Increase in vaginal discharge

Common Questions and Answers about Increase in vaginal discharge

Call your practitioner right away if you're not yet at 37 weeks and you notice an increase in discharge or a change in the type of discharge (if it becomes watery, mucus-like, or bloody – even if it's just tinged with pink or brownish old blood). This can be a sign of preterm labor. You should also call your caregiver if you suspect that you have an infection.

An increase in discharge is very normal during pregnancy, so I would just assume that is what it is. Intercourse can also kind of help bring down discharge that may be higher up in the cervix area.
My question is that the past week i havent had as much vaginal discharge as i did in the first trimester and it is more clear. Every where i read it says it should increase as your pregnancy progresses. Is this normal?
Since april 2005, i've noticed a large increase in the amount of vigainal discharge i've been having. I've not had intercourse since march time so i know it's not to do with that. I've taken a thrush tablet-didn't effect it, i've visted my local G.U.M clinic, and had a swab. They gave me antibiotics on the day and a week later txted me my results; they were satisfactory. I've recently changed from the pill, onto the injection, but it hasn't effected it either.
I thought that i had a urinary problem but I am pretty sure now its the discharge coming out. Is this normal. It looks like clumps of white discharge tissue like in the urine. Almost 100% of the time I go there are some there. This is probably TMI but i look and I can see it come out. I have never experienced this and I am wondering if its because my body was so out of whack that that is the way its supposed to be.
I am 28 wks pregnant and over the past day or two I have had a sudden decrease in vaginal discharge. Is this a warning sign or something I should be worried about? Any opinion would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

I generally hv to urinate quite frequently specially after lunch. evn when i dont hv to urinate i keep getting wet, as if there is a leak or something. Are these two problems related to each othr???? what should i do to cure it???
I would say that if there is green discharge, you want to go to the doctor. Green discharge is almost always indicative of a bacterial infection. Vagifem should increase your discharge or make you more wet, but shouldn't change the color. It is not normal to have green discharge as a result of using Vagifem.
an increase in vaginal discharge is infact a symptom in pregnancy. good luck i hope all goes the way that you want it.
This changes the natural balance in the vagina and causes certain bacteria that live in the vagina to increase faster than others and leads to mild inflammation. You can go to the drugstore and buy an over the counter vaginal moisturizer called Replens. Use it daily for one week and twice a week after that.
But when your still young, discharge can vary in color and texture. If it is itchy or sore or smells unusual then you could have an infection. You should go see your gynecologist right away. Has it always been that color? Or did it recently change? Because when vaginal discharge changes color it is usually because of an underlying infection. Emotional stress, a tampon or foreign body left in the vagina, or ovulation.
So this is my 3rd pregnancy, and I have recently started having an increased amount of watery discharge along with cramping in my lower back. Is that normal? With this pregnancy it has been 100% different then my other 2 so its throwing me off a bit...should I be concerned??
They told me that the baby would be fine if she would to be born now, but that she is only 3lbs 14oz now...which scares me. I hope it is just nothing and just increase vaginal discharge. Thank-you so much for your response. thegife.
Yes increase in vaginal discharge is completely normal, its due to all the hormonal changes, your body will experience several different body changes during this pregnancy, try to google pregnancy symptoms so you can have an idea of some other ones you may expect
I have also had an increase in discharge below. I read that you get increased discharge during pregnancy due to the hormones. As long as you aren't itchy or having a burning sensation then it should be fine.
This is normal pregnancy discharge - It will increase as you progress in your pregnancy -you will only need to worry if it goes yellow or green and starts to smell funny, this might mean you have an infection. You can use a liner if it becomes too much and you wnat to feel fresher.
Things like, having sex (semen in the vaginal tract causes higher pH and thus Increase in odor). First, make sure that there is no other infection. Sounds like you have but I'm just mentioning to be complete. Some bacterial infections like chlamydia can have a fishy smell that wont go away until treated. If you are without STD's and it is Bacterial Vaginosis and you have taken the medication for BV then begin using Summer's Eve Feminine Wash to clean your vaginal/anal areas.
I am 36 years old. For the past month and half I have had increased vaginal discharge. It is white, moderate consistency and odorless. For all practical purposes, it appears to be normal, except that it is markedly increased more days than not. It additionally does not seem to follow any sort of pattern that correlates with my menstrual cycle. There is no pain. I have seen my doctor and been tested for STD's which were all negative. The vaginal culture was negative as well.
Hello, I have been experiencing an increase in vaginal discharge over the last several months and am pretty worried as to what it may point to. My STD and colposcopy have come back clean and my gyno said my cervix looks healthy. Except for what I know is a wart transmission from my boyfriend, who is no longer having visible symptoms of this. I just have a couple small on the edge of the upper lips and thats it.
I first noticed it because after sex with my boyfriend, his penis would have this white flakey stuff on it that almost looked like dry skin. I've also noticed an increase in dryness during sex. It shows up in my underwear as almost snotty but white, and then sometimes it's the white flakiness. Just yesterday it's gotten worse, and I've noticed a slight funky smell. I have no pain or itching whatsoever, and I'm taking contraceptive if that helps.
Hi, An increase in thick white discharge is pretty common a day or two before your period starts, during pregnancy, at puberty, or during breastfeeding. Are you on any oral contraceptives? That could also contribute to an increase in discharge. If it doesn't itch, burn, or there is no foul odor to it, it should be perfectly normal. However if it persists and really bothers you, then it can't hurt to be checked by a doctor just to make sure all is well and to ease your mind.
increase of vaginal discharge is perfectly normal throughout pregnancy
The normal vaginal discharge is thicker at specific times of the menstrual cycle (at the time of ovulation), during breastfeeding, or during sexual arousal. An increase in the amount of vaginal discharge, an abnormal odor or consistency of the fluid, or pain, itching, or burning that accompanies vaginal discharge can all be signs of infection or other more serious disorders.
hi ladies. i have had a large increase in cm since my last af. (i think my last af was about 1 1/2 weeks ago) anyway dh is outa town so i missed my chance this month. but for some reason i have had this large amount of cm. and i went for a short walk the other day and for some reason it was like as if that walk made a LOT of cm come out. im sorry for tmi but i mean it was WAY more than i ever had b4. i am worried tho cuz it has been a little watery with a few chunks.
Dont worry, discharge during ovulation and sexual intercourse is normal. Increase in discharge could be due to being sexually aroused. Discharge can increase during ovulation too and it is normal to have more discharge than other girls. As long as the discharge doesnt have a nasty smell or greenish colour to it its most probably just you overthinking. But if you are worried or concerned I advise you to go to your doctor or clinic to get checked out.
