces as far as my AF....stayed on the propafenone for 7 days....got worse everyday. With Drs' ok I went back to propafenone 325 x 3 and Inderal 10mg x 2 aday...maybe they will formulate a LA form of propafenone soon.
957923 tn?1246732553 I take Inderal LA 120mg 1x a day and I also take bcp (Yasmin) and Metformin 500mg 2x for weight loss. My doctor knew I was on Inderal LA and said it was fine. Talk to your doctor about getting on Metformin. It works great and with that I've lost 60 + lbs with it. I have all the symptoms that you have too, except I don't have high blood pressure. I wouldn't consider the lap band surgery (only as a last resort).
Avatar n tn They have been using different meds to try to help with the headaches and now she is on Inderal LA 80 once a day. It helps some but what do we need to do? Do we need to go through with the TEE or what?
Avatar f tn I also suffer from migraines (not period related) but you may need something along the line of Imitrex to ease the pain away and something like Inderal LA to control how many migraines you get. I've been on Inderal LA for over 5 years now and been a suffer since I was 15. As far as your gyn issues, you need a doctor. They need to run tests on you to confirm what you are dealing with. I know how you feel on finding a doctor, I had allot of issues with finding the right doctor.
Avatar n tn I too suffer from them for the past 8 years and currently take Inderal LA 120mg once a day. It prevents the migraines, although sometimes my sinus headaches can trigger a migraine but its a rare thing. I know for me, stress triggers most of my migraines. Talk to your doctor. Im only being treated by my GP.
Avatar f tn one cardiologist told me it was safe to take inderal during pregnancy and another said it was not a great idea because it can cause heart block in baby. i chose not to take the inderal and suffered through my second trimester, but the svt got much better by my third trimester and was fine for my labor and delivery. It did not act up again until after I had my daughter and was nursing, so I took the inderal symptomatically and finally had an ablation about a year later.
Avatar f tn Told by primary that I will have to go on ACE inhibitor because this means my heart is not slowing between beats. By the way, I have been on 120 mgs a day of Inderal LA for severe migraines, throwing PVC and palpitaitions for 18 years -- fabulous medication. Question: Since my BP - diastolic is never (except one recent time after bites) above 80 and usually 60 to 74, this could be a false reading if the bites were in fact Lymes disease or not relationship?
Avatar n tn I'm a 44yo Female who has been on Inderal LA 60mg for 20 years. I have recently starting having what I suspect is cold-induced asthma. At other times I also seem to have a dry cough, feel irritated in my trachea, have a raspy voice and have to clear my throat a lot. I don't notice any wheezing although I do think my deep breathing sounds different, more congested, hard to explain.
21064 tn?1309308733 Googling a topic is a great idea, but if you don't have the time or inclination to sort through a lot of webites (good and bad), here's another great way to learn more about a specific health topic: I'm not sure if everyone knows this, but there is also a huge database of health information available on MedHelp's site. In addition to information on medications, the database also includes information and discussions on diseases, conditions, and testing.
Avatar f tn I used to be on Inderal (80mg LA and 20mg for breakthrough episodes) and after awhile it seemed to lose its effectiveness. I also took Xanax, but only rarely and it helped with the anxiety. At one point, I was put on a daily dose of Xanax and within a couple weeks, I realized I had to increase the dose and/or frequency to maintain the effect. I stopped taking it daily, and for the past 10 years, I have only taken it on rare occasions...
Avatar f tn I was on Norvasc. Inderal la, long lasting Nitro and Nitroquick. My blood pressure was 80/60 most of the time. I felt like **** always tired, constant chest pain, headaches, muscle aches all I did was sleep. My new cardio told me to stop everything. Needless to say I need to slowly come off the enderal. But since Coming off everything I actually feel much better. I have energy again With no chest pain at this time. All muscle pain has gone away also.
536139 tn?1273185952 I was prescribed inderal for high blood pressure/hypertension caused by hyperthyroidism. While the inderal definitely helped me cope with the extreme hyperthyroid symptoms, many of which were downstream effects of hypertension, it also prolonged real diagnosis and treatment for over a year, as most doctors (mine included) would rather treat only the surface-level symptoms and hope you go away.
Avatar f tn i took it for about 14 mths for svt ,and i found it to be ok ,there are better ones for svt ,like neiblet{nebivolol} which is a more selective for the heart ,but inderal is known to be good for migraine as well...for the first few weeks just watch standing up quick and things like that ,it is better started on a low dose and moved up as needed,,but apart from that it seems to be well tolerated by most.
967168 tn?1477584489 I can't believe it but it's been a full week and I feel alot better, still some swelling, but it may take awhile to fully go away - I can live with that. We were in a minor car accident on Friday and I got upset and bam-o pvc's started and haven't stopped - so I took Inderal when we came home and it helped. My question is about is Inderal - I thought it was for migraines? how long typically does it work or last? My bottle says take as needed...
Avatar n tn I have been on Inderal for many years for a tremor in my hand. Inderal is prescribed for short term anxiety like the kind you get before having to speak in public, headaches, and blood pressure. I have never had any BP problems on it, but my pulse is lower....which is a good thing! I wouldn't worry, I think you'll be fine, but if really concerned talk to your doctor about it. Take care!
Avatar m tn Dr. Chahine......I, too, have been diagnosed w/essential tremors. I have taken Inderal 60 LA for several years and it does help, but the tremors have gotten more intense over the years. (I am a 70 yr old female). I have tried to take mysoline and it knocked me out, so no more of that. Would increasing the dosage of Inderal help?
Avatar f tn thanks, I am having an echo tomorrow to confirm the diagnosis and then my doctor wants to start me on medication (to control the symptoms--SOB, palpatations, fatique) but the two he suggested--inderal or atenolol--aren't recommended during pregnancy. I am TTC #2.
Avatar f tn My GP prescribed Inderal LA 60 mg, which I took for two days and then stopped b/c I felt very lethargic. The cardiologist wants to wait until after the holter test to give me anything b/c he doesn't want to suppress the "events" as he calls them. Obviously I can't wait to suppress the events! So at least I know if anything gets really bad I have the Inderal temporarily.
Avatar m tn but found too many breakthroughs lately so my dr switched me to Inderal LA. last week.... my dr explained back in 2010 that the lower doses were better to begin with to get your body used to it and so I wouldn't become immune to it so quickly. My system is very sensitive and it only takes a small amount of meds to begin with for me to notice it.
Avatar n tn i took citlopram and felt suicidal and my doctor stoped those and gave me half inderal la capsules. but these capsules are not working at all and my health is getting worse.
Avatar m tn t controlling my tachycardia so well so they just took me off of it last week when I was admitted back into the hospital and put me on Inderal LA 120 mg. daily. I think the symptoms are even worse on this one...I have been so fatigued, depressed and absolutely no energy. Normally I use to be full of energy, never felt tired and was always happy and not ever depressed. I think I would rather deal with the tachycardia and SVT's than the side effects of the medication.
