Avatar f tn He believes that children who have outbursts are "Delayed in the development of the skills of flexibility/adaptability and frustration tolerance, or have significant difficulty applying these skills where they are most needed." Therefore, the logical intervention is to "Teach the skills of flexibility and frustration tolerance and reduce the likelihood of explosive outbursts, while maintaining adults as authority figures.
Avatar n tn Has your wrist/watchband become snug? As that could cutoff some blood circulation to your hand and contribute to numbness. Are you left handed, and/or use your fingers quite a bit? Overuse, especially involving harsh vibration like keyboarding, can lead to knuckle damage (osteoarthritic joints are very painful but they usually are easy to spot as they're also swollen). Does heat somewhat relieve your finger pain?
7980557 tn?1395954094 Hello I quit dance when I was about nine and I recently started doing it again. I also started stretching to improve my flexibility. I've improved a lot and can now do the splits however I recently strained my right leg muscles, especially in the thigh. It's not getting any better and I am getting stiffer and less flexible as it is too painful to stretch. Is there any way I could stretch again soon and make the muscle loosen again?
Avatar m tn Pilates helps in developing a strong core in improving co-ordination and balance. It helps to build flexibility, muscle strength and helps to build up endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips and back. The exercises concentrate on spinal and pelvic alignment and breathing that helps in strengthening the body's centre. The exercises start off gently and the intensity increases as the body core strengthens. There is lots of information on Pilates on the web. Best wishes.
4437866 tn?1388119624 Perineal massage can be done by the mother or her partner. The mother should be in a comfortable place, sitting or reclining in a way that gives access to the skin around the vagina. It can be done for up to 10 minutes a day during the last four weeks of pregnancy. Wash hands thoroughly. Ensure there are no sharp or long nails that may scratch the mother. Locate the perineum, directly below the vagina. It is the skin between the vagina and the anus.
Avatar m tn You and your wife made all these years OK so why are you so worried about your children. They will do just fine and technology is improving every year. If they are myopic they can wear glasses or contacts or possibly even have laser correction when they get around age 20. Don't worry so much about this situation since you have no control over it and besides, as parents you will be so happy just to have healthy children.
Avatar m tn I still suffer from excruciating cramp in my feet. Over the last 2 years I have built up the muscles in my feet and have increased flexibility with daily stretches and exercises but still suffer from painful cramp in my arches and toes. It seems to occur when my toes are pointed for long periods of time as I tend to tense my feet quite hard.
Avatar m tn I have flexibility issues in almost all of my joints (Knees, elbow, wrist, ankle). Coincidentally, all the joints in the right side of my body are worse. I cannot squat as the back of my feet cannot touch my butt, my hand cannot touch my shoulder, cannot do pushup as wrist will hurt a lot. I have done xrays but doctor said my xrays are fine. Went through physiotherapy but joints flexibility does not improve no matter how much i stretched.

Avatar n tn At home we continuously tell my new 6th grader (only) child not to talk in class and in the hallway. But we receive notes and oral comments from two teachers that he talks in class and in the hallway after being warned. What can we do at home to encourage him to be quiet and obey when told to be quiet. He's in a Magnet program and you must keep a B average in all subject areas including conduct.
356518 tn?1322263642 They both have severe speech problems and since they have been on the medicine their speech is improving but they seem like they are just drugged out to me. I have talked to their dr but he assures me this will pass. The 6 year old is extremly emotional while on it, I cut their dose to half of what the dr said and they still are not right. Any suggestions? I asked for strattara and dr says it will not work for them.
Avatar n tn My 80 year old mother had TKR surgery last week. She says when she stands or sits for any length of time, her foot hurts and she must lay down to relieve the pain. The doctor said this is typical because of blood rushing to the foot and recommended putting the support sock on. Has anyone else experienced this? Everyone is impressed with her flexibility and she's doing her exercises regularly but this pain has really gotten her concerned and regrets getting the surgery.
Avatar m tn There was no need for any chemo or radiation since the tumor was well encapsulated. He engaged in all follow up tests and recent routine tests were all normal except his abdominal CT Scan showed some swelling in his bladder lining. All urine tests were normal - no signs of blood or infection...no sense of urgency to urinate or anything else unusual.
875426 tn?1325528416 For example, you might put in Piano Guys and select music as to where you want the search to hone in on. It would be nice if Medhelp had where you could search and then put a category in as to where you wanted to search- for example doing a search for tachycardia in the category of the dysautonomia forum. What do you think?

Avatar m tn Many times it is due to the medication and after 2-3 months of taking you become used to it and you feel better. In other cases it there almost for ever. How long since you dx and started on medication? Have you already achieved the maximum dose defined by your dr or are you still increasing them?
Avatar m tn Both my 6 and 8 yr old children were just diagnosed with bronchomalacia yesterday after undergoing elective bronchoscopy's. everything I have read says this condition is usually outgrown by 3 yrs or so. They were currently being treated for asthma both starting at the onset of age 2 after terrible coughing attacks. We decided to do the bronch's because their asthma was just not improving. When they are healthy they are fine. No activity restrictions etc.
Avatar m tn My husband is 36 but feels like he's 66. He's always in pain, and has so many health issues. He had spontaneous pheumothorax when he was 18 and it happened 6 times for a few years. His lower back is always in pain. Very high blood pressure. COPD, asthma, Everytime he goes to the Doctor they find something new... he's even diabetic. What can all this mean? He does smoke .. He's been trying to quit.
Avatar f tn Personally, I tried to eat as healthily as I could and did regular exercise. I also stopped drinking caffeine and cut down the alcohol. In addition to this I took a multivitamin for mothers to be. Try not to put yourself under so much pressure ( easier said than done!) as this doesnt help the process! Have you had an hsg? I was ttc for over a year and have just fell pregnant the month of my hsg!!
Avatar f tn It is well known that vitamin B12 deficiency causes developmental delay and brain atrophy in infants and children. This has been reported in medical journals and texts since the 1960’s. The medical community (pediatricians, neurologists) is not routinely checking children who present with the first concern of developmental delay for B12 deficiency which is problematic and a clinical error.

Avatar m tn Hi Brad, I agree with nickppatel re the leg activity in water polo. I played water polo for 6 years in my late teens to early twenties (then joined the military) and I have a full understanding on the amount of leg work required just to play water polo, let alone being the goalie.
